At a loss, Martin suddenly remembered an old acquaintance—the Eternal Thirster.
"If it told us to search other worlds, it must know something else."
So Martin traveled through dreams alone and returned to the Eternal Thirster's Library.
"You're back, puppet of Dream. Have you made up your mind? Shall I help you break free of Dream's bonds and become a higher being? Perhaps you could even kill Dream with your own hands and take its power..."
When Martin and Lu Youqi had last visited the Eternal Thirster, it had taken a keen interest in Martin, the "Kimchi Jar Person," and kept urging him to become a higher being.
Martin sensed a certain perverse amusement behind the Eternal Thirster's offer.
It did not truly want to help Martin. It wanted to experiment on him and test some piece of knowledge. Its intentions were so blatant that Martin had refused its "help" without hesitation.
"I'm quite satisfied with the way I am," Martin replied earnestly.
"Oh? Someone who willingly remains a puppet? From what I know of humans, they value freedom above almost everything—even life and love. I can see that longing for freedom in you, too, yet you refuse me. I don't understand. Do you distrust me?"
"Yes. You look like you're up to no good." Martin did not bother hiding it.
The greed in that eyeball was all too obvious. It seemed to covet everything about him, as though it wanted to devour him whole.
"Of course I have my own reasons for helping you. I want to acquire knowledge, and experiments are one way to do that... I help you, and I satisfy my thirst for knowledge. We both benefit. I won't hide what I want, so you needn't be so wary of me."
Despite what the Eternal Thirster
