Ch. 1641From the Clouds, Watching Sacrifice and Parting

Yu Sheng confronted Old White Ape to learn the extent of his strength, but was defeated and learned that their power differed by an enormous margin. Old White Ape kept Yu Sheng beside him to watch the seven-day Grand Feast and urged him to reach the Tenth Awakening so he could fight and potentially kill him.

  • Old White Ape greeted Yu Sheng after he emerged from a Space Rift, and Yu Sheng immediately punched him.
  • Their fists shattered the surrounding space, and Old White Ape judged that Yu Sheng had not reached the Tenth Awakening.
  • Old White Ape struck with a seemingly weak punch, but blocked Yu Sheng's full-power attack and left him badly injured.
  • Old White Ape explained the gulf between their strength and said the Tenth Awakening depended on the heart, not simply more spiritual energy or power of laws.
  • Old White Ape carried Yu Sheng into the air and told him to watch the seven-day Grand Feast, reach the Tenth Awakening, and fight him; if Yu Sheng killed him, the Human Race would have peace.

Ch. 1642A surprise worth anticipating

Old White Ape provoked Yu Sheng by threatening to kill humans whenever Yu Sheng failed to answer him, then killed a soldier and declared the grand feast had begun. He settled in to watch the coming battle, while Yu Sheng continued absorbing Demon Crystals and Old White Ape predicted he would reach the Tenth Awakening within seven days.

  • Old White Ape challenged Yu Sheng to talk and threatened to kill random humans for every question Yu Sheng left unanswered.
  • Yu Sheng agreed, but Old White Ape killed a human soldier anyway and announced that the grand feast had begun.
  • Old White Ape created cloud sofas, sat down, and asked Yu Sheng what he thought of his entrance using the blood of the sincere demon to stain the Demon Beasts’ hides.
  • Yu Sheng said he had been busy and had not watched, and Old White Ape guessed that the missing brawny man might be Yu Sheng’s trump card.
  • Old White Ape told Yu Sheng that absorbing spiritual energy would not bring him to the Tenth Awakening, but that his path would lead him there within seven days.
  • Old White Ape watched the battle and mocked the Demon Gods for hiding in dark clouds to distinguish themselves from other Demon Beasts.

Ch. 1643Let the name of our Reserve Corps endure through the ages!

Yu Sheng rejected Old White Ape’s reasoning and said he still wanted to kill him, while the Human Race prepared for the decisive battle at Demon-Suppressing Pass. Zhong Yushu rallied the Reserve Corps, and Ji Hong arrived among the Demon Domain’s forces as Old White Ape anticipated the clash.

  • Yu Sheng told Old White Ape that he wanted to kill him to prevent his own death and stop Old White Ape from killing others.
  • Yu Mo looked to Zhong Yushu and indicated that the battle could begin.
  • Zhong Yushu put on the clothes he had worn when he first ascended the pass and called the Reserve Corps to fight.
  • The Reserve Corps answered Zhong Yushu with cries of “Kill” as their fighting will rose against the Demon Domain’s demonic aura.
  • Old White Ape noted that the Demon Domain lacked the Nine-Tailed Fox but had trained officers, then watched Ji Hong join its ranks.

Ch. 1644Hypocritical Kindness

Old White Ape explained his plan to erase all races and create a world without thought or judgment, then watched the battle begin below. Yu Sheng challenged his claim that he was helping others, while Old White Ape dismissed him and returned to watching the carnage.

  • Old White Ape lamented that Ji Hong insulted him and declared he would wipe out every race to build a new world of mindless unity.
  • Old White Ape predicted that the opening days of the battle would pit the lowest ranks against each other, while Yu Sheng listened.
  • The forces below collided, and the front ranks on both sides were killed and trampled within seconds.
  • Old White Ape delighted in the slaughter and mocked Ji Hong for being unable to intervene.
  • Yu Sheng told Old White Ape that no one could decide other people's fates for them, but Old White Ape called his concern hypocritical kindness and said he was saving the foolish.
  • Old White Ape abruptly softened his expression and told Yu Sheng they should simply watch.

