Ch. 405Helya · A madman

Anduin fought Ymiron in the Tomb of the First Kings, and the battle ended with Ymiron accepting him as a future warrior despite Truthguard not yet recognizing him. After Dick took Ymiron away and Anduin received Oathkeeper and Truthguard, Helya ambushed the tomb and dragged Anduin and Anveena into the darkness, prompting Dick to destroy the tomb as she retreated.

  • Anduin and Ymiron fought fiercely, with Dick recalling Ymiron's past as a Vrykul butcher who later swore an oath to defend Tyr's cause.
  • Anduin and Ymiron clashed in a final exchange that left both warriors exhausted on the ground, and Ymiron said Anduin could become a fine warrior.
  • Dick helped Ymiron through a lightning Portal, while Anveena gave Anduin Oathkeeper and Truthguard, which had not yet fully recognized him.
  • Dick returned to the tomb and sensed danger as Helya's tentacles burst through the floor and seized Anduin and Anveena.
  • Dick slashed through the tentacles and destroyed the Tomb of the First Kings with lightning, while Helya fled with Anduin and Anveena into the darkness.

Ch. 406Garm: Into hell

  • Garm, Helya’s three-headed gatekeeper, burst from the Shadowlands and attacked Dick with blasts of corrupt energy.
  • Dick used his speed and Holy Light to wound Garm, severed one of its heads, and drove it to flee toward the Shadowlands entrance.
  • Dick pursued Garm in a burst of lightning and struck it down as it reached the entrance.

Ch. 407The power of the dead · The first retreat

Dick killed Garm and forced open a passage into the Shadowlands, where the realm's oppressive rules weakened his powers. He encountered Helya, who attacked him over Garm's death and vanished into the mist, leaving Dick facing a dangerous battle with little hope of escape.

  • Dick killed Garm by destroying its five hearts, though the strike badly injured his right hand and exhausted his wings of light.
  • Dick tore open a lasting passage into the Shadowlands and stepped into its cold, death-filled waters.
  • Dick killed a Nightmare Squid and struggled against the Shadowlands' rules, which suppressed his Holy Light and prevented him from transforming into lightning.
  • Helya summoned a storm and appeared on a Bone Throne, blaming Dick for killing her pet Garm.
  • Dick cut apart Helya's black lightning and challenged her, while she disappeared into the mist and threatened to torment him.

Ch. 408Morning in the Shadowlands

Ch. 409Aegis of Aggramar (Part One)

After escaping Helya’s destruction of the Shadowlands, Dick arrived at Odyn’s Skyhold to confront him. The Vrykul celebrated Garm’s death as Odyn’s victory, while Odyn ordered Heimdall to bring Dick before him.

  • The Vrykul found Garm dead in the purified ruins of the Halls of Valor and celebrated his death as proof of Odyn’s victory.
  • Dick escaped the Shadowlands through the Interworld Passage, reaching the World of Order injured but alive.
  • Dick used his High Guardians’ Authority to make the Iron Vrykul guards lower their spears and let him pass.
  • Heimdall blocked Dick’s way, and Dick threatened to defeat him unless he was allowed to see Odyn.
  • Odyn ended their standoff and told Heimdall to bring Dick to him.

Ch. 410Aegis of Aggramar (Part two)

Dick confronted Odyn in the Halls of Valor and asked for the Aegis of Aggramar to help him rescue his companion from Helya. Odyn agreed to consider the request because Norgannon had chosen Dick, but demanded another World Pillar to protect the Valarjar while the Aegis was away.

  • Dick recalled Odyn's history and met him in the Valarjar's feasting hall, where Odyn dismissed mortals as too weak to protect Azeroth.
  • Dick provoked Odyn by mentioning Helya and stopped Eir from attacking him, then threw her to the ground with his control of the Holy Light.

  • Dick explained that Helya and Loken had trapped Odyn in the Halls of Valor and revealed that Norgannon had entrusted him with a mission.
  • Odyn agreed to give Dick a chance to obtain the Aegis, but required him to bring another World Pillar to replace its protection of the Valarjar.

Ch. 411The "Story" of the Shadowlands

Anduin awoke imprisoned in a birdcage in the Shadowlands, where the realm’s rules slowly corrupted food and water and wore down its captives. An elderly Vrykul explained Helya’s history and warned Anduin to stay inside the cage, leaving him trapped and unsure how to escape.

  • Anduin woke in a rusted birdcage surrounded by mist, bone fragments, and other cages holding Vrykul and bones.
  • An elderly Vrykul warned Anduin not to touch the bars, then drank his water and explained that the Shadowlands corrupted supplies and slowed time.
  • Anduin traded food and water for information, and the Vrykul told him they were in Helya’s realm and that he had never seen anyone escape.
  • The Vrykul recounted how Helya, once Odyn’s adopted daughter and the first Val’kyr queen, began withholding souls and created the Kvaldir before waging war against Odyn.
  • The Vrykul advised Anduin to remain in his cage, explaining that death would not free him and that he would rather struggle than submit to Helya.

