Last night, looking at the empty Uchiha Clan Compound, she had actually felt a little dazed.
Decades had passed in the blink of an eye.
She wondered whether the clan members in the Land of Grass were doing well, and whether those in power valued them.
At the time, a child had run over here. Seeing the residence still empty and silent, he had simply kept crying.
Why was he crying?
That was what she had asked.
"My best friend lived here. He used to come out and play with me at this time every day. Now I can't see him anymore. I miss him so much. Waaah."
She gently stroked the boy's head.
Looking at the vast stretch of abandoned residences, Uchiha Chiri smiled helplessly. Perhaps this was the Uchiha's fate, even though they had once been part of this place.
In the end, they had still been unable to fit in.
Her thoughts returned to the meeting. Uchiha Chiri listened expressionlessly as the Hokage settled on a general course of action.
Madara Uchiha glanced at her.
"Uchiha Chiri, what are you troubled about?"
His Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan conveyed that message.
"The clan, or the village? I find myself quite lost. You and Hashirama Senju founded Konoha, yet failed to leave the Uchiha any ground on which to survive. That saddens me."
"Still hung up on the clan? How pathetic.
You have potential. Your vision shouldn't be confined to the clan. You should be looking at the world."
Madara Uchiha snorted.
Uchiha Chiri's era was actually not far removed from his own. After he and Hashirama Senju founded Konoha, Uchiha Chiri had begun making a name for herself.
By the time he left the village, she was already a powerful figure among the clan's leadership whose reputation commanded awe.
