In a completely overlooked corner, blood energy rose into the air before finally dissipating.
Tetsu no Sosuke noticed it and hurried over to investigate. Sure enough, he found a snake curled on the ground. It wasn't dead, but it had fallen unconscious.
"He must have used his blood energy to control these beasts beforehand, making them do things other demons couldn't. And at critical moments, he could draw that blood energy back out of the animals, taking their own blood and vitality with it."
Tetsu no Sosuke glanced back at the corpse, which was gradually dissolving into nothing. "But why animals? Why not people?"
Demons grew stronger by eating humans, but perhaps this one could strengthen himself by consuming that blood and vitality instead?
"Or is there some crucial detail I haven't figured out?"
Tetsu no Sosuke pondered it briefly, then gave up. Since the demon was already dead, there was no point dwelling on it.
