Tears had completely soaked the dream.
Despair spread through the endless nightmare...
"So bitter."
Mo Ling tasted a bitterness unlike anything he had ever known. It was more bitter than any flavor he had tasted before. The bitterness burrowed from his taste buds into his brain, then traveled along his nerves to every inch of his skin. He felt his body wailing, trying to escape this unbearable bitterness, but the bitterness had already surrounded him. He could only sink deeper and deeper within its encirclement...
Mo Ling still remembered his mission. He had come to save Lu Youqi. Although he did not know how to pass on the uniqueness, he could not remain in this state.
Amid that despairing bitterness, Mo Ling summoned all his strength and forced his eyes open.
The instant he opened them, the bitterness surrounding his body seemed to recede at once, as if a hollow had been created in an ocean, driving all the seawater away.
It was somewhat dim around him. Mo Ling adjusted his vision and focused ahead.
"Where is this?"
Before he could figure out where he was, he saw a lonely figure kneeling in the darkness.
"It's Lu Youqi!"
The moment Mo Ling saw Lu Youqi, he rushed over.
"Are you okay?" he asked anxiously.
But Lu Youqi did not respond. He merely stared blankly at the ground, his fingers hovering over its surface as though caressing something.
Mo Ling looked toward Lu Youqi's face and found that he had no expression at all. Dry tear tracks hung on his cheeks, and his eyes were like deeply sunken voids.
"Lu Youqi, are you okay?" Mo Ling asked again.
Upon hearing Mo Ling call to him once more, Lu Youqi finally broke free from his puppet-like state and stiffly pushed himself upright.
