Xie Wen failed at the same spot again. He saved his game with a string of curses, then turned to see Gu Bai beside him.
"Interested?"
Gu Bai asked, "The game that came out a couple of days ago?"
Xie Wen asked, "How did you know?"
Gu Bai said, "I bought it too, but I haven't had time to play."
Xie Wen was surrounded by elite CEO types. Having finally met someone who shared his interests, he warmed to Gu Bai all over again.
"Sit down and let's chat. How come I haven't seen you bring your console?"
Gu Bai glanced at Chu Zeshen across from them. Noticing his look, Xie Wen hurriedly said, "Is A Ze keeping you in line? Ignore him. He never played games back in school either. Not a shred of youthful spirit."
Gu Bai said, "Because he said he wanted to play with me, I didn't bring it. I'm planning to play when we get back."
Xie Wen: ...
"My dead youth just came back to attack me." He gave a snorting laugh. "That belated youth finally arrived after all. Even a dozen years late, it still had to show up, huh?"
Xie Wen suddenly felt he could do without this friendship that had lasted since childhood.
Chu Zeshen really wasn't particularly interested in games, but because of Gu Bai, he had tried them for the first time. As he gave them a go, he found them more interesting than he had imagined.
The two discussed games on the sofa while the other two chatted over tea in the tea area nearby. Two different atmospheres formed in the same living room.
Since clubbing had drained Xie Wen's vitality, the rest of their itinerary was devoted to rest and recuperation.
After lunch, they planned to head out to sea to fish.
This was the activity Gu Bai had been most interested in over the past few days.
The people in the neighboring villa had gone their separate way from them since last night. Although they had come on the trip together, each group was doing its own thing.
Unexpectedly, they were so interested in sea fishing that they came along too.
At the pier, Xie Wen looked at the two young ladies, dressed to the nines, their long skirts fluttering in the sea breeze.
He couldn't help asking, "Are you really going to be all right with your arms exposed like that? The sun's pretty fierce."
Gu Jiazi smiled faintly. "We brought sun-protective jackets."
The other young lady from the Chu Family had been distracted ever since arriving at the pier, looking around as though searching for someone.
"Didn't you say he'd come? Why isn't he here yet?"
Wearing sunglasses, Chu Ningwei looked into the distance and tipped his chin up. "Isn't that him now? What's the rush?"
Two cars approached from a distance, and several people got out.
Gu Bai was looking down, sorting out his bait and bait, and didn't notice.
"Wen, we meet again." Song Xiuling walked over with a smile to greet Xie Wen.
Xie Wen was a little surprised to see Song Xiuling. "Didn't Uncle say you were going home after staying here a few days? What brings you out here today?"
"There's nothing going on at home. They told me to enjoy myself before coming back." Although Song Xiuling was speaking to Xie Wen, his gaze kept drifting toward Gu Bai, seemingly casually.
Mocha led Chu Zeshen over to stand in front of Gu Bai, neatly blocking Song Xiuling's view.
Gu Bai was sorting out his fishing hooks, but a nudge from Mocha scattered them again.
"Mocha, stay."
Chu Zeshen spoke up for Mocha. "Maybe he got tired of standing and wanted to walk around."
Song Xiuling looked at Xie Wen with a smile. "Wen, we decided to come down to the pier on the spur of the moment, so we haven't had time to rent a yacht. Would you be able to take us along?"
The people looked familiar to Xie Wen. They were all young heirs to several corporate groups that were close to the Guan Family.
At this point, Chu Hanjin lifted her sunglasses and said, "Wen, it'll be livelier with everyone together. That's what going out to have fun is all about."
Since he wasn't the only person on this trip, he needed to consider everyone else's opinions.
Xie Wen looked at Lu Shengfan, who shrugged to show he didn't mind.
Xie Wen walked over to Chu Zeshen and asked quietly, "Would that be all right?"
Chu Zeshen turned his head to ask Gu Bai, "Will it disturb your fishing?"
Gu Bai shook his head. "No. You have your fun, and I'll fish."
Gu Bai's interest lay not in how many people came, but in fishing.
Xie Wen went over and told Song Xiuling, "Sure. We can all keep each other company."
Song Xiuling said, "Thanks, Wen."
The yacht they were taking out belonged to the Guan Family. It was Guan Yuan's means of going out fishing with his old friends during his holidays, and Xie Wen had asked to borrow it several days in advance.
Once aboard the yacht, Gu Bai's first task was still to put a life jacket on Mocha.
Mocha had worn one before and was much calmer about it this time.
Several people stopped to watch when they saw the dog getting into a life jacket.
Gu Bai had just been about to remove the shell necklace Mocha had been wearing for half the day when Mocha objected, repeatedly pulling away from his hands.
Seeing this, one of Song Xiuling's companions laughed. "Is that his treasure?"
Xie Wen said a little sourly, "A treasure he's been wearing for half the day."
Chu Zeshen took the life jacket from Gu Bai and crouched to put it on Mocha. "Let him wear it. We can take it off when he goes into the water later."
Seeing that Chu Zeshen wasn't removing his necklace, Mocha settled down.
Finding Mocha so adorable, Song Xiuling couldn't resist reaching out to pet him. "I didn't bring Fendi out today. Otherwise, Mocha would have some company."
At the sound of Fendi's name, Mocha looked up at Song Xiuling.
Xie Wen waved a hand. "Forget about Fendi. I'd be terrified he'd jump into the sea the moment no one was looking. Not every dog is as obedient as Mocha."
Lu Shengfan added, "He obeys his owners. He didn't listen to you at all yesterday."
A dog that listened only to its owners was very appealing.
Xie Wen laughed sheepishly. "You're making me want to get one too."
Everyone boarded the yacht.
Gu Bai took Mocha to the upper deck to scout out the best fishing spot.
Chu Zeshen stayed beside Gu Bai, while everyone else was inside.
Once the yacht reached a suitable fishing spot, Mocha came down and walked over to Xie Wen's feet, then immediately turned around to signal him.
