His plan had sounded good in his head, but when he went there the next day, he realized he had overthought it.

It was nothing so complicated, and there was no collusion between humans and demons.

The truth was simple: the guy was an idiot.

"He really is mentally impaired?"

Tetsu no Sosuke watched the young man crouched at the end of the wall, counting ants, and his mouth twitched.

How old was he, to still be counting ants?

He thought it over and decided to give him another chance. Counting ants didn't necessarily mean he was impaired. Maybe he was just bored.

So Tetsu no Sosuke crouched beside him and watched along with him.

After a dozen seconds, the young man showed no sign of getting up. He looked so focused that anyone would think he was doing something terribly important.

Tetsu no Sosuke couldn't help asking, "What are you looking at?"

"Shh!"

The young man immediately raised a finger, telling Tetsu no Sosuke to keep his voice down.

Tetsu no Sosuke fell silent and watched coolly. Another half hour passed before the young man dropped onto his backside. "My legs hurt."

Anyone's legs would hurt after crouching for half an hour.

Tetsu no Sosuke stood and stretched his legs. "What are you looking at?"

"Little Black moving house," the young man replied.

"Who's Little Black?"

"An ant I raised." The young man looked up at Tetsu no Sosuke and smiled faintly. "Little Black Number One, Little Black Number Two, Little Black Number Three, Little Black Number Four, Little Black Number Five, Little Black..."

Tetsu no Sosuke didn't