Ch. 412The blue dragons of Azsuna

Dick crossed Azsuna to locate Narthalas Academy and the blue dragons, while Senegos’s granddaughter Stellagosa struggled to keep the ailing elder alive. Dick broke through Azurewing Repose’s shield, and Senegos attacked him before Dick announced he had news of the Nexus.

  • Tao Shi located Narthalas Academy, and Dick ordered her, Das, and the mogu rogues to clear its ruins while he and Demitier headed north.
  • Dick told Demitier they were going to meet blue dragons isolated for nearly ten thousand years, and Demitier followed in his transformed dragon form.
  • At Azurewing Repose, Stellagosa and the little drakes gathered arcane crystals to sustain Senegos, whose body was failing from a lack of magic.
  • Stellagosa resolved to attack Suramar City for its magic source if necessary, but Dick shattered Azurewing Repose’s shield moments later.
  • Senegos rose and blasted Dick with arcane breath, but Dick endured the attack and said he had brought news of the Nexus.

Ch. 413Tidestone

Dick confronted Senegos and urged the dying blue dragon to return to the Nexus and stop Malygos from endangering the Blue Dragonflight, while revealing he intended to seize the Highborne’s Eye of Aman'Thul. Meanwhile, Das and Dick’s forces stormed the ruins of Narthalas Academy, where a watcher realized they were after the Tidestone.

  • Dick freed Stellagosa from his magical restraints, then spoke with Senegos and learned that the old dragon and Malygos had both been scarred by the Great War of the Dragons.
  • Dick warned Senegos that Malygos’s dangerous ideas threatened the Blue Dragonflight and insisted Senegos must go to the Nexus in person.
  • Dick proposed using the Eye of Aman'Thul to restore Senegos, and hinted that he planned to take it rather than borrow it.
  • At Narthalas Academy, Das used his Lightning Spear to destroy the entrance barrier and door, then led the Mogu Rogues, Tao Shi, and Elegon inside.
  • A hidden figure watched the assault, recognized that the attackers sought the Tidestone, and teleported away.

Ch. 414A noble ghost: Prince Farondis

The mogu rogues and Elegon attacked Narthalas Academy to seize Golganneth's Tidestone, forcing Prince Farondis to confront his former mentor, Headmistress Eirya Bluemoon. • Farondis emerged on a nearby hill with his crown in hand as a voice behind him asked what he was holding.

Ch. 415Deep in the marrow, beyond all cure

Khadgar, Rommath, and Rogelio visited Suramar to offer Arcan'dor as a cure for the Nightborne's mana addiction, but Elisande's people rejected them and mocked the offer. As they left, a mysterious Nightborne woman approached them privately, asking whether they had truly obtained the Miracle Tree.

  • Khadgar and Rommath toured Suramar and saw how the city's shield and excessive Arcane Power had left many Nightborne suffering from mana addiction.
  • A Runeblade Warrior named Ruur refused to arrange an audience with Elisande and gave Khadgar a map to the Tomb of Sargeras.
  • Ruur dismissed Rommath's offer of Arcan'dor, claiming Suramar did not need saving, and challenged him to a contest of wills.
  • Rommath left, calling the Shal'dorei beyond all cure, while Rogelio detected someone following them.
  • A hooded Nightborne woman emerged from the shadows, confirmed her interest in Arcan'dor, and invited them to the World's End Tavern.

Ch. 416Saving themselves in the mists

Anduin escaped Helya’s birdcage and entered the deadly mist, where Harvey followed him and helped him reach a polluted sea. As the two drifted on a plank, a serpent-like monster dragged Harvey underwater, leaving Anduin to decide whether to save him.

Ch. 417Hero or butcher?

After Anduin and Anveena’s abduction, Dick assembled an enormous allied army to attack Suramar and seize the Eye of Aman'Thul. As the assault began, Khadgar wondered whether Dick was a hero or a butcher.

  • Dick rejected Thalyssra’s plan for a joint uprising and ordered Khadgar to secure an opening in Suramar’s shield while Rommath brought Quel'Thalas’s mages and army.
  • Dick said Suramar’s mana-addicted inhabitants could become Demon Hunters, prompting Khadgar to call him a butcher and Rommath to recruit Khadgar’s veteran mages.
  • Jaina, Liadrin, Erigor, Herod, and their forces arrived through Portals, followed by the Earthen Legion and the Mogu Burning Legion led by Jianxi and Taixi.
  • Khadgar surveyed the assembled army and questioned Dick’s motives and his ties to the Illidari.
  • Dick announced that Suramar’s shield was down, then led the allied forces in a charge to take the city.

Ch. 418I don't need to know who you are

Thalyssra broke the Nightwell’s shield to free Suramar, and Dick’s forces stormed the city as Elisande’s rule collapsed. Dick rescued Thalyssra and named her Suramar’s new city lord, while she led the battered rebels into the newly opened city.

