Filthy!
Reeking of blood!
Flecks of blood had dried on the walls.
Muddy water flowed intermittently through the gutters on either side of the street.
Skeletal figures lay sprawled along the gutters, greedily scooping up the filthy water with their hands and swallowing it, utterly ignoring its nauseating stench.
But even this filthy water was limited.
After just a few minutes...
The gutters grew still again.
Only a trickle continued to spill out upstream, but stronger people held those spots firmly.
Those downstream could only watch enviously, smacking their lips for more before weakly rising and disappearing into the dark streets.
This...
Was the Inner City's daily sewage discharge in Sin City.
Once a day!
But to the people of the Outer City, it was like a feast.
Once the sewage ran dry, everyone scattered in tacit agreement, looking forward to the next day.
As for the stomach pains and viruses it might cause...
Those no longer mattered to them.
Without drinking it, they would not even live until dawn.
But...
To their surprise...
Just half a minute after the sluice gate closed, streams of water surged out of the Inner City's gutters again!
And...
There was an enormous amount!
Hearing the sound, everyone rushed forward again in a mass, lying on the ground and waiting!
"Blood..."
"It's blood!"
"The Inner City... is changing hands again!"
Before the flow even reached them, they had already caught the unmistakable scent of fresh blood!
They raised their heads in bewilderment and exchanged looks, then burst into intense delight a moment later.
Fighting in the Inner City...
Was the real feast for these "hyenas" of the Outer City.
But danger and opportunity went hand in hand!
When it was only sewage, everyone could still divide it peacefully, with an unspoken understanding.
