Was she dead? Or was she still unconscious?

A sound came from nearby: the bathroom door had opened. She turned her head slightly to look, and light spilled from that direction. Her lips pressed into a straight line, her gaze somewhat unfathomable.

Chi Ye walked slowly to the bed in his pajamas. With something on his mind, he was about to send a message when he realized his phone was not within reach.

Shen Zhiyi felt someone sit down on the other side of the bed, but the bed was rather large, and she was weak all over, both from hunger and from having been knocked unconscious.

After struggling for a while, she finally pushed the covers down a little. She wanted to sit up, but the bed was far too soft. Somewhat reluctant to leave it, she mustered all her strength, only to make a little more noise.

Chi Ye's ears twitched. The sound behind him was fairly distinct, like someone rustling the covers.

He had intended to get his phone from the study, but the sound behind him left him unsure whether to go or stay. Given that he was currently the only living person in this house, and that he had not moved, what exactly was making that sound behind him...?

He was a staunch materialist, so after a moment of silence, he quickly stood and turned to look. Meanwhile, after a long struggle, Shen Zhiyi had finally, finally managed to sit up, but her hair was so long and thick that it completely covered her face.

From Chi Ye's perspective, a head with no face, only hair, was facing him. He admitted that, for an instant, his heart stopped.

"Phew, finally sat up." A voice appeared out of nowhere, and Chi Ye's heart skipped another beat. His expression was grave as he looked at the unidentified creature that had inexplicably appeared on him, along with that voice.

Shen Zhiyi reached up and swept her hair back, finally revealing her face. Chi Ye looked at the person before him who might have been a "ghost." She had an exceptionally beautiful face, with eyes that resembled both peach blossoms and crescent moons. Beneath her long lashes, her eyes were calm and unruffled as she looked at Chi Ye.

He saw her shadow. After an inward sigh of relief, anger rose in him, and his gaze instantly sharpened as he demanded sternly,

"Who are you, and why are you in my bed!"

Shen Zhiyi watched him retreat and looked this villain from the novel up and down. He was quite good-looking.

Then she silently replied in her mind,

I'm your dad.

She did not say anything aloud, merely watching coldly as the man before her went through all sorts of emotions.

I'm your dad. A cool voice, utterly blunt words. The person in front of him clearly had not opened her mouth, yet Chi Ye had heard a cool female voice.

He looked at Shen Zhiyi in astonishment, his voice suddenly growing louder.

"What did you say?"

Shen Zhiyi had not even opened her mouth. Looking again at this man acting as though he faced a formidable enemy, she frowned in mild displeasure.

Is he sick? Did I say anything?

Chi Ye heard it again. That female voice had said he was sick! He was sick? There was absolutely nothing wrong with him!

But that voice had appeared so abruptly, and he had clearly been watching the woman on the bed the whole time. She had never opened her mouth, so who exactly was speaking?

He slowly edged toward the bedside table and picked up a cup, his eyes scanning his surroundings warily.

Is he really sick? What is he doing?

Shen Zhiyi wondered with a little curiosity. She had not expected Chi Ye to freeze in place the next second, even the cup he had raised stopping in midair.

Chi Ye had heard it again, but where exactly was that voice coming from? Could there really, really be a ghost? He quickly turned to look around. No one. Everything was normal. The only thing out of place was this woman who had appeared in his bed!

"I'm asking you, who exactly are you!"

Shen Zhiyi had finally recovered a little strength, so she answered him. "Shen Zhiyi. Someone kidnapped me and brought me here."

It was exactly the same as the voice that had just appeared in his head. He met the eyes of the person on the bed in disbelief, unable to maintain his serious expression. He put down the glass of water and patted his own face. He felt he was not quite clearheaded at the moment.

After patting his face, he turned back to Shen Zhiyi and continued asking,

"You were kidnapped and brought here?"

She did not want to repeat herself. Being woken by hunger was unpleasant. At the very least, she had no strength left to speak now and could only think silently,

Wasn't I clear enough? Does he have any idea how tiring talking is!

Chi Ye's Adam's apple shifted slightly as he stared unblinkingly at Shen Zhiyi. He needed to test what exactly was going on with this voice and why he could hear it.

"Who kidnapped you and brought you here?"

Shen Zhiyi still did not speak, the impatience in her expression completely undisguised, but Chi Ye heard the voice in her mind.

His IQ really does suit a villain. Not that bright, a perfect match for that dim-witted male lead. I was kidnapped. Shouldn't you get your assistant to look into it?

This time, Chi Ye was truly certain. He really could hear the thoughts of the person on his bed. But why? Why could he hear them? What about other people? Or was it possible that other people could hear his thoughts right now too?

His gaze burned, and then he calmed himself and tried thinking a sentence.

Blazing Fire Technology is the best!

He repeated it silently ten times in a row, but the person on the bed showed no reaction at all. Could it be that only he could hear her thoughts, while she could not hear his?

He was so desperate to figure all of this out that he failed to notice even one of Shen Zhiyi's increasingly displeased looks. She had even been sitting on his bed for ages, yet he still did nothing.

She watched Chi Ye leave the room. Hurried footsteps sounded out in the hallway, and before long, he returned with a phone in his hand.

After reading the message the old man had sent, he was so angry he wanted to drive straight back to the family home and settle the score with him. He had wondered why the old man had agreed to Boss Zhao's request so readily.

So he had received this benefit in return.

Boss Zhao had approached the old man for a favor under the pretext of introducing a girlfriend to Chi Ye. Over the past few years, the old man had been urging Chi Ye to settle down, both openly and indirectly, so Boss Zhao had said exactly what he wanted to hear.

Without another word, he had agreed to Boss Zhao's terms, while Shen Zhiyi had been innocently dragged into the matter.

Boss Zhao had learned of Shen Zhiyi by chance. As soon as the old man mentioned a granddaughter-in-law, he had found a photo of Shen Zhiyi to show him, and the two had reached a preliminary agreement.

But the old man had thought the other party would politely bring her to Heavenly Domain Villa. He had not expected Boss Zhao to simply kidnap her.

The message the old man had just sent was asking whether he had had a proper chat with Shen Zhiyi and how the two were getting along.

As for Chi Ye, he had only discovered another person in his house after finishing washing up. What the old man had said and what Boss Zhao had done were two different things.

Shen Zhiyi was utterly innocent, and Chi Ye felt he was quite innocent too. But when he saw the look in Shen Zhiyi's eyes, he did not voice his own grievances.

"Would you like to get up first?"
