Ch. 285Hound on the Loose

Dick and his companions infiltrated Naxxramas in search of Uther, avoided the Scourge’s horrors, and found him guarded by powerful undead. Jaina proposed using Gluth to break through, and the chapter ended as the enraged hound charged the guards.

  • Jaina froze the plague slimes so Dick, Tirion Fordring, Sylvanas, and their companions could cross the halls undetected.
  • Dick refused to attack Grobbulus, and the group continued through a contaminated conduit with Jaina’s Ice Barriers protecting them.
  • Thassarian identified Gluth as a plague-mutated core hound and warned Sylvanas that Cursed Cultists had infiltrated factions across the world.
  • Thassarian sensed Uther behind a guarded black door, where two liches, death knights, and powerful abominations blocked their way.
  • Jaina suggested borrowing Gluth, and Sylvanas agreed to play with the hound.
  • Gluth charged the guards, biting off Qiaobusi’s head as the death knights prepared to fight it.

Ch. 286Uther and his sword

Dick reached Uther, but the Death Knight’s sword Apocalypse attacked to protect him, and an encounter with Xal'atath freed Uther from the Old God’s influence. Xal'atath then demanded a show, as Kel'Thuzad rallied Naxxramas against the intruders and cut off Jaina’s teleportation.

  • Sylvanas wounded Gluth with a Black Arrow, drawing away most of the Death Knights and letting Dick and his companions enter the sealed room.
  • Dick discovered that disorder power filled the room, and Thassarian collapsed under its influence until Dick helped him back outside.
  • Apocalypse attacked Dick when he approached Uther, but Anveena fought the blade while Dick freed Uther from his chains.

  • Dick called on his companions to prepare for battle as Death Knights converged on them.

Ch. 287The battle inside the fortress

  • Dathrohan and Korth'azz intervened and challenged Uther, who prepared to fight his former brothers.
  • Black Witch Faerlina and Plaguebringer Noth confronted Jaina, and Faerlina threatened to slash her face and send her to an Orcs' pleasure house.

Ch. 288The return of the fierce warriors

Dick and the defenders struggled against Naxxramas’s elite forces, with Rivendare overpowering Dick as battles raged across the fortress. Two powerful newcomers burst through the ceiling and joined the fight, kicking Rivendare away and coming to Uther’s aid.

  • Sylvanas fought her former subordinate Lor'themar Theron while Anub'Rekhan attacked Tirion Fordring and Rivendare confronted Dick.
  • Gothik sent Ghost Riders and curses against Anveena, who answered by creating a troop of Holy Light spirits and leading them into battle.

  • Dick saw that Uther, Jaina, Tirion Fordring, Thassarian, and Sylvanas were also under heavy pressure from the Scourge’s forces.
  • Two tall figures broke through the fortress roof, one of them kicking Rivendare away as they arrived to help Uther.

Ch. 289In the name of vengeance (part one)

  • Tirion Fordring healed Mograine and refused to take the Ashbringer, insisting that Mograine himself was its true bearer.
  • The Holy Light manifested as a golden stellar vortex, asked the two knights if they would continue fighting, and exalted them.
  • Mograine accepted the Ashbringer and declared that he would fight in the name of vengeance.

Ch. 290In the name of vengeance (part two)-bonus update for Xiaodao Pianzhang

Fordring and Mograine broke into Naxxramas to rescue Dick and the others, and Mograine revealed the Ashbringer’s burning form as he fought Gothik. Dick unleashed his power against Rivendare, shattering both of the Death Knight’s Runeblades and leaving him defeated on his knees.

  • Fordring and Mograine found Naxxramas’s shield briefly down, then broke through its walls to reach the battle inside.

Ch. 291Reversal

Dick fought Rivendare with overwhelming Holy Power while his allies battled Anub'Rekhan, but Rivendare transformed into a chaotic monster after Kel'Thuzad’s modifications took effect. Kel'Thuzad teleported the other combatants away and kept Dick trapped, intending to test him.

  • Dick cut through the undead and helped Duke Tirion Fordring, Naisha, and Thassarian bring down Anub'Rekhan, while Heigan fled deeper into Naxxramas.

  • A tentacle dragged Dick back onto the battlefield, where Kel'Thuzad revealed that he had kept Dick as a gladiator to test whether he was the person Kel'Thuzad sought.

Ch. 292A battle to the death

Dick and Anveena killed Rivendare in Naxxramas, but Kel'Thuzad revealed that Dick had unknowingly helped him obtain the Eye of C'Thun. Kel'Thuzad fused it with Xal'atath, transforming the dagger into Twisted Mirror as Dick faced a new and terrifying threat.

