Flying between the towering buildings that blotted out the sky and sun, Mo Ling felt as if he were in a deep canyon. High mountain walls blocked out all light, gray mist drifted overhead, and he could not see the canyon's end at a glance.
From time to time, enormous objects drifted past him. Looking closely, he realized they were the massive ruins of one building after another. They stood in all manner of bizarre poses, like crooked tombstones marking the death of the city.
These barely surviving high-rise ruins still retained traces of former life, yet many things were missing.
"No household waste, no small objects that could prove civilization once existed. Just hollow buildings..."
As Mo Ling observed the ruins, he noticed this strange detail.
These enormous buildings resembled "sets" meant to establish an atmosphere, like a movie studio. There was no trace of life within them, only endless silence and desolation.
Seeing this, Mo Ling slowly descended beside Xiao Kong.
"Have you been here before?" he asked quietly.
"No. It's dangerous here, so we usually don't come near it." Xiao Kong shook his head.
"There are many Heavenly Soldiers here?"
"Yes, but they should all have been lured deeper inside by now..."
"Other than hunting humans, what else do the Heavenly Soldiers do?" Mo Ling asked curiously. He always felt that the bleakness here must also be connected to the Heavenly Soldiers.
Perhaps those Heavenly Soldiers were also responsible for clearing away certain things, with humans merely being one of their targets.
"What else do they do?" Xiao Kong thought carefully. "Patrol, hunt, wander... It seems like they don't do anything besides that. They each have their own patrol range and only roam within certain areas."
"Besides humans, do they treat other things as targets?" Mo Ling
