Tetsu no Sosuke had someone take the injured man away for treatment, then frowned. "Are there wolves around Fujikasane Mountain?"
The Hidden members beside him exchanged glances, then shook their heads.
"Forget wolves. There isn't even a dog around Fujikasane Mountain."
Tetsu no Sosuke raised an eyebrow. If there were no wild animals nearby, where had that wolf come from?
Too bad he hadn't brought Big Hammer. If he had, they might have caught the wolf and coaxed some information out of it.
Realizing how ridiculous that thought was, Tetsu no Sosuke rubbed his face. He was about to speak when his brow furrowed again.
"Do you feel that?"
The Hidden members beside him had been stationed nearby. At his sudden question, they looked at one another, utterly confused.
Feel what?
What was there to feel?
They paid closer attention. Something did seem strange, but none of them could say what it was.
"The feeling of a predator watching you." Tetsu no Sosuke took the Sunflare Hammer from his back. "Everyone, be careful."
Few members of the Hidden could truly fight. It wasn't that they lacked the necessary skills; otherwise, they could never have joined the Hidden.
What they lacked was the courage to fight.
So Tetsu no Sosuke had no intention of relying on them in battle. He told them to stay close and watch out for one another. A moment later, he vanished.
The Hidden members watched Tetsu no Sosuke disappear. Then a wail rang out. A gray wolf shot into the air as if struck by a tremendous force and fell to the ground, blood pouring from its mouth and nose. It was clearly dying.
And that was only the beginning.
One wolf after another flew into the air, then landed on the ground covered in blood.