  • Thalyssra destroyed an energy conduit in the Nightwell, causing Suramar’s magical shield to fall as Elisande learned of the uprising.
  • Dick entered Suramar as Jianxi, Taixi, the Mogu Guard, the Anubisath, the Earthen, and the Silver Knights breached the city walls.
  • Ruur and the Runeblade Warriors attacked Thalyssra and the wounded rebels in the Hall of Order, but Dick arrived and hurled Ruur into a wall.
  • Dick told Thalyssra that his army had entered the city and declared her Suramar’s new city lord before heading down toward the Eye of Aman'Thul.
  • Thalyssra mocked the injured Ruur, then led her companions out of the Hall of Order as the city’s defenses fell and the shield disappeared.

Ch. 419World Core

After Suramar fell, Dick left the city and returned to Valarjar to discuss the World Pillars with Odyn. Odyn explained the powers of the Tidestone and Eye of Aman'Thul, then gave Dick the Aegis of Aggramar as a defense against Helya and the Shadowlands.

  • Elisande fled Suramar after the fighting ended, while Dick arranged for selected Highborne and civilians to seek refuge in Quel'Thalas and left the remaining Nightborne's fate to Khadgar and Illidan's forces.
  • Dick sent Taixi and Jianxi with the Mogu and Earthen forces to Howling Fjord and sent Erigor's knights to join Tirion Fordring and Mograine in the Borean Tundra.
  • Heimdall told Dick that Anduin Wrynn had helped fourteen spirits escape the Shadowlands, and Dick entered Valarjar with Jaina, Liadrin, Archaedas, and Ironaya.
  • Eir took Jaina and Liadrin to tour Valarjar, while Heimdall led Archaedas and Ironaya away to share a drink.
  • Odyn explained that the Tidestone embodied the ocean's vitality and the Eye of Aman'Thul embodied stability, then gave Dick the Aegis of Aggramar, whose protective power could counter Helya and the Shadowlands.

Ch. 420Helya's true story

Dick spoke with Odyn about the Pantheon's destruction, the guardians’ past, and Helya’s betrayal, then secured Odyn’s support for an attack on Ulduar. At the Maw of the Fallen, Dick reunited with Anduin and prepared to confront Helya.

  • Odyn confessed that he had abandoned Ulduar to Yogg-Saron and explained why he had transformed Helya into the first Val’kyr.
  • Dick told Odyn that Ra-den wanted him to resume his guardian duties, and Odyn agreed to send Heimdall and Eir to help attack Ulduar.
  • Odyn demanded that Dick bring Loken to him so he could punish the traitor himself.
  • Anduin tried to sneak toward the Naglfar at the Maw of the Fallen, but Gavincente caught and dragged him away.
  • Dick reunited with Anduin, who apologized for failing to rescue Anveena, and led him toward a confrontation with Helya.

Ch. 421Return to the Shadowlands

Dick and his allies captured the Naglfar and subdued Hablon, whose starlit form revealed him to be a mysterious Star Spirit Observer. As the ship entered the Shadowlands, Dick and Gavincente challenged Helya, who emerged in a fury to confront them.

  • Gavincente explained that fire could torment Kvaldir in the mortal world, while Dick's team stormed the Naglfar and defeated its crew.
  • Dick broke Hablon's mask, discovered his body was made of starlight, and recognized him as a Star Spirit Observer like Algalon.
  • Dick and his allies overwhelmed Hablon, and Dick bound him after Gavincente stopped him from striking the captive in anger.

  • Helya smashed through part of the Naglfar's deck, but Jaina froze one of her tentacles and Liadrin severed it.
  • Dick wounded Helya's arm and pinned another tentacle while Liadrin and Jaina cut it apart.
  • Helya unleashed a corrosive black tide and a whirlpool, but Gavincente struck her with his axes and Jaina ignited the Naglfar's cannon, blasting off part of a tentacle.
  • Dick unleashed a powerful cross-shaped strike at Helya, then used the Aegis of Aggramar to draw her back into battle as Gavincente, Jaina, and Liadrin closed in.
  • After confirming Helya had left, Anveena woke Immerseus and Lei Shi and urged them to flood the crystal orb and break it open.

Ch. 423Courage

Anduin used his transformed Truthguard to fight through the Helarjar guarding Helya’s Bone Throne and reach the Dark Green Crystal Orb. Before he could take it, the seal broke and a torrent of azure water swept him away as Anveena was freed.

  • Anduin entered the Shadowlands wielding Truthguard in its new Emblem of the Holy Fire form, which shielded him from the mists.
  • Anduin distracted the Helarjar guards with holy-water-filled waterskins, then ambushed the remaining warriors and defeated them using his paladin abilities.

  • Dick shielded the group from Helya’s attacks with the Aegis of Aggramar, but Helya noticed his exhaustion and dissolved into the Shadowlands’ mist.
  • Helya filled the Shadowlands with mist and raised an enormous Helarjar army, trapping Dick, Gavincente, Jaina, and Liadrin inside the Aegis’s shrinking protection.
  • Anduin, Anveena, Immerseus, and Lei Shi traveled beneath the Dead Sea toward the light marking Dick’s position.
  • Anveena divided into hundreds of miniature versions of herself and led Anduin charging through the Helarjar.
