Tetsu no Sosuke turned to him with interest. "Let's hear it."
"A demon shows up, and you beat him to death!"
Yuichiro had kept it short and simple.
Tetsu no Sosuke stared at him for a long moment. Once he was sure the boy wasn't messing with him, he let out a long sigh. "I can't even argue with that."
Muichiro nearly burst out laughing. Yuichiro glared at him. "Was I wrong?"
"No, not at all." Muichiro hurriedly shook his head.
"Forget it. Let's go to sleep." Tetsu no Sosuke had somehow lost all enthusiasm.
After what Yuichiro had said, Muichiro wouldn't dare offer a different answer even if he had one.
Tetsu no Sosuke slept until midnight, when a faint noise woke him. Whoever made it hadn't been loud, but the slightest sound was enough to rouse him from a deep sleep.
He glanced over and saw Muichiro quietly getting up, then walking step by step toward the spot where the demon had died.
