The Spark of Imagination was the most technologically advanced-looking place within the Titans City of Ulduar.
It was the laboratory of the Mechanical Guardian Mimiron. Once merely a research station the size of a small town, the Spark of Imagination had undergone rapid expansion after receiving Dick's approval, eventually reaching its present scale.
It was fully three times the size of Stormwind City!
And that was only its apparent size. Once you actually entered, you would discover that it was far larger than it looked. This was an entire starship production workshop, and throughout Azeroth, only Ulduar possessed the engineering expertise to complete the entire production process for a two-kilometer-long starship.
The blueprints for the thirteen starship engines obtained from the Ethereals had been fully deciphered. Unfortunately, Azeroth's current engineering capabilities only allowed three of the low-grade engines to be replicated. The First Fleet was a product of those replicas, while the Third and Fourth Fleets, which would soon roll off the production line, used more advanced engine designs.
They still lacked faster-than-light flight and void jump capabilities, but starships equipped with the new engines were two-thirds faster and had 80% greater power output-a tremendous leap forward. Meanwhile, the physical models for void jumps and faster-than-light flight were technological hurdles being researched furiously in Quel'Thalas, Dalaran, and Suramar, three places that produced mages in abundance.
Only after achieving a breakthrough in either would the Azeroth star domain truly possess the power to defend itself. After all, the Wall of the Great Dark Beyond spanned a million light-years. Within such an expanse, starships traveling at conventional speeds would never glimpse the scenery beyond the border, even if Azeroth kept at it until the end of time.
The appearance and individual module functions of the new starship models were handed over to