Ch. 1645Shackles

As the battle outside Demon-Suppressing Pass raged, Old White Ape praised Yu Mo's defensive formation and tried to take a commemorative photo with Yu Sheng. Yu Sheng's blunt remarks drove Old White Ape to reveal his rage over the shackles that had shaped the world and his survival over thousands of years.

  • Ranged Awakened and shield-bearing defenders at Demon-Suppressing Pass coordinated to repel Bird-Type Demon Beasts and strike back.
  • Old White Ape praised Yu Mo's formation and tried to take a selfie with Yu Sheng, threatening Qi Changshan to make Yu Sheng cooperate.
  • Yu Sheng questioned whether the person in Old White Ape's photo was really him and said that, years earlier, Old White Ape could not defeat anyone.
  • Old White Ape grabbed Yu Sheng's collar and blamed the shackles left by the Feather Race for the world's state and his own suffering over thousands of years.

Ch. 1646Thousands of Years of Loneliness

Old White Ape explained how centuries of loneliness, betrayal, and persecution drove him to seek the world’s destruction. He remained determined to create a New World and suggested Yu Sheng might live to see it.

  • Old White Ape recounted being left awake while his fellow experiment slept, then enduring endless darkness and isolation.
  • He described teaching early humans civilization before their descendants attacked him, and later hiding among the Beast Race only to face further cruelty.
  • Old White Ape said he welcomed the awakening of his fellow experiment’s shackles and was grateful to Ji Hong and Yu Sheng for giving him hope.
  • He accused Yu Sheng of treating him with disdain and declared that he would overturn the world unless Yu Sheng grew strong enough to kill him.
  • Yu Sheng said neither of them was wrong to follow his chosen path and observed that Old White Ape feared death.
  • Old White Ape admitted his fear and considered sparing Yu Sheng so he could witness the New World.

Ch. 1647What, Exactly, Was My Sin?

The first day of battle ended after heavy losses on both sides, while Yu Mo concluded that the sacrifices were meant to push Yu Sheng toward his final step. Old White Ape questioned whether humans truly rejected other races, and Yu Sheng cited Big White’s life among them as a counterexample.

  • A Tai urged Zhao Zicheng to join the battle, but Zhao Zicheng said acting would only worsen the chaos, and A Tai challenged a Demon Lord to fight him one-on-one.
  • Yu Mo told Confucian Scholar that the battlefield’s sacrifices served Old White Ape’s plan to stir Yu Sheng and urged him to return to Sin City, but Confucian Scholar chose to stay.
  • The battle continued until nightfall, when both sides withdrew and a Demon God shattered the corpses scattered across the battlefield.
  • Old White Ape praised the first day’s fighting and noted that humans fought on even as they died, unlike many fleeing Demon Beasts.
  • Old White Ape asked Yu Sheng why humans rejected other races, and Yu Sheng answered that the Heavenly Race and Feather Race were the ones who rejected outsiders, pointing to Big White’s good life among humans.

Ch. 1648It wasn't me who killed them. It was you

Zhong Yushu challenged the Demon Lords, but Old White Ape arranged a duel between him and Ji Hong instead, which ended in a draw. Old White Ape threatened to escalate the war the next day as Yu Sheng tried to understand the path to the tenth awakening.

  • Zhong Yushu left the city and challenged the Demon Lords of the Demon Domain to fight.
  • Old White Ape called Ji Hong out to face Zhong Yushu, mocking their past and forcing them to fight.
  • Ji Hong and Zhong Yushu battled for around half an hour before the fight ended in a draw.
  • Old White Ape told Yu Sheng that people he knew might die the next day and insisted that Yu Sheng would be responsible if he failed to reach the tenth awakening.
  • Yu Sheng discarded his Demon Crystals and meditated on the Dao resonance while Old White Ape anticipated the next day's battle.

Ch. 1649Ji Hong of the Human Race

Old White Ape launched the Demon Domain’s full assault and brought Yu Sheng to watch Ji Hong reveal himself. Ji Hong announced his breakthrough to the Demon God Realm, leaving both human and demon forces stunned.

