Ch. 141Refusal

Redd rejected the Prince of Dorne’s attempt to recruit him and invite him to Dorne after the war against the White Walkers. The prince left without an alliance, while Redd remained confident in his own plans and valued Ellard’s loyalty.

  • Ellard urged Redd to build his domain by making more friends and supporters, but Redd said his dragons meant others would seek his favor.
  • The Prince of Dorne approached Redd and invited him to visit Dorne after the war against the White Walkers.
  • Redd questioned whether he would be allowed to leave Dorne and refused to visit, asking the prince to state his purpose directly.
  • The Prince of Dorne suggested that Redd’s three dragons deserved broader lands, hinting at an alliance, and Ellard warned him to watch his words.
  • Redd refused the prince’s offer, and the Prince of Dorne finished his wine and left.
  • Redd watched the prince depart and looked at Ellard, appreciating his loyal friend and adviser.

Ch. 142Agreement

Vaeserys agreed to Redd’s terms in exchange for Redd’s betrothal to Rhaenyra, binding the two through a political marriage alliance. After Vaeserys left them alone, Rhaenyra showed her anger and defiance, while Redd challenged her to say whom she thought she could resist.

  • Ellard warned Redd to consider the threat of the White Walkers, but Redd told him to stay out of his business.
  • Vaeserys agreed to give Redd Dragonstone on the condition that he become betrothed to Rhaenyra, and Redd accepted.
  • Vaeserys and Redd shook hands on their alliance, then Vaeserys urged Redd and Rhaenyra to get to know each other.
  • Redd ordered Rhaenyra to pour him wine, and she complied while hiding her displeasure from Vaeserys.
  • After Vaeserys left, Rhaenyra dropped the pretense and told Redd she would not resign herself completely; Redd mocked her defiance.

Ch. 143Leaving

Rhaenyra rejected Redd’s contemptuous demands and left the banquet hall, determined to shape her own future despite the political marriage arranged for her. Viserys sent Rhaenys after her, while Redd rebuffed nobles seeking Dragon Eggs and departed with the banquet’s food for his dragons.

  • Rhaenyra refused to obey Redd’s orders, declared she would choose how to live, and left the banquet hall in anger.
  • Viserys asked Rhaenys to follow Rhaenyra and talk to her, while Daemon challenged Viserys for allowing the marriage bargain to proceed.
  • Viserys and Daemon discussed Redd’s unwillingness to change and hoped Rhaenys could help Rhaenyra accept the situation.
  • Nobles approached Redd to probe whether he would sell Dragon Eggs, but he rejected their offers and slapped away those who pushed him.
  • Redd left the banquet hall carrying roast meat and lamb for his three dragons, with most of the food stored in his system space.

Ch. 144Entering a dream

After Redd’s blunt exit from the banquet, Viserys tried to placate the offended nobles while Redd ignored the political fallout and returned to rest. Redd was pulled into a mysterious underwater dream, where a gigantic octopus seized him.

  • Redd left the banquet, and Viserys reassured the displeased nobles and urged them to continue.
  • Redd watched his three dragons eat, reflected briefly on the dragons of Valyria, and returned to his room to sleep.
  • King Ghidorah sulked in the courtyard because his enormous size kept him from sleeping inside with Redd.
  • Redd felt himself pulled into a strange underwater space and recognized it as an illusory dream.
  • A gigantic gray octopus emerged from the coral and wrapped its tentacle around Redd.

Ch. 145Octopus

Redd met the Drowned God, who had captured him with a giant octopus and claimed to rule the seas, darkness, and death. The Drowned God revealed that he wanted the Death Authority inside Redd, while Redd pretended not to know it was there and asked what it could do.

  • A giant octopus lifted Redd before a short old man standing on its head.
  • The old man introduced himself as the Drowned God and claimed authority over the seas, darkness, and death.
  • Redd challenged the Drowned God's claim over darkness and death by asking whether the Cold God knew about it.
  • The Drowned God dropped his grand manner, admitted he had lost something, and asked Redd to return it.
  • The Drowned God said the missing item was a bit of Death Authority that he sensed inside Redd.
  • Redd feigned ignorance and asked the Drowned God what the Death Authority was good for.

Ch. 146Talks broke down

Redd refused to trade his divine authority to the Drowned God, then fought back with golden lightning and King Ghidorah’s help. As King Ghidorah battled the giant gray octopus, Redd dodged a surprise harpoon and spotted a shadow approaching from the depths.

