In the game, Void Drakes appeared as mounts.

It was said that only the bravest champions could earn their favor and ride them across the battlefields of different worlds, but reality was nowhere near so romantic, nor did it hold so many legends of champions and dragons.

Void Drakes had originally been ordinary black dragons-or, more precisely, Black Dragon Eggs. During the Second War, Deathwing had traveled through the Dark Portal to Draenor, carrying a batch of Black Dragon Eggs. He had planned to hatch them on Draenor, which had not yet been destroyed, establishing a second refuge for the Black Dragonflight.

Deathwing's scheme had been quite ingenious. Unfortunately, the Orc High Shaman Ner'zhul, desperately fleeing demons hunting him, had recklessly opened too many Portals into the void. The entire Draenor World had collapsed, becoming the withered world it was now.

Deathwing's plan had failed, but not entirely... After exposure to an enormous dose of void power, those Black Dragon Eggs had not died. Instead, the first batch of mutated dragons had hatched from them. They were the original Void Drakes.

The strongest among them was called Nales Agula. As the first truly adult Void Dragon, he had naturally become their Dragon Aspect, even though his strength did not measure up to that of an ordinary heroic dragon.

Still, Nailas took considerable care of his own race. Since Deathwing had left before Draenor shattered, the newborn Void Drakes had no powerful protector. They could only struggle to find a way forward among the shattered ruins of Draenor World.

"These dragons... are strange."

Archmage Rhonin frowned at the drake flickering in and out of view in the void. With his exceptional eyesight, he could naturally make out the Orcs riding those drakes. Their armor bore an emblem very familiar to him.