  • Dick refused Kel'Thuzad's offer and declared that he would stop him himself.
  • Kel'Thuzad spared Dick but sent Naxxramas flying east to destroy the threat that kept Arthas from attacking the Northern Frontier.

Ch. 294Cataclysmic Collision

Dick tried to stop Kel'Thuzad from destroying the spirits beneath Light's Hope Chapel, but Naxxramas crashed into the chapel and unleashed their power in a devastating holy-light eruption. As the Scourge fell into chaos, Mr. Bigglesworth revived a new vessel for Kel'Thuzad in Stormwind, where the Archlich returned to life.

  • Dick charged Kel'Thuzad with Windfury, and the Archlich allowed the blade to destroy his body while promising they would meet again.
  • Naxxramas lost its power and crashed into Light's Hope Chapel, triggering a golden pillar of light as the spirits burned themselves away and destroyed nearby undead.

Ch. 295What had already ended

As West Darrowmere neared liberation, Dick and the leaders of Lordaeron’s forces met in Stratholme to plan a preemptive war against Arthas in Northrend. Dick revealed that Lordaeron would not fight alone, leaving Sir Mornes to ask whether other nations would join the expedition.

  • Princess Caliea decided to move Lordaeron’s government in exile from Theramore to Eastweald once West Darrowmere was liberated.
  • At a secret Stratholme meeting, Sir Mornes asked Dick to confirm the intelligence that had prompted plans for war in Northrend.
  • Dick explained that the eruption of spirits at Light’s Hope Chapel had left him gravely weakened, though his body held immense holy power.
  • Dick and Tirion Fordring argued that Mograine, the Scarlet Crusade, and the Silver Hand should take the fight to Arthas before he awoke.

Ch. 297Anduin's promotion ceremony

Anduin Wrynn prepared for a grand knighthood promotion ceremony in Theramore as Princess Caliea encouraged him to accept the burdens of leadership. Elsewhere, Odyn sent the Vrykul champion Gavensent Skovald into the mortal world, while L Varian sensed something unusual in Theramore and wondered if it was connected to his lost memories.

  • Theramore prepared for Anduin Wrynn’s promotion ceremony as civilians made plans to return to Lordaeron and settlers signed up for the Northrend expedition.
  • Princess Caliea told Anduin that ruling meant carrying a nation’s hopes and urged him to face his first great challenge bravely.
  • Odyn chose Gavensent Skovald to seek champions for Truthguard and gave him the sword In the Name of Courage to carry Valarjar’s mission into the mortal world.
  • On the road to Feralas, L Varian sensed something unusual in Theramore and told Valeera it might relate to his lost memories.
  • Valeera and Bearhide promised to help L Varian recover his memories after they won their freedom, and L Varian confidently declared they would win the Dire Maul tournament.

Ch. 298The boy and the man

  • Dick invited Chen and Li Li to Anduin’s advancement ceremony, where leaders and representatives from many factions assembled, with a Northern Expedition meeting planned afterward.
  • Princess Caliea, Lady Aegwynn, Jaina, and Med'an watched as Anduin knelt before the bust of Alonsus Faol.

  • Dick presented Anduin with the Might of Menethil, the weapon once wielded by King Terenas, and urged him to become a legend; Princess Caliea wept at its sight.

Ch. 299Descending from the Sky

Anduin completed his Paladin promotion ceremony in Theramore as a supernatural storm opened a Gate of Light above him. The gate vanished after a radiant sword crossed the sky, and Dick recognized that a Valarjar spirit had arrived outside the city.

  • Dick watched Benedictus baptize Anduin while hidden guards stood ready in case the Archbishop tried anything.
  • A storm engulfed the sky during the ceremony, and Dick reassured Anduin before urging him to raise Might of Menethil and shine his Holy Light.
  • Dick poured his own Holy Power into Anduin, making the warhammer blaze with golden light as a Gate of Light opened overhead.
  • A Sword of Light descended through the gate, dispersed the storm, and left the witnesses believing Anduin had been chosen by the Holy Light.
  • Dick told Liadrin and Jaina that a Valarjar spirit had appeared outside Theramore and hurried toward it.
  • The towering spirit rose from the gate’s landing site, drew two Frenzied One-Handed Axes, and faced Dick as he emerged from a Portal.

Ch. 300A mysterious fellow and a mysterious mission

Dick encountered Gavensent Skovald, a powerful Vrykul on a secret mission from Odyn, and learned that the warrior was selecting spirits for the Halls of Valor. After Skovald knocked Darion unconscious and departed, Dick suspected his mission involved Truthguard and returned through Jaina's Portal to focus on the Northern Expedition.

