Three days later, someone came to visit while Tetsu no Sosuke was sleeping.
When he opened the door, a neatly dressed man stood outside.
Tetsu no Sosuke had thought he would never have dealings with this man again. He was the man Tetsu no Sosuke had met while investigating that mansion.
He was presumably a government official, though Tetsu no Sosuke had never asked what position he held.
After inviting the man inside, Tetsu no Sosuke felt rather grateful that he kept his daily life orderly and had not left the room so cluttered that there was nowhere to step.
Of course, space at the Inn was limited, and there was no suitable place to sit down for a proper chat.
His visitor had no intention of staying long anyway. He simply took out an envelope.
"I was on my way to work when I remembered you were staying here, so I took the liberty of dropping by."
The man held the envelope out to Tetsu no Sosuke, who took it instinctively, then heard him say, "This contains something you missed when you were looking through the records that day. I thought it might be useful to you, so I brought it over. I hope it can help you with your current predicament."
