Hundreds of hammer blows burst across the air like dazzling fireworks.
The winged demon shrieked as it was smashed straight to the ground.
Still unwilling to give up, it raised its head from where it lay—and saw that Tetsu no Sosuke had sealed his ears shut. They pressed tightly over his ear canals, letting in not a trace of sound.

Even as a demon, it was baffled for a long moment.
It had never seen anything like this!
Tetsu no Sosuke had no intention of explaining that he had long since memorized every move he knew the demons could use and worked out how to counter them.
As his control over his body had grown stronger, covering his ears like this had become easy enough with deliberate practice.
He was still in midair when the demon wielding the Sceptre leaped up and thrust it at him!
Tetsu no Sosuke drew a sharp breath. As he exhaled, he swept his Hammer across and shifted position in midair in an instant.
The Hammer Sheath slipped from the blade with a click. Tetsu no Sosuke raised both hands high, then brought the blade down. The Sceptre-wielding demon's head flew from its shoulders.
Only then did Tetsu no Sosuke close his eyes again.
A fierce wind swept toward him. The demon wielding the War Fan had come at him once more.
Two humanoid figures were growing at a furious pace. They had sprung from the Sceptre Demon he had just beheaded.
They were splitting into new demons.
Meanwhile, the demon with black wings that he had smashed to the ground was struggling to its feet. It opened its mouth toward him...
Then... where was the main body?
Now that it had split apart, Hantengu's true body would surely use the confusion to flee.
