Ch. 82Starting to... change things

After passing the village elders’ assessment, Yubi resumed the coastal mission with Pakura and the others, helping them grow through repeated battles against Kirigakure ninja. When Sasori told him he had joined the Anbu, Yubi prepared to finish the mission and return to Sunagakure to begin changing the village.

  • Arai told Yubi that the elders had accepted his performance and asked him to ease up on his students’ training, but Yubi dismissed their concerns.
  • Yubi set out again with Pakura and the other three, intending to complete the assignment and strengthen their foundations.
  • Yubi led the squad through months of battles against Kirigakure infiltrators, and the four improved their combat skills and judgment.
  • The squad drove off many Kirigakure teams, and enemy activity along the Land of Wind’s coast declined.
  • Sasori sent Yubi a letter saying he had become a Jonin and joined the Anbu as a unit captain.
  • Yubi decided to clear out the remaining Kirigakure ninja and return to Sunagakure to begin changing the village.

Ch. 83Kirigakure's card

Yubi’s sweeping attacks devastated Kirigakure’s infiltrators until he was summoned to help stop a squad led by Karatachi Yagura. He hurried to the battle, recognizing that Kirigakure had sent Yagura to counter him and shift the coastal conflict.

  • Yubi killed the last Kirigakure shinobi in a desert skirmish and headed for the final hideout he had found.
  • A Sunagakure shinobi told Yubi that Karatachi Yagura’s squad had broken through a frontline outpost and killed many defenders.
  • Yubi inferred that Kirigakure had sent Yagura to defeat him and regain leverage in the conflict.
  • Yubi and the messenger reached the sandy wasteland, where Yubi spotted the two sides fighting and charged toward them.

Ch. 84An invitation from a junior

Yubi arrived in time to save Kazuma’s remaining Sunagakure forces from Yagura’s Kirigakure squad and held off the enemy so they could retreat. Left facing Yagura and two elite ninja alone, he prepared to fight without holding back.

  • Yagura overwhelmed Kazuma’s outnumbering Sunagakure squad, forcing Kazuma to order a retreat.
  • Yubi appeared, bound and wounded a Kirigakure ninja with his threads, then launched a surprise attack that Yagura had to interrupt.
  • Yubi fought Yagura in close combat and told Kazuma to leave with the surviving Sunagakure ninja.
  • After Kazuma’s group withdrew, Yubi concealed his full strength no longer and faced Yagura and the two remaining Kirigakure ninja.
  • Yagura rejected a one-on-one fight and ordered all three Kirigakure ninja to attack Yubi together.

Ch. 85Sent the future Mizukage running?

Yubi fought Karatachi Yagura and two Kirigakure ninja, using his Blood Release abilities to overcome their coordinated attacks. After Yubi killed one of Yagura’s subordinates and kept up the pressure, Yagura ordered a retreat, leaving Yubi surprised that the future Mizukage had run.

  • Yagura and two Kirigakure ninja coordinated Water Release attacks and clones to pin Yubi down while guarding against his Blood Release.
  • Yubi used Blood Release: Wing King to evade their attacks and kill one Kirigakure ninja with Death Waltz, while the other escaped.
  • Yagura told his remaining subordinate to keep his distance and took the lead as they fought Yubi with Taijutsu, Water Release, and ranged attacks.
  • Yubi increased the pressure with his speed, throwing knives, and Chakra Scalpel, while Yagura noticed his stamina and recovery were unusually strong.
  • Yagura called for a retreat, and he and his surviving subordinate fled as Yubi wondered if they had run away.

Ch. 86A perfect score

Yubi drove Karatachi Yagura and his Kirigakure companion from the border, then returned to Sunagakure with his students after the mission ended. He downplayed his victory in the report and, after the team disbanded, went to meet Sasori.

  • Yubi pursued Yagura and his companion until they left the border, then reunited with the arriving Sunagakure shinobi.
  • Yagura assessed Yubi's abilities and concluded that Kirigakure would need to send more elite fighters to kill him.
  • Half a month later, Yubi returned to Sunagakure with his four students after confirming Kirigakure had stopped infiltrating the border.
  • Yubi understated his role in the battle when answering questions and writing the mission report.
  • Yubi's temporary team disbanded, and he met Sasori after returning to the village.

Ch. 87You need to know how to play the game...

