Appearance

  • Earlier-timeline appearance: Handsome, with a straight-backed posture; wears blue robes while preparing Ah Yin’s resurrection 287.
  • After becoming Sea God: His eyes become a deep azure blue, and his divine body naturally floats in midair 278.

  • Future counterpart: Has long azure-blue hair and deep blue eyes, and wears the Sea God’s blue robes 369 404 426.

Personality

Tang San is observant and suspicious of unfamiliar people. As a reborn person, he possesses intuition beyond that of his peers: he senses danger from Bai Qinchen immediately and questions how Bai recognized the masked Shrek Seven Devils 2.

He can plan patiently when facing an overwhelmingly stronger opponent. After learning of Yu Xiaogang’s death, he initially accepts that revenge must wait until he has sufficient strength. Xiao Wu is the exception to this restraint: news of her relationship with Bai Qinchen drives him to threaten a break with companions who try to stop him, and he later lashes out even at Tang Hao 55 64.

His attachment to his family also produces tenderness and self-sacrifice. He offers Tang Hao the opportunity to inherit the Asura God position, exhausts himself reviving Ah Yin, and shields her resurrection cocoon despite facing six opponents while depleted 287.

The future God King emphasizes composure and rebukes Tang Wulin for surrendering to grief, yet loses his own restraint when Xiao Wu is endangered. Later, he repeatedly suppresses his anger to protect Lie Yan and his companions, choosing negotiation or withdrawal when direct violence would endanger them 77 372 432 468.

History

Shrek Seven Devils and Bai Qinchen’s Arrival

Tang San meets Bai Qinchen when the Shrek group arrives at Liu Erlong’s academy. Although he politely introduces himself, he questions Bai’s claim to recognize the Seven Devils from their masked matches at the Soto Great Soul Arena. The encounter also brings him into conflict with Liu Erlong; Flender intervenes, and Bai Qinchen persuades her to spare him 2.

Bai Qinchen later identifies Tang San as the practical center of the Shrek Seven Devils. In his assessment, Yu Xiaogang supplied the plan for unifying the team, while Tang San’s strength and relationships made its implementation possible 15.

Dugu Bo and the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well

Dugu Bo captures Tang San and takes him to the Sunset Forest. Xiao Wu urgently seeks help, while Bai Qinchen exploits her concern to pressure her. Bai privately tells Liu Erlong that Tang San and Dugu Bo will reach an agreement and that a genuine rescue battle is unnecessary 3 4.

Tang San remains at the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, cultivating and developing hidden weapons. He demonstrates the Mother-Child Soul-Chasing Life-Taking Orb to Dugu Bo and eventually prepares to return with Immortal Herbs for his companions 34 55.

During his absence, the Shrek group fractures. Xiao Wu joins Zhu Zhuqing’s side after Bai Qinchen threatens to expose her soul-beast identity, and subsequently develops a romantic relationship with him 11 34.

Failed Attack on Bai Qinchen

Dai Mubai, Oscar, and Ma Hongjun find Tang San and tell him about Yu Xiaogang’s death and Xiao Wu’s relationship with Bai Qinchen. Although he recognizes that Bai’s Titled Douluo backing makes immediate revenge dangerous, his concern for Xiao Wu overwhelms that calculation 55.

He infiltrates the academy with his companions and watches Xiao Wu with Bai Qinchen. Initially withholding fire to avoid injuring her, he eventually launches a crossbow ambush. When confronted, Xiao Wu declares that his attack on Bai Qinchen has ended their brother-sister relationship 59.

Tang San then fights Bai Qinchen using Blue Silver Grass, his Eight Spider Soul Bone, and hidden weapons. Tang Hao intervenes when the confrontation escalates, facing Bibi Dong and Meng Linglong 60.

After escaping, Tang San demands that the others return for Xiao Wu and accuses Tang Hao of failing to rescue her. Tang Hao knocks him unconscious to stop his breakdown. His agitation persists afterward, requiring continued supervision 64 87.

