Tetsu no Sosuke folded his arms and watched quietly.
At least Zenitsu Agatsuma had stopped trembling.
He had no idea how much time had passed, or what had come over him, but he suddenly stood up.
He still couldn't muster the courage to turn around.
Despair crept over him. Was this really all I could do?
Give in to fear and make himself so helpless he would be eaten?
Was that what I wanted?
He thought of his grandfather, who had placed such high hopes in him, and of his own training day after day. Even though he had no talent, his grandfather had never given up on him.
Then why was I trembling here, waiting for fate to pass judgment?

He looked at Tetsu no Sosuke and opened his mouth, but he didn't know what to say.
Hopeless!
The cold depths of loneliness, the roar of thunder, his fragile heart...
Yet even that heart held a defiance of its own.
He refused to fall this far!
Then what should I do?
"The path is beneath your feet. How you walk it is up to you."
Tetsu no Sosuke's voice reached him again. Then he heard the terrifying man say, "I'll wait for you outside."
Tetsu no Sosuke did not stay to watch him take that step. He wasn't sure Zenitsu could take it at all.
Confidence was better found and held firm within oneself than received from someone else.
On the tatami, Zenitsu Agatsuma still sat with his eyes shut tight. Even Tetsu no Sosuke's arrival drew little attention from him.
He merely said softly, "You should leave. That bridge is starting to sway."
If Tetsu no Sosuke stayed any longer, another person might join the struggle for this body.
