Brutallus was dead.
He died in the center of Shadowmoon Valley's Northern Battlefield, under the combined assault of Thaurissan, Uther, Demon Hunter Master Oritus, and the Warden Naisha. His soul became part of Oritus's collection and a replacement for the demon soul inside the Sufferer, while Uther requested his corpse as material for certain experiments.

The commanders of the Southern Battlefield were the Eredar demon Prince Malchezaar and the Nathrezim Dreadlord Varimathras. Neither was like Brutallus. Their minds worked better, so the moment they saw the Iron Burning Legion charging out of Xakan's portal rather than demon reinforcements, they fled without hesitation.
They were also the only two commanding demons overseeing the Third Invasion to escape with their lives. But without their starships, they could not get beyond the star domain of the shattered world of Draenor. Yes, their physical strength allowed them
