Ch. 241Poison Domain

Kisuke Urahara used Kannonbiraki Benihime Aratame to restore his eyes and remodel Askin’s arm and poison Barrier. Askin countered by sealing them inside an adaptive Poison Domain, and Urahara’s repeated attempts to reconstruct his body began to fail as the toxins intensified.

  • Kisuke Urahara summoned his Bankai, which stitched his ruined eyes back together.
  • Urahara struck Askin and used Kannonbiraki Benihime Aratame to remodel his arm, then changed Askin’s poison Barrier into water.
  • Askin unleashed a sealed Poison Domain that filled the area with lethal, corrosive gas.
  • Urahara remodeled his respiratory system to filter the poison, but Askin adapted the toxin to Urahara’s Reiatsu and overwhelmed the new defenses.
  • Urahara fell to one knee as the intensifying poison ruptured his blood vessels faster than his Bankai could repair them.

Ch. 242Reinforcements arrived

Askin nearly killed Kisuke Urahara inside his poison Barrier, but Gin Ichimaru arrived and struck Askin through the abdomen with Kamishini no Yari. Askin healed and expanded the Barrier to trap Gin as well, leaving both captains inside while he mocked them.

  • Askin overwhelmed the weakened Kisuke Urahara, whose Reiatsu had fallen too low for Benihime to penetrate Askin's defense.
  • Askin prepared to finish Urahara, who appeared to surrender as a tactic.
  • Gin Ichimaru called Bankai and pierced Askin's abdomen with Kamishini no Yari from outside the poison Barrier.
  • Askin escaped the strike with Shunpo and healed the wound using the poison domain's material.
  • Askin expanded his Barrier, trapping Gin inside with himself and Urahara.
  • Urahara questioned why Gin had not aimed for Askin's head, while Gin told him not to worry.

Ch. 243Backup plans upon backup plans

Gin Ichimaru revealed that Kisuke Urahara had helped him recover from Askin’s poison and that Urahara’s desperate efforts had bought time for outside support. Askin believed the two Soul Reapers had no way to escape his Poison Domain, but Gin hinted that their plan had already succeeded and challenged Askin’s understanding of his Zanpakuto.

  • Askin questioned how Gin Ichimaru had recovered from the paralysis, and Gin credited Kisuke Urahara with giving him something useful.
  • Askin deduced that Urahara had been buying time for backup, and Urahara explained that he had hoped an attack from outside might breach the Poison Domain.
  • Askin praised Urahara’s preparations but insisted that his domain and defensive ability left the Soul Reapers with no chance to turn the fight around.
  • Gin Ichimaru declared that they had already succeeded, but Askin dismissed his claim and advanced as the poison condensed around them.
  • Gin showed Askin a chipped spot on his Zanpakuto and asked how much the Wandenreich knew about its abilities.
  • Askin recited his intelligence on Shinsō and Kamishini no Yari, and Gin said his account was almost right but missing one detail.

Ch. 244Kamishini no Yari's true ability

Gin Ichimaru revealed that Kamishini no Yari was a Kidō-type Zanpakuto whose hidden poison left a fragment inside Askin, then detonated it and disintegrated him. With Askin dead, his poisonous domain vanished, leaving Kisuke Urahara to recover and ask Gin whether he would silence him for what he had overheard.

  • Gin Ichimaru explained that he had concealed Kamishini no Yari’s true ability for over a century while preparing to use it against Sōsuke Aizen.
  • Gin revealed that Kamishini no Yari was Kidō-type and that its blade left a poisonous fragment inside Askin when it struck him.
  • Gin detonated the fragment, and Askin disintegrated into powder before he could escape or speak.
  • Askin’s death caused the poisonous barrier and miasma to disperse, freeing Kisuke Urahara from the domain.
  • Kisuke Urahara recovered enough to ask Gin Ichimaru whether he planned to silence him for overhearing the revelation.

