With tremendous force and unerring precision, Tetsu no Sosuke brought his Heavenly Crafting Hammer straight down on the Demon’s head.
Thud!
The sound was strangely hollow. The blow drove the Demon’s head straight into its chest.
Blood immediately sprayed from its shattered body.
The Demon froze where it stood, utterly unable to move.
Tetsu no Sosuke kept his eyes fixed on it as he steadied his breathing.
He still hadn't settled on a name for Form Two. The abrupt shift from Form One to Form Two, and the extreme change in his state, had also drained a great deal of his strength.
But now... was not the time to rest.
While the demon couldn't move, Tetsu no Sosuke looked around at once. He found no rope, but vines hung through a hole in the roof.
I wonder if these will hold...
He had his doubts, but he didn't hesitate.
He pulled a short knife from his belt. He had brought it to cut through thorns and weeds while traveling in the mountains.
It worked just as well on the vines.
He cut off a length and wound it tightly around the immobilized Demon from top to bottom. He knew nothing about clever knots; he simply bound it up like a dumpling. He had meant to leave its head exposed, but with its head hammered into its chest, it probably wouldn't be struggling free anytime soon. He let it be.
Once he was done, he dragged the Demon over and hung it at the temple entrance.
When the sun rose tomorrow morning, the demon would vanish with the dawn.
Only after all that did Tetsu no Sosuke feel his arms and legs go weak. He backed up two steps, sat down on the ground, and caught his breath.