  • Old White Ape urged the Demon Beasts and Demon Lords to attack the human passes, and the full-scale war began.
  • Old White Ape and Yu Sheng concealed themselves near Ji Hong to witness what he would do.
  • Ji Hong reflected on the Fourth Generation of the human race and challenged Old White Ape’s prediction about Skyvault Ravine and a slain Demon God.
  • Ji Hong drew the attention of both armies as he announced that he would break through to the Demon God Realm.
  • Demon Aura gathered around Ji Hong, and he became a true Demon God within minutes.

Ch. 1650The glory that belonged to the Fourth Generation alone

Yu Mo realized that Ji Hong was carrying out the Fourth Generation’s plan and pleaded with him to stop, but ultimately trusted his teacher’s preparations. Ji Hong rejected his Demon identity before the Demon Gods and began unleashing his power, leaving them sealed away from him.

  • Yu Mo recognized that Ji Hong was acting on long-held plans and begged the Confucian Scholar to stop him, then stopped the Confucian Scholar from intervening because he believed Ji Hong had prepared for everything.
  • Yu Mo reflected that the Fourth Generation had become part of the past and understood that Ji Hong was trying to honor his fallen comrades’ convictions.
  • A Demon God reminded Ji Hong of his oath to bloodbath the Human Race, and Ji Hong declared himself Ji Hong of the Human Race.
  • Ji Hong tore the fur from his body, condemned his Demon identity, and poured out his demon aura as the earth shook and his skin split.
  • The Demon Gods attacked Ji Hong, but a rising peak and an invisible barrier kept them from reaching him.

Ch. 1651A free spirit in white scholar's robes, standing in the cold night, envying the spring breeze

Ji Hong sacrificed himself to rupture the Demon Domain’s earth veins, severing the Demon Clan’s connection to the land and weakening its forces. As the Human Race honored him, Yu Sheng was left to continue the fight while Old White Ape urged the demons to attack.

  • Ji Hong thanked Old White Ape for having trusted him, then invoked the fourth generation of the Human Race as he prepared to destroy the Demon Domain’s earth veins.
  • Ji Hong declared that the fourth generation’s name would be vindicated, and the earth veins erupted as the people at Demon-Suppressing Pass saluted him.
  • Yu Mo and Xin Yongfeng mourned Ji Hong’s lost years and recognized the purpose behind his actions.
  • Ji Hong told Yu Sheng that the rest was up to him, admitted he had never disdained Old White Ape for being a demon, and burned to ash.
  • The Demon Beasts felt the land reject them, while the Demon Kings, Demon Lords, and Demon Gods found their recovery and use of laws impaired.
  • Old White Ape ordered the demons to kill the humans and challenged their hesitation to fight.

Ch. 1652The world would remember

Old White Ape explained that he had allowed Ji Hong to die because intervening would have denied his friend’s choice, then vowed to stay out of the coming war. As he showed Yu Sheng another soldier’s self-sacrifice, Yu Sheng insisted that the fallen would be remembered and challenged Old White Ape’s belief that humans were all alike.

  • Old White Ape mourned Ji Hong, accusing him of using his own death to soften Old White Ape’s heart, then declared he would not interfere in the war.
  • Old White Ape brought Yu Sheng to a young man who had died protecting his second brother before charging into the Demon Beasts and detonating his energy.
  • Old White Ape claimed no one would remember the young man, but Yu Sheng said his family, comrades, and the world would remember those who created history to protect future generations.
  • Old White Ape called Yu Sheng brainwashed and insisted that humans were selfish and fundamentally alike.
  • Yu Sheng argued that he had met people willing to sacrifice themselves for companions and ideals, and said another person’s spiritual energy remained within him and in his heart.

Ch. 1653The human heart is greedy by nature

Old White Ape tried to convince Yu Sheng that every race was selfish and that he had to abandon emotion to reach the Tenth Awakening. Yu Sheng rejected the idea that one worldview could be forced on everyone, leaving their conflict unresolved.

