The scarlet Duel Disk fastened around his wrist.
The Duel Disk on Yūgong Feiyue's side seemed to come alive, its bony spurs spreading little by little as dark red patterns crawled up her fair arm.
The lights in the underground plaza were still on.
But the black mist billowing up around them had all but swallowed that faint light.
Amamiya Mio and several researchers were shut out in the distance, pounding on an invisible barrier and shouting something.
Their voices could not get through. Only the indistinct movements of their mouths remained.
"Duel!"
"Duel!"
Yūgong Feiyue raised her hand, her tongue brushing her scarlet lips.
"This is your first Shadow Game, isn't it, little boy?"
"My advice is to hold out a little longer."
"Remember, the one harvesting your soul is Yūgong Feiyue, one of the Dark Erosion Cult's Five Heavenly Kings."
Yūki did not respond to her threats.
He was staring worriedly at the several decks in his deck box.
Hand Destruction?
He had no idea what strategy she played. If her deck started its plays by sending cards to the Graveyard, throwing a Delinquent Duo at her would amount to paying Life Points to help her set up.
Needle Worm card milling?
Slowly milling cards in a Shadow Game sounded like volunteering for a double-pain experience.
His unfinished Thunder Dragon deck was out of the question too. He still lacked the key pieces.
If he actually dared bring it out, Yūgong Feiyue might not be the one to die. His dignity as a deck builder might die first.
After considering his options, Yūki pulled out the deck he trusted most.
The big guy countered everything!
Yūki touched the autographed Lava Golem in his box and felt considerably more at ease.
At least she had never let anyone down.