Ch. 245The X-Axis

Gin Ichimaru and Kisuke Urahara watched the fighting continue in Wahrwelt as Lille Barro used The X-Axis to devastate the Soul Reapers. Shunsui Kyōraku intervened to protect them and drew his twin Zanpakuto to face Lille Barro.

  • Gin Ichimaru sheathed Kamishini no Yari, warned Kisuke Urahara about his poison, and looked toward the fighting in Wahrwelt with him.
  • Lille Barro used The X-Axis to shoot through stone cover and kill or injure Soul Reapers, leaving Shūhei Hisagi and Marechiyo Ōmaeda unable to fight back.
  • Shūhei Hisagi attacked Lille Barro from the air, but Shunsui Kyōraku deflected the shot and carried Hisagi to safety.
  • Nanao Ise set up a defensive line while Shunsui Kyōraku confronted Lille Barro, who claimed to be the creation closest to God.
  • Shunsui Kyōraku drew his twin Zanpakuto and released Katen Kyōkotsu.

Ch. 246Kyōraku gravely wounded

  • Shunsui Kyōraku used Kageoni and Takaoni to attack Lille Barro, but Lille identified how the games worked and took the advantage of height while destroying the shadows.
  • Lille Barro’s relentless shots forced Shunsui to dodge across the ruins and destroyed his hat, while Shunsui warned Nanao Ise to stay behind cover.
  • Shunsui used Bushōgoma to obscure Lille’s aim, then tried to strike him with Irooni, but Lille blocked the blow and wounded Shunsui’s left shoulder with a grazing shot.
  • Nanao Ise left cover and cast Bakudō #61, Rikujōkō at Lille, drawing his attention and prompting him to target her.
  • Shunsui Kyōraku rushed in front of Nanao and took Lille’s piercing shot, which tore a bowl-sized hole through his waist and ribs.

Ch. 247The meaning of standing firm

Shunsui Kyōraku took a fatal wound while protecting Nanao Ise from Lille Barro, then recalled his promise to keep her safe. As Lille fired to finish them, Kyōraku released his Bankai.

  • Nanao Ise tried to heal Shunsui Kyōraku and blamed herself for his wound, but he reassured her that protecting his lieutenant was his duty.
  • Lille Barro mocked Kyōraku for sacrificing his advantage to protect Nanao and aimed his rifle at him.
  • Kyōraku pulled Nanao behind him as Lille prepared to shoot, determined to keep the promise he had made to his brother and sister-in-law to protect her.
  • Kyōraku dropped two curved blades into his hands, plunged them into the ground, and released his Bankai.

Ch. 248Stage play

Shunsui Kyōraku activated Katen Kyōkotsu: Karamatsu Shinju and trapped Lille Barro in a deadly play where they shared wounds and Lille developed a fatal illness. As the third and final acts drew near, Kyōraku warned Lille not to underestimate him.

  • Shunsui Kyōraku plunged his twin blades into the ground, shrouding Wahrwelt in darkness and creating a stage for his play.
  • Lille Barro fired at Kyōraku, but Act One caused an identical wound to appear on Lille’s body.
  • Shunsui Kyōraku explained that Act One made the two opponents share their wounds without dying from them during that stage.
  • Lille Barro prepared to shoot again, but Act Two covered his body in black spots that Shunsui said would drain his strength.
  • Black water rose around Shunsui Kyōraku and Lille Barro as the play’s third and final acts began to draw together.

Ch. 249Composure

Sōsuke Aizen and Sōya Azashiro walked through Wahrwelt as Aizen explained that the decisive clash would come at the summit. When Kyōraku’s ominous Reiatsu spread across the city, Aizen rushed toward it and Azashiro followed.

  • Sōya Azashiro escorted the restrained Sōsuke Aizen through Wahrwelt while Urozakuro complained that Azashiro was acting like a lackey.
  • Aizen told Azashiro that Yoriichi’s plan had a deeper purpose and that the true battle awaited at the doors atop Wahrwelt.
  • A cold, despairing Reiatsu swept across the city, and Azashiro recognized it as Kyōraku’s.