  • The Drowned God offered Redd something useful in exchange for his divine authority, but Redd rejected the offer and demanded to be released.
  • The Drowned God tightened his tentacles around Redd, who broke free with golden lightning.
  • Redd summoned King Ghidorah, whose Gravity Beams wounded the Drowned God’s giant gray octopus form.
  • The Drowned God attacked Redd with a harpoon from the blood-red water, but Redd dodged it.
  • Redd searched the sea for the Drowned God and noticed a shadow rushing toward him from the depths.

Ch. 147Battle

Redd fought the Drowned God in the sea, eventually defeating him with his Ice Sword and Ice Spear. When the Drowned God revived and stabbed Redd, Redd blasted him into nothing with golden lightning.

  • The Drowned God ambushed Redd, but Redd blocked his attacks and cut off half his ear with an Ice Spear.
  • The Drowned God vanished and stirred the seabed into a violent whirlpool, battering Redd and attacking him from hiding.
  • Redd used his electric current to form a gravitational field and calm the seawater enough to spot the Drowned God.
  • Redd pressed his attack until the Ice Spear pierced the Drowned God's chest and he collapsed.
  • Redd realized the fight had not ended, but the revived Drowned God stabbed his abdomen with a harpoon.
  • Redd restrained the Drowned God and fired golden lightning from his mouth, blasting him into nothing.

Ch. 148Lingering Fear

After defeating the Drowned God in an illusory space, Redd woke in bed with injuries that quickly healed, while the Drowned God revived in his palace and began preparing to retaliate. Redd considered his unexplained Death Authority and whether to endure the pain of practicing King Ghidorah’s Gravity Beam.

  • Redd awoke in bed with a bleeding abdominal wound and a burned throat, but his regenerative ability healed both injuries within minutes.
  • Redd calmed a panicked King Ghidorah through their mental link and realized he would have trouble sleeping.
  • The Drowned God reformed in his palace, threw the mermaids outside, and vowed to defeat Redd before he could wield the power of authority.
  • The Drowned God sensed a powerful force approaching and prepared to confront his old adversary.
  • Redd recalled that the Greenseer had suggested the Drowned God was not truly dead and questioned whether he possessed Death Authority from the Red God.
  • Redd considered practicing King Ghidorah’s powerful Gravity Beam more often despite the severe pain it caused his throat.

Ch. 149Forging

Redd decided to avoid abilities that inflicted severe pain and began seeking combat skills he could master safely. He commissioned specially made arrows and iron balls from a smith at Castle Black, leaving with the finished items before dawn.

  • Redd abandoned the idea of using King Ghidorah's self-harming abilities and chose ice magic, Storm Control, and Electricity Manipulation to study.
  • Redd inspected Castle Black's large supply of dragonglass weapons and recognized how they could help the soldiers fight White Walkers.
  • Redd asked the smith Dawg to forge spiral-grooved arrows with flat, pointed heads and perfectly round iron balls, then paid him in gold.
  • Dawg finished the requested items before dawn, and Redd paid him again before leaving with the arrows and iron balls.

Ch. 150Development

Redd experimented with several ranged attacks, finding that only his Wind Arrow showed promise because his abilities lacked the power to reproduce the others’ techniques. When a massive ice dragon appeared with the regrouped wight army, Redd headed to the Wall with his three dragons, where Viserys and Ellard were preparing for battle.

  • Dawg happily counted the gold coins Redd had paid him for the arrows.
  • Redd used storm control to launch an arrow through a courtyard wall and began practicing a focused Wind Arrow, but struggled to keep it under control.
  • Redd tried launching an iron ball with electricity and shooting an ice arrow, but both attacks proved weak because his abilities were insufficient.
  • The wight army regrouped beyond the Wall as an enormous ice dragon circled overhead, filling those on the Wall with dread.
  • Redd decided to go to the Wall for a chance to gain energy points and flew there with his three dragons.
  • Redd arrived to find Viserys, Ellard, and the others prepared for the coming battle.

Ch. 151Decisiveness

Facing the vast army of wights and its Ice Dragon, Viserys and the others received a message ordering Redd to negotiate with the Cold God. When a man urged them to try, Redd killed Duke Terrence in a sudden sword clash.