Yubi and Sasori reviewed a list of Sunagakure leaders targeted for elimination, then discussed how to reshape the village without leaving it vulnerable. Yubi chose to join the Council of Advisors to study Sunagakure’s finances and administration, while Sasori monitored rivalries among the Third Kazekage’s supporters so they could turn factions against one another.

  • Sasori showed Yubi information on key Sunagakure officials, including Chiyo, whom Sasori believed should be killed.
  • Yubi argued that eliminating Chiyo along with the Kazekage would weaken Sunagakure too severely, and Sasori explained that he intended to replace the ruling ranks gradually over several years.
  • Sasori asked which department Yubi would join after the Kazekage appointed him, and Yubi said he wanted to join the Council of Advisors.
  • Yubi explained that the Council would give him access to village records, economic matters, and reports to the Daimyo of the Land of Wind so he could work to improve Sunagakure’s condition.
  • Yubi told Sasori to study tensions among the Third Kazekage’s supporters, especially those threatened by Rasa’s rise, and suggested fanning their rivalries until they fought among themselves.
  • Sasori called Yubi a devious bastard, and Yubi was left speechless.

Ch. 88Young and inexperienced? Or utterly loyal...

Yubi was appointed hospital director and set to eventually succeed Chiyo as head of Sunagakure’s Medical Division. He persuaded the Third Kazekage to let him study the village’s economic problems as a potential advisor, and the Kazekage agreed to give him access to the figures.

  • The Third Kazekage appointed Yubi hospital director and told him he was expected to take over the Medical Division from Chiyo in time.
  • Yubi asked to join the Council of Advisors as an economic advisor, and the Kazekage warned him that the role required extensive knowledge.
  • Yubi argued that he could manage the hospital while learning about the economy and helping the village in other ways.
  • The Third Kazekage explained that Sunagakure and the Land of Wind were facing serious economic troubles and challenged Yubi to prove he could help.
  • The Kazekage relented and told Yubi to examine the figures, and Yubi was relieved that his request had worked.

Ch. 89What a huge... mess

Yubi studied the Land of Wind’s dire economic and population problems and considered ways to make Sunagakure recover before the next war. He left the chapter resolved to turn his existing abilities into money while continuing to develop his plans.

  • Yubi reviewed the village’s information and concluded that Sunagakure faced a severe population crisis as well as economic stagnation.
  • Yubi examined the Land of Wind’s limited resources and trade, then considered producing military supplies but recognized the costs and competition.
  • Yubi decided that Sunagakure needed either a system-assisted way to acquire wealth or a monopoly over an essential industry.
  • Yubi reasoned that the Third Shinobi World War would still need to happen on schedule and could help Sunagakure transform itself and profit from the conflict.
  • Sasori passed outside Yubi’s office, and Yubi resolved to use the abilities he already had to make money and advance his plans.

Ch. 90No resources? Then create them!

Yubi worked to turn dissatisfaction with Rasa into a political rift by cultivating Fukushima Oka and Nohara Murashi, while beginning a plan to develop and monopolize medicines. He left the tensions to grow over time as he prepared to make Sunagakure a major medical power.

  • Sasori gave Yubi a dossier identifying Fukushima Oka and Nohara Murashi as accomplished young shinobi who were not on good terms with Rasa.
  • Yubi decided to use the two men’s dissatisfaction with Rasa to deepen class and factional divisions in Sunagakure.
  • Yubi befriended Fukushima Oka and Nohara Murashi through his students, tested their feelings about Rasa, and quietly praised their achievements around the village.
  • Yubi began gathering medicinal ingredients and planning to develop and mass-produce medicines using his medical knowledge and Kuroo Hazama’s legacy.

Ch. 91Burning Through Money Like Crazy

Yubi spent his savings researching medicines and improving Sunagakure’s medical system, then ran out of money and asked Sasori for help. Their conversation also revealed a growing dispute among the village’s leaders over whether to spend limited funds on military readiness or reconstruction.

  • Yubi established a hospital department to study medicinal ingredients, recruited village experts, and began reforming medical care and training future medical ninja.
  • Yubi’s research and other projects consumed his savings, so he asked Sasori to lend him money and request a contribution from Chiyo.
  • Sasori told Yubi that Sunagakure’s leaders disagreed over whether to spend the daimyo’s limited funds on military preparations or village reconstruction.
  • Yubi connected the reconstruction faction’s influence to the rising recognition of Nohara Murashi and Fukushima Oka, and said they should wait as events developed.
  • An Anbu member delivered money to Yubi the next day, and Yubi realized Sasori had likely obtained some from Chiyo.

