The wind howled past his ears.
His body seemed about to float off the ground.
This was the closest Lan Muxing had ever come to "flying" in his life.
Mom.
I want to go home.
Give me a chance.
If I could choose again...
I would absolutely never take part in this fucking variety show again.
How was this a dating show!?
There wasn't the slightest romantic atmosphere!
This damned glass walkway had genuinely scared the hell out of him!
But he hadn't even had a chance to recover before those three idiots up ahead suddenly started running!
What were they running for!?
His legs were still weak!!!
Lan Muxing was practically dragged by Yan Cheng all the way to the other end of the walkway.
Chu Zhu, behind them, reacted a little faster.
Although he wasn't quite as bedraggled as Lan Muxing, as an Omega, he couldn't physically keep up with the Alphas running ahead.
So by the time they reached the other end of the walkway, Chu Zhu was also panting with exhaustion, sitting on the ground with his legs weak, on the verge of falling apart.
By contrast, He Gui, who stood at the very back, had much more time to react thanks to the two burdens ahead of him.
So although his breathing was somewhat uneven too, he had at least run across normally with the others.
They reached the end.
He Gui breathed a sigh of relief.
He had been planning to ask how this had suddenly turned into a running event.
But before he could speak, Chu Zhu beside him had already started screaming like a madman. He said, "Bai Luochuan, what the hell is wrong with you!? That path was already scary enough! Why did you have to run! What if something dangerous had happened!?"
Bai Luochuan blinked and looked back calmly. "Something dangerous? Were you afraid the walkway would break?"
Chu Zhu choked on the question.
When arranging activities, the production team would definitely put the guests' safety first.
They would certainly have finished inspecting the walkway before letting them take part in the activity.
Making a fuss about that now...
Would shift the blame straight from Bai Luochuan to the production team.
Chu Zhu thought quickly.
Then he immediately changed his tune.
He said, "I'm talking about you suddenly starting to run! Those of us behind you weren't ready, and our legs were already weak with fear! What if we weren't ready and fell when you suddenly did that!?"
That was indeed a problem.
After all, Lan Muxing had already fallen.
He sat on the ground with tears in his eyes.
Deeply aggrieved.
But saying nothing.
It seemed as though all the blame in the world had landed on Bai Luochuan.
Qi Yu frowned.
Bai Luochuan, however, frowned, glanced at the climbing rope on the ground, and asked mildly, "Oh, shouldn't you ask Yan Cheng about being dragged over? Are you shouting at me to prove how loud you are?"
Chu Zhu's expression suddenly froze.
Lan Muxing, who had been sitting on the ground staring accusingly at Bai Luochuan, also calmed down and shifted his gaze to the climbing rope.
Once Qi Yu had untied the rope, they had been completely disconnected from the people behind them.
Yan Cheng could have chosen not to follow.
There had been absolutely no need for him to follow, either.
But not only had he not stopped, he hadn't stopped even when he felt the tugging from behind.
And he had run very hard.
As though terrified of losing to Qi Yu.
The cameras had captured it all perfectly clearly.
Things turned awkward again.
[Folks, I've been screen-recording the whole time. I just went back and checked, and Bai Luochuan wasn't wrong. Qi Yu untied the rope before he started running, didn't he? And Yan Cheng stared at what he was doing for a few seconds before running after him!]
[So that means... the ones dragging the three people behind them weren't Bai Luochuan and Qi Yu. It was all Yan Cheng!]
[Oh my god, Cheng! A man among men! An Alpha among Alphas! Look at how he sent Lan Muxing flying! Such powerful arms!]
[That compliment sounds worse than an insult.]
[So what was Yan Cheng in such a hurry for?]
[He looked like he was afraid Bai Luochuan would take Qi Yu away alone. He tried so hard to catch up...]
All the blame immediately shifted to Yan Cheng.
Yan Cheng, who had been soothing Lan Muxing and massaging his calves, stopped moving.
After a long silence.
Yan Cheng chose to apologize.
He lowered his head to everyone.
His tone was earnest and full of remorse as he said, "I'm sorry, everyone. That really was my oversight. When I saw the people ahead start running, I instinctively ran along with them. I failed to consider the people behind me. It was entirely my responsibility."
That was very skillfully worded.
It sounded as though he was taking all the responsibility upon himself.
But on closer consideration.
He was clearly blaming whoever had started running first.
Qi Yu sneered.
Bai Luochuan merely waved a hand. "Sure, sure, sure, it's all my fault. I ran too fast just now and dragged all five of you along from a distance, single-handedly. Mostly, I just never expected to be this strong as a Beta."
"I apologize to all of you on behalf of my Kirin Arm."
"Sorry about that. I've been single in real life so long that I can only have virtual boyfriends. Before I knew it, I'd developed this kind of arm strength. I'm pretty embarrassed myself."
Yan Cheng: ...
Who the fuck are you calling weak!?
His anger surged up.
Fortunately, Lan Muxing beside him knew how to read the room.
He bravely pushed himself to his feet, shook his head, and even tidied his hair in passing. Comforting Yan Cheng, he said, "It's all right, Yan Cheng. You actually did us a huge favor! If you hadn't run across, who knows how long it would have taken us to get over that walkway!"
Chu Zhu was stunned. "You can praise even that?"
Lan Muxing's eyes were red.
He raised a hand and wiped away nonexistent tears.
When he looked up again, his smile had regained its usual gentleness and radiance. He said, "Yes. After all, I really don't want to be the one holding everyone back, but I was just too scared earlier. Luckily, it's all over now. I'm fine. Shall we keep going?"
Lan Muxing had been dragged around the worst out of all of them.
Now that even he had said that, the others could hardly say much more.
Yan Cheng, on the other hand.
Seemed to remember only then that he had a gentle-boyfriend persona to maintain.
He had the doctor accompanying the production team come over and thoroughly examine Lan Muxing. Only after confirming that there really was nothing wrong with him and that he had simply had a bit of a fright did he indicate that they could continue onward with the group and that normal filming could resume.
The group walked a little farther.
There was a fairly small waterfall and a rather wide river.
A bridge spanned the river.
But the production team had blocked both ends with barricades.
"Next, we need to cross this river," the host explained with a smile. "But if you want to use the bridge, you'll have to pass the production team's challenge. The challenge is..."
Before the host could finish.
Lan Muxing was already pointing ahead with an embarrassed expression.
The moment he heard the host mention crossing the river, Bai Luochuan had taken off his shoes, pulled up his trouser legs, and quickly waded into the water.
Qi Yu followed behind him.
He had just finished taking off his shoes.
As he rolled up his trouser legs, he replied with a smile, "Whether we swim across or wade across, neither should be illegal, right?"