Sea God Inheritance

Tang San later undergoes Tidal Body Tempering at Sea God Island. His supporters attempt to keep Bibi Dong’s side from interrupting his ascension, with Tang Hao detonating his Soul Rings in a desperate defense 272 273 274.

Tang San ultimately enters the final inheritance without completing the intermediate trials and without the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud. Hatred of Bai Qinchen sustains him through the ordeal, and he successfully becomes Sea God 278.

His triumph is short-lived. The Sea God’s phantom explains that Bai Qinchen controls the Sea God Hall and has allies stronger than Tang San. Rather than attack immediately, he accepts the need to survive, master his new power, and await assistance from the Divine Realm 279.

Ah Yin’s Resurrection and Death

At the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, Tang San urges Tang Hao to pursue the Asura God inheritance while he revives Ah Yin. He explains that his own inheritance requires Xiao Wu as a sheath, an arrangement no longer available to him 287.

After days of channeling Sea God’s Light, he brings Ah Yin’s soul and body close to restoration. Bai Qinchen arrives with several allies at this critical moment. Already exhausted, Tang San is overwhelmed by Jiang Nannan, Xiao Xiao, Tang Ya, Ice Empress, Snow Empress, and Yali 287.

Bound and subsequently imprisoned in ice, he is forced to witness Bai Qinchen’s coercion and abuse of Ah Yin. His attempts to break free fail. Bai Qinchen eventually has him killed; Jiang Nannan reports the completion of the act while Ah Yin remains unaware of her son’s death 288 289 291 292 293.

Future God King and Temporal Intervention

A future Tang San already exists as a god, husband of Xiao Wu, and father of Tang Wutong and Tang Wulin. He recognizes that interference with Xiao Wu in the past threatens their family’s existence and mobilizes his descendants through the Gate of Time 35 77.

After his earlier self is killed, the future Tang San experiences the consequences of an attempt to erase a God King’s past. He joins the other gods in confronting the crisis. Later, Ji Dong states that injuries, expenditure of his origin during Temporal Turbulence, and a clash with the God of Destruction have reduced him to less than thirty percent of his usual strength 294 315.

Investigations in the Earlier Divine Realm

Tang San investigates the deaths and disappearances of allied God Kings, repeatedly suspecting Bai Qinchen despite apparent alibis. He proposes using the God Kings’ female relatives as guards after direct male supervision is rejected 373 374.

Bai Qinchen’s soul connection with Lie Yan prevents Tang San from killing him without also destroying her. This constraint repeatedly forces him to suppress his anger, including when Bai taunts him about Xiao Wu and Ah Yin 372.

The earlier Divine Realm Committee refuses to recognize the visitors as its comrades. Tang San resolves to investigate and avenge the losses independently, while the original Sea God offers assistance out of regret for failing to protect Tang San’s earlier self 412 413 414.

Further confrontations force him to protect Lei Xiang, negotiate with the reigning gods, and accept painful compromises. Eventually, he agrees that his surviving group should return to its own future rather than continue losing lives in another era’s conflict 426 427 432 440 456.

Return to the Great God Realm

Back in the future Great God Realm, Tang San resumes administrative duties while caring for Xiao Wu’s unsettled Divine Soul. He imprisons Bai Qinchen under heavy restrictions but still cannot execute him because of Lie Yan 459 461 463.

Further deaths undermine his security measures. Xiao Wu and Lie Yan provide testimony placing Bai Qinchen in the dungeon, frustrating his effort to connect him to Sea Dragon’s death. Tang San takes Xiao Wu away and forbids unnecessary dungeon visits 467 468.

By Chapter 472, he admits that he hopes the murderer is someone else—not because he trusts Bai Qinchen, but because an unrelated culprit could be fought without endangering Lie Yan or the Divine Realm’s core 472.
