Tetsu no Sosuke thought it over, then shook his head.
The "shadow Zenitsu Agatsuma" before him was right. He could help Zenitsu once, twice, three times, but he could not help him for the rest of his life.
Whether Zenitsu could do it did not matter. Whether Tetsu no Sosuke could do it did not matter either.
What mattered was that if he failed, Zenitsu would change one day.
And whether that change was for better or worse depended entirely on today.
So whether he could do it was a question for later. Right now, there was only one thing to do... do it!
He stood and said to the figure across from him, "Wait for me."
Tetsu no Sosuke crossed the threshold and went deeper, passing through one doorway after another.
The space was deep and dark. As Tetsu no Sosuke stepped inside, he felt as though he had entered an ice cellar.
The darkness was colder than he had imagined.
The farther Tetsu no Sosuke went, the colder it grew.
Every doorway was like an impassable chasm. Tetsu no Sosuke felt as though even his soul might freeze, but he did not stop.
There were times when a person had to do what needed doing. When that moment came, there was no point hesitating. He just had to act.
Only by crossing over could he see the brilliant sun.
If he stopped where he stood, he would know nothing but bone-deep cold.
At some point, Tetsu no Sosuke's mind had grown utterly still. A single thought remained, and he shut everything else out of his soul.
