Bibi Dong grew up in Spirit Hall and became its Saintess, receiving extensive cultivation support for her exceptional talent. Qian Daoliu regarded her potential departure with Yu Xiaogang, a member of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect, as a threat to Spirit Hall's future 579.

She remembered first meeting Yu Xiaogang in an archive pavilion, where he knocked her down while she was carrying documents. Her affection survived years of separation, and she used her position to promote his reputation and elevate him to a Spirit Hall elder 492 500.

Xu Ran later revealed that Yu Xiaogang had deliberately approached her to access Spirit Hall's accumulated knowledge. Her own research into safely cultivating twin Martial Souls also reached Tang San through him 624 657.

Qian Xunji and the Papacy

Qian Xunji's abuse and the suppression of her relationship with Yu Xiaogang left Bibi Dong deeply resentful of Spirit Hall and the Qian family. After Tang Hao severely injured Qian Xunji, she poisoned him, causing his death 279 536 681.

She rose to the papacy seeking control over her destiny and, by her later admission, an opportunity to destroy Spirit Hall from within. She also directed her resentment toward Qian Renxue, sending her daughter away to the Heaven Dou Empire 631 654 681.

Despite those motives, her administration made Spirit Hall exceptionally powerful and feared. Her authority was not absolute: Qian Daoliu retained greater influence among the senior leadership, while Chrysanthemum Douluo and Ghost Douluo were identified as her principal powerful supporters 279 523 568.

Bibi Dong is proud, commanding, and decisive toward enemies. Her methods earn admiration even from Spirit Hall elders dissatisfied with her papacy. In personal relationships, however, she is far less assured: Yu Xiaogang's accusations leave her anxious and unable to explain herself despite her political authority and strength 492 568 628.

Her attachment to Yu Xiaogang becomes inseparable from her desire to prove that she can choose her own life. She avoids investigating his conduct because discovering his deception would undermine the purpose that sustained her through years of suffering 533 631.

Beneath her severity, she is affectionate and deeply concerned about Qian Renxue. Guilt over her daughter's upbringing becomes more important to her than retaining the papacy. Her development is marked by accepting responsibility for Tang San's appointment, offering Qian Renxue her position without resistance, and explaining the origins of her hatred 513 659 681.

Her feelings for Xu Ran develop amid coercion, unwanted intimacy, and emotional manipulation. She initially rejects him, later rationalizes his behavior as concealed kindness, and eventually openly declares her love after breaking with Yu Xiaogang 500 527 551 678 718.

Believing Yu Xiaogang's account of Xu Ran's cruelty, Bibi Dong promises to kill Xu Ran personally. She travels to Heaven Dou City and attacks with the Death Spider Emperor, but Gu Yuena immobilizes her before she can succeed 492 494 496 497.

With her cultivation sealed, she agrees to nurse Xu Ran for up to ten days in exchange for secrecy and eventual release. Xu Ran uses her captivity, her concern for Yu Xiaogang, and her desire to reconcile with Qian Renxue to pressure her into greater intimacy 500 501 526 527.

Tournament and Exposure of Yu Xiaogang

At the Heaven Dou tournament, Bibi Dong secretly serves Xu Ran while witnessing his relationship with Qian Renxue. Although she admits that she and Xu Ran are a couple, she remains conflicted and later attempts to describe his attachment as familial rather than romantic 513 537 562.

After returning to Spirit Hall, she receives the Eight Spider Lances and evolves her External Soul Bone. Yu Xiaogang's accusations and destruction of medicine she brings him further strain their relationship 623 624 629 634.

Xu Ran eventually tells her how Yu Xiaogang exploited her. Tang San's exposure reinforces her doubts, and hearing Yu Xiaogang's own insults finally ends her attachment. She kills him and accepts Xu Ran's comfort 657 658 678.

Family Reckoning and Divine Inheritance

When Qian Renxue demands control of Spirit Hall, Bibi Dong agrees to relinquish the position whenever her daughter wishes. She then admits that revenge—not a simple desire for power—drove her earlier actions and explains the suffering behind her treatment of Qian Renxue 681.

Xu Ran subsequently frees her from the Rakshasa God's control. They visit Slaughter City, where the Asura God accepts her for his examinations. She later helps make Ah Rou's resurrection possible by allowing the safe extraction of the ring and bone she possesses 696 706 713 727.

Douluo Federation

At Xu Ran's wedding, Bibi Dong joins Qian Daoliu in endorsing the proposed Douluo Federation. She publicly states that Spirit Hall will follow Xu Ran's instructions, explaining his authority through his marriage to Qian Renxue, Spirit Hall's future Pope 931 932.
