"You're putting me in danger!"
On Eagle Ravine Mountain, the Giant Beast let out a low roar, glaring at Ji Hong, its voice booming like a bell!
"Are you content to remain a mere mountain lord, taking orders from Skyvault Ravine?"
"Not even daring to resist a written command?"
"Today, you're a mountain lord."
"What about tomorrow?"
Ji Hong's expression remained unchanged. He simply watched the Giant Beast calmly and said softly, "The Demon Domain is vast. Twelve mountains, three clans, and even all those newly built Demon Cities. You know better than I do how many rare treasures they hold!"
"At our level, all we lack to reach the pinnacle is an opportunity."
"If we keep growing stronger, Skyvault Ravine might well have a new master."
"What do you think?"
"Or do you enjoy being controlled, willingly letting even your clan and your descendants become cannon fodder?"
"With life and death resting entirely on a whim of those fellows in Skyvault Ravine?"
Ji Hong's voice was quiet and utterly calm, yet it made the Giant Beast fall silent.
A long while passed.
"The Human Race is treacherous."
"I don't trust them enough to cooperate."
"Besides, we're only eighth level. What waves could we possibly make?"
The Giant Beast's voice was heavy, but its earlier anger was gone, replaced by thoughtfulness.
Ji Hong chuckled. "Those actually running Skyvault Ravine are only eighth level themselves."
"As long as the Human Race's ninth-awakening experts stay out of sight, would those ninth-level old fellows in Skyvault Ravine really dare show themselves?"
"Aren't they afraid of drawing the Human Race's attention and being traded one for one?"
"Do you remember the one from Skyvault Ravine who was slain a little while ago?"
"Without their Demon God, that lineage isn't doing very well these days."
