"Is the ground... falling?"

Mo Ling could not believe his eyes. At first, he had thought the earthquake had shattered the ground, but after watching more closely for a while, he finally confirmed that the chunks of earth really were "falling downward."

The pitch-black clouds swirled, their center a tornado plunging deep underground. Like a massive black serpent, it twisted as it drilled into the depths. Every twist smashed the surrounding earth apart, and the fragments followed the black serpent's scales downward, falling into bottomless darkness.

Mo Ling could not see what lay within that darkness, but merely looking at it filled him with a profound terror.

"That must be incredibly deep..."

His heart seemed to have formed some strange resonance with the sound of the collapsing earth, making his chest swell and churn with nausea.