  • Old White Ape showed Yu Sheng Sikong Nan fighting humans alongside Barbarian City's Demon Beasts and argued that humans were no better than other races.
  • Old White Ape showed Yu Sheng a cowardly fifth-level Demon Beast dying beneath the trampling feet of its own kind, then claimed detachment was necessary to become a sovereign.
  • Old White Ape brought Yu Sheng to Demon-Suppressing Pass and described Xu Yuanqing as a greedy man fighting only for personal gain.
  • Yu Sheng defended Sikong Nan's freedom to choose sides, noting that he owed the Human Race nothing and had helped it through his Black Market.
  • Yu Sheng recalled Xu Yuanqing's generosity toward the Human Race, soldiers, children, and his students, then told Old White Ape that their opposing desires were both valid but imposing beliefs on others was wrong.

Ch. 1654The person you care about most

Yu Sheng explained to Old White Ape that the goodness of the people beside him had helped him choose a path of warmth and protection despite witnessing darkness. Old White Ape took him to Deep Mountain to test his beliefs, while Xu Yuanqing continued fighting after a Demon Lord ambushed him.

  • Yu Sheng told Old White Ape that the light and goodness of his companions had shaped his outlook and made him happy.
  • Old White Ape rejected Yu Sheng's view, vowed to prove the world's ugliness, and took him to Deep Mountain to see his classmates.
  • A Demon Lord ambushed Xu Yuanqing and sent him flying while Yu Sheng remained restrained by Old White Ape.
  • Xu Yuanqing recovered and attacked the Demon Lord, which discovered it could not use its talent divine ability.
  • Xu Yuanqing wounded the Demon Lord, and it fled in panic.

Ch. 1655Strike While He's Down

Ji Hong’s lingering effect weakened the Demon Beasts, prompting the human race’s Ninth Awakening fighters to attack the Demon Gods before they could recover. As the decisive battles spread across the Four Passes, Zhong Yushu held off a Demon God with the Reserve Corps’ fighting spirit, and Confucian Scholar stepped in to protect him.

  • Ji Hong’s effect continued to injure Demon Beasts and slow their recovery, leaving the human race with the advantage if the fighting continued.
  • Yu Sanshui charged Bifang, while Big Sister Soul Hunt and Black Market Grandpa attacked Sky Dog and Zhu Yan.
  • Ninth Awakening fighters at the other Three Passes also entered battle, turning the widespread clashes into decisive fights between humans and Demon Gods.
  • Zhong Yushu blocked the last Demon God at Demon-Suppressing Pass, then wounded him with a spear thrust powered by the Reserve Corps’ fighting spirit.
  • When the Demon God lunged to kill Zhong Yushu, Confucian Scholar intercepted him with streams of the power of Laws.

Ch. 1656Big Dipper Second Lady

Zhong Yushu and Confucian Scholar continued fighting a Demon God while Sun Yingxiong and Big Dipper Second Lady faced three others at Dawn Pass. After Brawny Man engaged Taotie, Big Dipper Second Lady destroyed her Awakening Object to gain enough strength to attack the remaining Demon Gods, accepting that her life was nearing its end.

  • Confucian Scholar helped Zhong Yushu hold off a Demon God, though the fight left him injured and exhausted.
  • Sun Yingxiong arrived at Dawn Pass and said he would guard the post his son had once held.
  • Brawny Man leaped into the battle, dragged Taotie to the ground, and declared he was there to protect Sun Yingxiong so he could eat Demon God meat.
  • Taotie broke free and planned to wear Brawny Man down before attacking Sun Yingxiong and Old Woman.
  • Old Woman revealed she was Big Dipper Second Lady and burned her blood essence, then destroyed her Awakening Object to gain power for the fight.

Ch. 1657Yu Sheng, I lied to you again...

Old White Ape tried to push Yu Sheng toward the Tenth Awakening by sending a large demon force to attack Deep Mountain. Yu Mo assured Yuan Qingshan that Deep Mountain was prepared, but admitted to himself that he had lied to both Yuan Qingshan and Yu Sheng, and remained on the wall awaiting the dawn.

