Dick's question came rather too suddenly.
But an extraordinary woman like Azshara would naturally not be stumped by it. She pondered for a moment, then said,
"If you can show me that fate truly exists, perhaps I'll believe in it. To me, fate... never existed in the first place."
"Mm."
Dick nodded noncommittally, then touched the surface of the crystal resting in the exquisite box. As he did so, Azshara told him how the crystal had been discovered.
"About two days ago, my astrologers saw a streak of light cross the sky. Generally speaking, a falling meteor like that always offers some special interpretations. Skilled astrologers can see fragments of the future in those interpretations, but this time was different!"
The Queen of the Deep toyed with her scepter and said in an incredulous tone,
"The light falling from the sky showed nothing at all, as though it was incompatible with this world itself, as though it had been forcibly thrown into this world. Nothing like this had ever happened before. The phenomenon intrigued me, so I mobilized the Naga to find where that light had landed. Then, in the great ocean trench outside Suramar City, my loyal Naga found this thing."
The queen played idly with her fingers, watching Dick's fingertip touch the crystal.
"This thing is mysterious. I can feel the Holy Light energy filling it, but I've never heard of energy arranged this way. It's as though it contains some special information, but it can't be deciphered! Whenever my mind enters it, an immense but harmless force pushes it out. It's refusing my observation."
Hummm.
No sooner had Azshara finished speaking than an immense, gentle energy appeared on the crystal's surface. It was as though a box had been opened, its inner light lingering outside the box.
