Garr fell faster than expected.

When the Obsidian Elemental lord was surrounded by eight freaks, his hard body was no longer enough to protect its soul. Under the warlock's layers of weakening curses, Garr's strength had been reduced by at least a fifth. The ancient Doomguard was equally tough, and under the warlock's compulsory commands, it had no choice but to use its body to block every desperate charge Garr made.

When Destroyer Atrius was sent back into the Void by Wilfred because of its severe injuries, Dick raised his Light Shield and Warhammer again and took the Doomguard's place. Five minutes later, Garr's obsidian core was pierced by Jaina's erupting storm of ice shards. This manifestation of the obsidian lord in the mortal world turned into scorching rocks that covered the ground amid an earth-shaking explosion.

Although rumors had long circulated in the Elemental Plane that Garr had once been Thunderaan's servant, and that his despicable betrayal had led Prince Thunderaan into Ragnaros's trap, Garr himself was taciturn. Throughout the dozen or so minutes of fighting, he had not said a single word, only letting out meaningless roars, so the rumor could not be verified.

"Phew..."

Dick dismissed his dimmed Holy Light shield. The battle had not been as simple as it looked. They were all still some distance from Heroic rank, after all, and forcing a challenge against a higher rank through numbers had left almost everyone exhausted.

The paladin gestured for everyone to rest for twenty minutes, then walked over to Garr's scattered obsidian fragments. He bent down and pushed the fragments aside with his hands, searching for something. Finally, after Dick crushed the scorching obsidian core, he held an exquisite, pale blue, semicircular crystal sphere in his hand.