  • Old Woman destroyed her Awakening Object and urged Sun Yingxiong to keep fighting, while Blind Old Man joined the Human Race forces to fill their remaining gap.
  • Old White Ape watched Yu Sheng and the defenders at Deep Mountain, then ordered another demon force to attack and provoke Yu Sheng.
  • Yuan Qingshan called for reinforcements, but Yu Mo told him Deep Mountain could hold and claimed he had prepared a surprise for the demons.
  • Yu Mo privately admitted he had lied to Yu Sheng and Yuan Qingshan, saying he could not die before seeing the dawn, then stayed seated atop Demon-Suppressing Pass as the fighting continued.

Ch. 1658Different paths, no common cause

Old White Ape forced Yu Sheng to watch the defense of Deep Mountain collapse, trying to provoke him into reclaiming his Heavenly Race identity. Meanwhile, Xu Yuanqing condemned Yu Mo’s willingness to sacrifice his students, severed their ties, and went to save them himself.

  • Old White Ape showed Yu Sheng his friends fighting at Deep Mountain and taunted him with the deaths they might suffer because of Yu Mo’s plans.
  • Yu Sheng begged Old White Ape to spare his friends, but Old White Ape bound him to a tree and declared that he would make Yu Sheng watch them die.
  • The Demon Beasts overran Deep Mountain’s outer defense, leaving Zhao Zicheng and the others as the final defensive line while Xin Yongfeng remained at the summit.
  • Xu Yuanqing confronted Yu Mo for failing to send troops, punched him, and heard him defend sacrificing his students to save more people.
  • Xu Yuanqing said the Ink Pavilion would not abandon anyone, ended his relationship with Yu Mo, and set off for Deep Mountain to save his students.

Ch. 1659The 140th Cohort had more than just Yu Sheng...

Xin Yongfeng detonated Deep Mountain’s hidden explosives, wiping out the lesser demon beasts but leaving fifteen Demon Lords to face the wounded defenders. As Mu Yu began a ritual and asked them to hold the Demon Lords for ten minutes, Zhao Zicheng and the others prepared to protect him.

  • Bai Haitang watched Yu Mo and Xu Yuanqing from the wounded soldiers’ camp, then took her spear and slipped away alone.
  • Xin Yongfeng activated Deep Mountain’s hidden defenses and detonated the Laboratory’s explosives, killing every demon beast below the Demon King Realm and badly injuring many Demon Kings.
  • Old White Ape told Yu Sheng that Yu Mo was counting on him to win and urged him to watch what was about to happen.
  • Zhao Zicheng, A Tai, Lin Xiaoxiao, and Xin Yongfeng faced fifteen uninjured Demon Lords despite their own wounds.
  • Mu Yu said he needed ten minutes, then sat beside his gravestone and began chanting as the Demon Lords charged toward him.
  • Zhao Zicheng and the others moved to hold off the Demon Lords, declaring that the 140th Cohort had more than just Yu Sheng.

Ch. 1660Protection

Zhao Zicheng, A Tai, Big White, Xin Yongfeng, and Lin Xiaoxiao fought to hold back the Demon Lords while Mu Yu worked at the Gravestone and Yu Sheng resisted Old White Ape’s plan. After their defenses fell one by one, the Demon God confronted A Tai as the last protector standing.

  • A Tai, Big White, Xin Yongfeng, Zhao Zicheng, and Lin Xiaoxiao stopped the Demon Lords’ first charge, while Mu Yu continued working on the Gravestone behind them.
  • Old White Ape urged Yu Sheng to shatter his heart and break through to the tenth awakening, but Yu Sheng’s heart kept beating faster.
  • A Tai charged into the Demon Lords’ second assault, and Zhao Zicheng formed a shield to protect his friends and elders.
  • Zhao Zicheng’s shield held until a Heavenly Dog Clan Demon Lord shattered it, leaving Zhao Zicheng unable to stand.
  • Lin Xiaoxiao stepped in front of A Tai to protect him, but the Demon God swept her aside and turned its attention to A Tai.
