Snow and ice blanketed the land, and bitter winds howled.
In a snow-covered gorge stood a simple altar made of ice and snow. Three enormous spires of ice surrounded it, giving it an eerie appearance.
Cries rang out from atop the frozen altar.
It was a human baby boy, wrapped in an animal hide, with blood still unwiped from his face. Clearly, he had only just been born.
At that moment, his entire body had turned purple from the cold. His life hung by a thread, and he was on the verge of dying.
"Huh? How did I turn into a baby? Fuck, it's freezing."
The baby suddenly stopped crying and began babbling to himself, seemingly trying to speak.
He looked around curiously and discovered that he was somewhere bitterly cold, like the North or South Pole.
And a short distance to the north stood countless dark figures. They remained utterly motionless, like a disciplined army.
"What the hell is this place?"
The baby let out strange cries of "Ah, ya, ya," seemingly furious.
His name was Gary, male, twenty-six years old.
He worked at a tobacco factory for a certain brand. Several hours earlier, a gossipy coworker had told him that the woman he had secretly admired for six months was actually the workshop supervisor's mistress-and she had been the one to make the first move.
Feeling miserable, Gary had bought a few cans of beer and gone to the seaside alone to clear his head.
By chance, he had picked up a strange stone glowing green on the beach. It was crystal clear and cold to the touch, like one of those legendary luminous pearls. He had been planning to take it to a jewelry store for appraisal, but then...
The stone had suddenly erupted with a dazzling light. When he woke up again, he was already here.
Did I transmigrate? Yeah, I probably did.
But why did the protagonists in novels get systems, beautiful women, and divine weapons when they transmigrated to another world, while all I got was a smelly animal-hide swaddle?
While Gary's thoughts ran wild, a strange figure slowly approached from in front of the army nearby.
The howling wind drowned out his footsteps. Gary only noticed him once he was right in front of him.
The figure's entire face resembled dead wood, covered in countless wrinkles and utterly terrifying. His deathly pale skin, eyes glowing an eerie blue, and unusually tall frame all made it clear that he was not human, but some kind of humanoid creature.
"Holy shit, what kind of monster is this? Why is he so ugly?" Gary could not help crying out. Unfortunately, no one could understand him.
The baby's eyes widened, clearly badly frightened.
The strange figure wore a neat suit of ice armor. His bald head had no hair, only a ring of pointed, icicle-like horns that looked like a crown.
That look... huh, why does it seem so familiar?
Gary searched his memory for a while. Suddenly, he seemed to realize something, and his eyes filled with horror.
Isn't this guy the Night's King from Game of Thrones?
The American television series Game of Thrones depicted a world where swords and magic intertwined, and dragons coexisted with humans. And this Night's King was the final boss of the entire series.
Does that mean I've transmigrated into the world of Game of Thrones?
A flicker of excitement ran through Gary. He cried out happily a few times, unable to keep the show's three dragons from coming to mind.
I wonder how far along the story is now. Can I still beat Daenerys, the Mother of Dragons, to those three Dragon Eggs?
The Night's King reached the altar. He bent down and picked up the bewildered Gary, his withered right hand slowly stroking Gary's cheek.
A cold magical power swiftly invaded Gary's tiny body through the Night's King's fingertips.
Gary snapped out of his thoughts. Having watched the first six seasons of Game of Thrones, he naturally knew what the Night's King was doing.
White Walkers were magical creatures and had no ability to reproduce themselves.
Thus, new White Walkers could only be born when the Night's King transformed newborn human babies through magic.
It followed that the Night's King was transforming Gary into a new member of his people...
Gary wanted to cry but had no tears. He struggled constantly, yet could not budge the Night's King's arms at all.
It's bad enough that I didn't get a cheat, but now I don't even get to stay human? No! White Walkers are way too ugly...
Life truly was full of dramatic ups and downs. Gary, who had been so excited moments earlier, was now crying out in despair. His eyes gradually turned deep blue, and his transformation was about to begin.
Suddenly, the Night's King furrowed his brow, an unusual light flickering in his eyes.
The baby in his arms seemed to have become a bottomless pit, frantically drawing in his mana through the "mana channel" he had established himself...
The Night's King stared at the child in his arms, his gaze growing increasingly dark. Over these thousands of years, he had transformed tens of thousands of human babies!
Usually, just a wisp of his mana was enough to complete the ritual of turning a human into a White Walker.
But this child... had almost drained him dry.
The severe depletion of his mana made the Night's King wary despite himself. He halted the transformation and moved his hand to Gary's neck.
A trace of killing intent flashed through his eyes. He wanted to dispose of this strange baby.
Gary noticed it too, but he was only a helpless baby now, utterly incapable of resisting the tall, powerful Night's King.
The Night's King tightened his grip slightly, clamping his hand around Gary's neck. The force nearly made Gary pass out, leaving him unable to breathe.
It's over, it's over. I'm done for this time!
Just as Gary sank into utter despair, his left eye suddenly turned dark green, and a bead glowing green floated out of it.
The Green Pearl hovered between the two of them, shimmering brilliantly as starlight swirled across it.
Ding.
With a soft chime, a membrane of light spilled from the Green Pearl, swiftly enveloping Gary. At the same time, it released an invisible wave of energy that blasted the stunned Night's King away.
Specks of green light surrounded Gary, radiating warmth and restoring a rosy flush to his face, which had been blue from the cold.
Gary stared at the green bead hovering in front of him, his eyes brimming with tears. "My cheat, you're finally online... huh? Wait, isn't this the damned stone that sent me here?"
The green light did more than warm Gary's body. It even converted the "White Walker energy" inside him into energy a human could absorb, pulling him back from the brink of becoming a White Walker.
All the White Walker traits on his body disappeared, and he became human again.
This energy not only repaired Gary's body, which had been ravaged by ice and snow, but also continued to reshape his flesh, making him stronger.
A short distance away, the Night's King scrambled up from the ground, his face filled with disbelief.
The Night's King was the world's first White Walker, as well as the progenitor of all White Walkers. For thousands of years, he had concealed his strength and bided his time, and his mastery of magic could be called unfathomable.
Across all of Westeros, he stood at the pinnacle of combat power! He was the strongest!
He had thought that, with the dragons and the Children of the Forest extinct, the White Walkers had no rivals left in the world. He only needed to wait for humans to plunge into civil war again. Then, after eliminating the Three-Eyed Crow, he could break through the Wall and turn all of Westeros into a kingdom of the dead...
Yet today, he had seen an insurmountable mountain. It was a mysterious power that transcended magic... no, that stood above both magic and sorcery!
Even he, the king of the White Walkers, could not help feeling the urge to prostrate himself before it in worship.
It was like divine power... no, it was the power of a god!