  • Viserys despaired at the overwhelming wight army and the Ice Dragon looming beyond the Wall.
  • Ellard and Viserys read a message demanding that Redd go negotiate with the Cold God, and Redd burned it.
  • A man in the crowd argued that negotiation was worth trying, and Redd demanded that he identify himself.
  • Duke Terrence stepped forward and challenged Redd after Redd threatened to kill him.
  • Redd ignored Viserys's attempt to intervene, broke Duke Terrence's sword, and inflicted a fatal wound to his chest.

Ch. 152Establishing authority

Redd killed Duke Terrence and burned his body after the duke challenged him, forcing Viserys to abandon any attempt to punish him and assign defenses at the Wall. Beyond the Wall, the Night's King ordered the wights to attack, opening a path toward the terrified Wildlings.

  • Redd poured oil on Duke Terrence and burned him after killing him, then challenged the assembled nobles to speak against him.
  • Rhaenyra vomited at the sight, while Rhaenys questioned whether Redd was still the man she had known.
  • Viserys chose not to hold Redd accountable and assigned the defenders their sections of the Wall, with dragonriders tasked to fight the ice dragons.
  • Ellard confronted Redd over Duke Terrence's death, but Redd blamed the dead man and warned Ellard to watch his words.
  • The Cold God grew impatient at receiving no response, and the Night's King ordered the wights to attack.
  • The wights parted in formation, revealing more than a hundred thousand frightened Wildlings ahead.

Ch. 153Ice Dragon

The Night's King forced the Wildlings to attack the Wall, where Redd watched the siege and tried to discern his enemy's plan. The Ice Dragon then attacked with its icy breath, freezing Wildlings and soldiers while Redd dodged out of its path.

  • The Night's King bound the Wildlings into formations with iron chains and drove them toward the Wall as wights killed stragglers and raised them again as undead.
  • The Night's Watch and soldiers fired on the attacking Wildlings as they assaulted the gates and tunnels, and Giants smashed open some of the heavy gates.
  • Redd watched the slaughter from above and wondered why the Night's King was attacking instead of waiting for the defenders to run out of food.
  • The Ice Dragon swooped toward the Wall and blasted the Wildlings and soldiers with icy breath, freezing many of them in place.
  • Redd spotted the Ice Dragon's dive and swiftly dodged sideways to keep clear of it.

Ch. 154Dragon War

The wights broke through the Wall, and Viserys, Daemon, and Rhaenyra rode out to confront the Ice Dragon despite Redd’s warning about a creature that could kill dragons. Redd stayed behind to fight the wights with dragonglass arrows as the three dragons struggled against the Ice Dragon and its aerial allies.

  • The wights pulled on frozen chains until a wide section of the Wall collapsed, then surged through as the Ice Dragon extinguished the defenders’ burning oil.
  • Redd warned Viserys, Daemon, and Rhaenyra that something among the wights could kill a dragon with one strike, but Daemon ignored him and flew toward the Ice Dragon on Caraxes.
  • Viserys and Rhaenyra followed Daemon on their dragons while Redd remained behind to assess the Cold God’s position.
  • Redd picked up a fallen soldier’s dragonglass bow and arrows and began shooting wights, bringing down Giant Eagles and Griffins with accurate shots.
  • The Ice Dragon fought the three dragons with freezing breath while Giant Eagles and Griffins threatened them with surprise attacks.

Ch. 155Coercion

Redd tried to protect the dragons battling overhead, but the Cold God and the Night's King struck Syrax with an Ice Spear, sending her crashing toward the ground. When Rhaenys demanded that Redd go help Rhaenyra, he refused, and Rhaenys's guards surrounded him.

  • Redd fired an arrow that shattered the first Ice Spear, but the second pierced Syrax's wing.
  • The Ice Dragon struck Syrax and sent her plummeting as Viserys and Daemon cried out for Rhaenyra.
  • Rhaenys demanded that Redd help Rhaenyra, but he dismissed the danger and refused to go.
  • Rhaenys drew her sword and asked what it would take to make Redd go, while her guards surrounded him.

Ch. 156Help

Redd gained the upper hand when his three dragons landed on the Wall, but he agreed to help rescue the people in danger in exchange for Ellard’s rune-marked dragonglass. As King Ghidorah and Aegon flew to the rescue, Syrax was surrounded by wights with the unconscious Rhaenyra still on her back.

