As Martin thought, he walked toward the deepest part.
Sunlight could barely reach where he was anymore. The entire lake glowed with an eerie green light, and the rippling water reflected what little light remained onto the lakebed, turning it into swaying cracks.
Martin quickened his pace. Curiosity drove him onward, and to reach his destination faster, he even used a trace of Dream Realm Power.
His figure gradually blurred, a flash of color appearing deep within the emerald-like water. He leaped several times along the flickering colors and arrived at the central area of Mine Pit Lake.
It was only after reaching this area that his not-yet-dissipated Dream Realm Power sensed that something was wrong.
Martin immediately looked toward an inconspicuous corner. He had thought he would need time to locate the exact blast site from back then, but the moment he arrived, he sensed an unusual presence.
Part of that corner was "empty"...
The lingering Dream Realm Power was warning him.
Although this world had no fully formed dreams, the consciousness of living beings still "spread," much like a Bio-electric Field. In crowded places, such as towns, this "field" was very strong, while in places rarely visited by people, such as ocean trenches, it was weaker.
Within the Abyss, the Consciousness Field would gradually condense into dreams. Here, however, dreams did not exist, though the Consciousness Field could still spread.
It was through this perception of the Consciousness Field that Martin discovered something wrong with that corner.
This had once been a bustling mine pit, with a nearby town inhabited by humans. The Consciousness Field should have been very strong, yet in that corner was a vague hollow, ragged and broken, as though several ugly tears had been ripped into an otherwise intact field.