Ch. 92Making money!!!

Yubi ran out of funds for his medical research and decided to travel through the Shinobi World to earn money as a bounty hunter. After making arrangements with Saori and Sasori and receiving the Kazekage’s permission, he left Sunagakure to work.

  • Yubi recognized that village gossip about Rasa, Fukushima Oka, and Nohara Murashi could stir tensions, while new military funding deepened conflict between ordinary people and privileged classes.
  • Yubi told Saori he planned to travel to study regional medicines and diseases, and asked her to continue the research and send him data.
  • Because his research costs had left him deeply in debt, Yubi decided to seek work through the Bounty Station.
  • Yubi arranged a handover at the hospital and obtained the Kazekage’s approval to travel abroad for the village’s medical development.
  • Yubi met Sasori at their secret base, and Sasori agreed to monitor the village’s brewing conflicts while Yubi was away.
  • Yubi left Sunagakure to make money.

Ch. 93The Bounty Station

Yubi visited a Bounty Station in the Land of Wind to learn the underground market’s prices and targets. After finding his own fifty-million bounty and Sasori’s thirty-five-million bounty in the register, he left intending to take multiple jobs.

  • Yubi traveled from Sunagakure to a concealed Bounty Station in an abandoned village in the Land of Wind.
  • Yubi gained entry by telling the wary old intermediary that he had come to make money.
  • Yubi reviewed the wanted register and found bounties on himself, Sasori, the Kage, and many other prominent figures.
  • The old man warned Yubi that he and Sasori were dangerous targets and explained that clients wanted intact corpses.
  • Yubi returned the register, asked whether he could take many jobs at once, and left as the old man dismissed him as an inexperienced rookie.

Ch. 94Starting to Farm Gold

Yubi chose to earn money by assassinating nobles in small nations, avoiding daimyo whose deaths could provoke the Five Great Shinobi Villages. He reached the Land of Waterfalls and broke into noble Uchiyama’s residence, where he killed the shinobi guarding the sleeping noble’s room.

  • Yubi decided that killing one or two minor nobles would bring less political trouble than targeting daimyo, and chose Uchiyama in the Land of Waterfalls as his first target.
  • Yubi suspected the Land of Mountains had funded the assignment because it held a grudge against Takigakure.
  • While crossing the Land of Rain, Yubi saw that local forces and armed groups had made the country more chaotic despite the end of the war.
  • Yubi visited the lake where he, Arai, and Sasori had met Jiraiya and Konan, but failed to find their old house.
  • Yubi entered a town in the Land of Waterfalls under a merchant disguise, confirmed Uchiyama’s residence, and slipped inside to loot it.
  • Yubi killed the shinobi guarding Uchiyama’s room and entered while the noble slept.

Ch. 95Takigakure's secret techniques

Yubi carried the dead noble Uchiyama through Takigakure territory and was confronted by four Takigakure ninja. After killing three, he faced the last ninja, who drank Hero Water and unleashed a powerful bird-based secret technique.

  • Takigakure ninja tracked Yubi to a mountain forest and discovered that he was carrying Uchiyama's corpse.
  • Yubi killed one Takigakure ninja with steel wire and a throwing knife after the ninja attacked with the Mountain Tit secret technique.
  • Yubi killed two more ninja with spinning blades while they dodged his knives and Explosive Tags.
  • A tit alerted the last Takigakure ninja to Yubi's attack, and he survived a throwing knife.
  • The last ninja drank Hero Water, greatly increased his chakra, and unleashed the Tit Chirping Tide at Yubi.

Ch. 96The Daimyo

Yubi studied and killed a Takigakure ninja, then sold the body at a Bounty Station before setting out to target the Land of Stone's daimyo. In Sunagakure, Rasa's military exercise intensified his conflict with Murashi and Fukushima Oka, while news that the daimyo might cut the village's forces led Yubi to consider dealing with him.

  • Yubi examined the effects of Hero Water and the Takigakure ninja's secret technique, then killed him and took his body.
  • Yubi returned to the Land of Wind outpost and sold two corpses to the old broker, agreeing to take half the proceeds from the Takigakure ninja's body.
  • Yubi set out for the Land of Stone to target its daimyo despite the country's ties to the Land of Wind.
  • Rasa led Sunagakure's military exercise and publicly criticized Murashi and Fukushima Oka, worsening their existing conflict.
  • Sasori's message informed Yubi that the daimyo might reduce Sunagakure's military establishment, and Yubi considered dealing with the daimyo after the village's order changed.