  • The three dragons landed on the Wall and protected Redd, forcing Rhaenys to sheathe her sword and withdraw her guards.
  • The Commander-in-Chief and Ellard arrived and urged both sides to stand down.
  • Ellard offered Redd a rune-marked piece of dragonglass said to be connected to the Night's King, and Redd agreed to help with the rescue.
  • Redd sent King Ghidorah and Aegon to support the rescue while Ehm stayed behind to defend the Wall.
  • Syrax crashed into the snow among the wights, leaving Rhaenyra unconscious and the injured dragon surrounded.

Ch. 157Surprise

Syrax and Rhaenyra were being evacuated as Daemon and Viserys tried to hold back the Ice Dragon. After a barrage of Ice Spears wounded King Ghidorah, it unleashed a storm while protecting Aegon, astonishing the Cold God.

  • Aegon struggled to lift the wounded Syrax while Daemon sent Caraxes to help, drawing the Ice Dragon after them.
  • Viserys ordered Silverwing to join Caraxes and defend Aegon and Syrax from the Ice Dragon.
  • King Ghidorah shattered an Ice Spear aimed at Aegon with lightning, then took the brunt of a barrage that drove one spear into its belly and sent it crashing down.
  • King Ghidorah pulled out the spear and unleashed hurricanes and lightning against the wights while holding back its rage to protect Aegon.
  • The storm and lightning shielded Aegon without disrupting his flight, and the Cold God watched in shock.

Ch. 158Rescue

The Cold God attacked King Ghidorah with powerful ice magic, but its regeneration and agility kept it alive. After the Cold God's arrow froze a vast area of the Wall, Redd fired back toward the god's estimated position, striking only a White Walker.

  • The Cold God shot King Ghidorah with a Profound Ice Arrow, punching a hole through its abdomen, but the dragon quickly regenerated and took flight.
  • The Cold God fired another ice arrow, but King Ghidorah dodged it, and the arrow struck the Wall.
  • The impact formed an enormous ice flower that froze soldiers and Wights within a thousand-meter radius, while the attack shattered the Cold God's right palm.
  • Redd deduced the Cold God's approximate position and launched an iron arrow wrapped in compressed airflow, but it hit a White Walker beside the god instead.

Ch. 159Wind Arrow

The Night's King killed Caraxes with an Ice Spear and the Ice Dragon's follow-up attack, while Silverwing rescued Daemon before he was frozen and injured by the Ice Dragon. Viserys retreated toward the Wall, where King Ghidorah and Aegon intercepted the Ice Dragon, but it charged into Aegon and cut off his dragonfire.

  • The Night's King hurled an Ice Spear through Caraxes's neck, and the Ice Dragon tore open Caraxes's belly, killing it.
  • Viserys guided Silverwing to rescue Daemon from Caraxes's fall, but the Ice Dragon's freezing breath and ice crystals left Daemon unconscious and badly injured.
  • Viserys retreated toward the Wall with Silverwing, drawing the pursuing Ice Dragon after them.
  • Redd ordered King Ghidorah and Aegon to intercept the Ice Dragon before it could reach the Wall.
  • King Ghidorah and Aegon attacked the Ice Dragon with lightning and dragonfire, stopping it two hundred meters from the Wall.
  • The Ice Dragon charged through the dragonfire and slammed into the lower part of Aegon's neck, stopping his attack.

Ch. 160Wight Dragon

Aegon and the Ice Dragon fought while Wights overwhelmed the Wall, forcing Redd to send Ehm to help and Viserys to take Ehm’s place. The newly risen Wight Caraxes, ridden by the Night’s King, intercepted Ehm’s dragonfire, leaving Redd fearing for Ehm’s safety.

  • Aegon and the Ice Dragon fought fiercely until King Ghidorah severed the Ice Dragon’s wings, but the Ice Dragon dragged Aegon down by his tail and the battle continued on the ground.
  • As Wights swarmed toward the dragons, Redd sent Ehm to help Aegon, leaving the Wall exposed to attacks from the air.
  • Viserys arranged for the injured Daemon to be treated, then rode Silverwing to defend the Wall from the airborne Wights.
  • Caraxes appeared as a Wight, carrying the Night’s King, and intercepted Ehm’s dragonfire with its own ice-blue flames.
  • Redd recognized that Caraxes had become their enemy and feared Ehm was in grave danger.