  • Gavensent Skovald challenged Darion, who entered Anger Mastery and attacked, but Skovald defeated him with two blows.
  • Dick identified himself as Tyr's successor and asked Skovald about his arrival, but Skovald refused to explain his mission until Dick guessed he was selecting warriors for the Halls of Valor.
  • Skovald gave his name and left, while Demitier carried the unconscious Darion and Dick explained the Valarjar and Skovald's artifacts to Liadrin and Jaina.
  • Dick recognized the sword on Skovald's back as the key to finding Truthguard and suspected that was the purpose of his mission.
  • Dick said he could not earn Skovald's respect in his current state and led the group through Jaina's Portal to meet people connected to the Northern Expedition.

Ch. 301The Sorrow of Omniscience and Omnipotence (Part One)

Dick concealed the Vrykul’s arrival and used a meeting about the Northrend war to trade valuable information for support. He began approaching the factions with offers and left Rhaella to contact Magni about Muradin’s location.

  • Dick entered Theramore’s conference room with Jaina and explained that the Argent Crusade needed support before Arthas awakened.
  • Saurfang asked why they did not assassinate Arthas, and Tirion Fordring explained that nearly all the scouts sent north had died and the Scourge’s forces made assassination impossible.
  • After only Hamuul Runetotem supported the crusade, Dick offered Commodore Matthew the locations of Plunder Isle and Scalawag Point in exchange for Kul Tiras’s help.
  • Dick told Princess Rhaella that he knew where Muradin was and urged her to tell Magni that he could trade for his brother’s return.

Ch. 302Omniscient and Omnipotent Sorrow (Part Two)

Dick used secret knowledge and personal bargains to force the gathered factions to support the Northern Expedition, knowing the pressure would ruin his standing among their rulers. After securing the Goblin Consortium’s support, he left the conference with Jaina while Caliea rejected Stormwind’s concerns and vowed that Lordaeron would hold out alone if necessary.

  • Caliea realized Dick was sacrificing his reputation and political future to secure aid for Lordaeron and the Northern Expedition.
  • Dick told Halduron Brightwing that Shen'dralar descendants had survived and challenged Barnes over the Night Elves’ knowledge of them; he then revealed Teldrassil and demanded that Barnes contact Malfurion and Tyrande.

  • Dick offered the Goblin Consortium mines and a share of Theramore’s commercial district, accepted Galuweizi’s counteroffer, and left the hall with Jaina.
  • Caliea refused to discuss Anduin’s return with the Stormwind noble and warned the envoys that Lordaeron would resist until the last man fell.

Ch. 303Shackles · World

Dick struggled with the nations’ reluctance to cooperate in the Northern Expedition and considered how his growing responsibilities had separated him from ordinary mortals. Kael'thas then arrived with an offer of Quel'Thalas's troops and a request for help with the Shen'dralar, before asking Dick to take a naaru off his hands.

  • Moam reported that Kul Tiras, the orcs, the trolls, Anduin, and the Moon Goddess Temple supported sending troops, while Quel'Thalas had not committed.
  • Moam relayed Lady Ironaya's view that Dick's Titans' authority had set him apart from mortals and that he needed to approach the world's troubles from a higher perspective.
  • Dick resolved that he had to take the offensive against threats such as Kel'Thuzad, Yogg-Saron, and the Old Gods rather than wait for disaster to strike.
  • Kael'thas teleported into Dick's room and promised Quel'Thalas's rangers and mages for the Northern Expedition if Dick helped contact and free the Shen'dralar descendants from the night elves' encirclement.
  • Kael'thas told Dick that a naaru had arrived in Quel'Thalas and asked him to take responsibility for it before powerful trackers from another world came to rescue it.

Ch. 304Kael'thas and Illidan

Dick visited Quel'Thalas and learned how Kael'thas was cultivating Arcan'dor with Waters of the Well of Eternity obtained through cooperation with Illidan. Kael'thas brought Dick to meet the captured Naaru, who recognized Dick's relics and introduced himself as M'uru.

  • Dick admired Arcan'dor, which Kael'thas had nurtured as a substitute for the lost Sunwell and which was beginning to sustain part of Quel'Thalas.
  • Kael'thas explained that he traded military support with Illidan for Waters of the Well of Eternity and hoped to find Shen'dralar knowledge to help Arcan'dor mature.
  • Kael'thas told Dick that Illidan was preparing to attack Magtheridon and had captured a Naaru while raiding a Naaru ship for a vessel capable of traveling through the cosmos.
  • Kael'thas led Dick and Jaina to the Mana Prison where the Naaru was held, explaining that the Naaru had sensed Dick's connection to its kind.
  • Dick entered the Naaru's radiance, and the captive recognized the Shadow of Flourishing Leaves, the Naaru's Shield, and the lost Atama Crystals before naming himself M'uru.