  • Azashiro followed Aizen across the ruins.

Ch. 250Vollständig: Divine Judgment

Shunsui Kyōraku defeated Lille Barro by using the final act of his Zanpakuto, but Lille transformed into Vollständig: Jiliel and renewed his attack. The chapter ended with Shunsui and Nanao Ise facing Lille’s overwhelming new form.

  • Shunsui Kyōraku and Lille Barro sank into a black pool created by Shunsui’s Takaoni, where Lille’s attempts to escape only weakened him.
  • Shunsui remembered his promises and used Itokiribasami: Blood-Stained Throat to sever Lille Barro’s head, ending the black pool.
  • Shunsui collapsed among the ruins as Nanao Ise rushed to him, believing the crisis was over.
  • Lille Barro’s headless body surged with Reiatsu and transformed into Vollständig: Jiliel, then threatened Shunsui and Nanao.

Ch. 251Desperate straits

  • Lille Barro burst out of the crater, spread his eight wings, and unleashed piercing light in every direction.

Ch. 253Aizen makes his move

Lille Barro’s rampage threatened the ruined hall as Sōya Azashiro’s Kidō was weakened by Wahrwelt’s dense Quincy Reishi. Aizen stepped forward to face Lille, who fired a massive beam at him.

  • Lille Barro raged and unleashed beams of light across the ruined hall while Nanao Ise shielded the injured Shunsui Kyōraku.

  • Sōsuke Aizen told Sōya Azashiro to tend to Shunsui Kyōraku and mocked Kyōraku’s condition before agreeing to handle Lille.
  • Aizen challenged Lille Barro, and Lille answered by firing a massive pillar of light straight at him.

Ch. 254Observation

  • As Lille’s vast torrent of light surged toward him, Aizen raised his sleeve and cast Bakudo #81, Dankū.

Ch. 255Aizen was killed

Lille Barro appeared to kill Sōsuke Aizen with a blast that pierced through Dankū, then turned his attention to the surviving Soul Reapers. Sōya Azashiro shielded Shunsui Kyōraku and Nanao Ise by making himself untargetable and counterattacking, but Lille Barro prepared to unleash another attack.

  • Lille Barro pierced Dankū and blasted a hole through Sōsuke Aizen’s chest, and Aizen fell motionless into the rubble.
  • Nanao Ise and Shunsui Kyōraku were shocked by Aizen’s apparent death as Lille Barro targeted them next.

  • Aizen, whom Lille Barro had believed dead, spoke from the ruins and challenged him to look around.

Ch. 257Kyōka Suigetsu

Sōsuke Aizen revealed that Lille Barro’s apparent victory and the destruction around them had been illusions created by Kyōka Suigetsu, causing Lille’s attacks to strike his own body. Aizen explained that his existence itself was now equivalent to Kyōka Suigetsu, and left Lille unable to tell when the hypnosis had begun.

  • Lille Barro realized the Soul Reapers and the ruined hall had been restored, while holes matching his sacred beams pierced his own body.
  • Sōsuke Aizen told Lille that he had made Lille unleash slaughter upon himself.
  • Nanao Ise questioned Shunsui Kyōraku, who suspected Aizen had controlled their senses upon their arrival at the Imperial Palace.
  • Sōya Azashiro recalled warning that Aizen’s allies should be more wary of him than his enemies.
  • Lille argued that Aizen could not have activated Kyōka Suigetsu without drawing his Zanpakuto, but Aizen said his existence had become equivalent to it.
  • Aizen asked Lille what made him think he had not been hypnotized while watching Aizen.

Ch. 258The end and another battlefield

Aizen killed Lille Barro by revealing that his apparent death had been an illusion, leaving Shunsui Kyōraku and Sōya Azashiro wary of his growing power.