Ch. 97The reshuffle began!

Yubi’s plan deepened Sunagakure’s conflict after the Third Kazekage stripped power from the Nohara and Fukushima families and ordered Sasori to eliminate some of their supporters. At the funeral of the slain officials, Yubi saw the village’s civilian shinobi faction’s discontent and realized a reshuffle was about to begin.

  • Yubi earned money through discreet jobs outside Sunagakure and returned periodically to give his earnings to Saori and check on village affairs.
  • The Third Kazekage publicly backed Rasa by praising the younger Fukushima and Nohara heirs while diminishing the standing of Murashi and Fukushima Oka.
  • Civilian shinobi showed subtle dissatisfaction, and the Third Kazekage stripped the Nohara and Fukushima family heads of authority.
  • Yubi learned from Sasori’s letter that the Third Kazekage had sent Sasori and Anbu members to secretly kill people associated with the two families.
  • A month later, Yubi attended the funeral of several former officials, where the village blamed an unidentified enemy ambush and Sasori stood nearby.
  • Yubi noticed the civilian shinobi’s uneasy looks and understood that Sunagakure’s reshuffle was about to begin.

Ch. 98A share of the spoils

Sasori killed Rasa's deputy and was assigned to investigate the murder, further inflaming tensions in Sunagakure. Meanwhile, Yubi traveled to the Land of Rain to earn money by targeting a local group's leader, but discovered the village he entered was also sheltering rebels.

  • The Third Kazekage ordered Sasori to find Rasa's deputy's killer and whoever had ordered the murder.
  • Sasori left to lead the investigation, concealing that he had killed the deputy under Yubi's plan to deepen the conflict in Sunagakure.
  • Yubi finished his pharmacological research and planned to fund live-subject experiments by taking jobs and plundering targets.
  • Yubi traveled to the Land of Rain, where he agreed to help a poor village so he could use it as a pretext to attack a local group's leader and seize the group's assets.
  • Yubi entered the village and realized it was also a rebel hideout filled with wary, armed people and wounded fighters.

Ch. 99Those involved are blind; onlookers see clearly

Sasori covertly killed Sunagakure officials, helping deepen the village’s distrust while Yubi uncovered corruption and infighting in the Land of Rain. Arai grew suspicious of Sasori and secretly followed him after he left the village alone.

  • Sasori killed a Sunagakure senior official outside the village, following Yubi’s instructions to space out the attacks and conceal his involvement.
  • Yubi raided an armed group’s base in the Land of Rain, discovered its ties to Hanzō’s officials, and found evidence of corruption and infighting.
  • Sasori framed another Sunagakure official as connected to the civilian factions, prompting the Third Kazekage to order the man’s execution.
  • As officials died one by one, suspicion and rogue ninja departures increased in Sunagakure, while other major villages noticed the unrest.
  • Arai suspected Sasori but lacked evidence, so he watched him and secretly followed him when Sasori left the village alone.

Ch. 100Arai's self-doubt

Arai suspected that Sasori had orchestrated the deaths of Sunagakure’s senior officials and followed him out of the village. After seeing Sasori meet Yubi, Arai began to wonder whether Yubi was involved, while the two men discussed his suspicions and Yubi’s return with a medicine ready for mass production.

  • Arai concluded that the officials’ deaths and the resulting shift in Sunagakure’s power structure were too perfectly arranged to be ordinary consequences of the conflict.
  • Arai secretly followed Sasori out of the village, wary of Sasori’s strength and his authority over the investigation.
  • Arai saw Sasori meet Yubi and wondered whether Yubi had planned the events, then began doubting his own suspicions.
  • Sasori told Yubi that Arai had followed him, and Yubi said Arai might have noticed something but probably had no evidence.
  • Yubi explained that his drug-testing research had succeeded and that he had returned to begin mass production and distribution of the medicine.
  • Sasori suggested killing Arai, but Yubi chose to wait and considered arranging a private meeting with him.

Ch. 101Can I... trust you?

Yubi showed Arai the medicines he had developed, including treatments for battlefield injuries and ordinary illnesses, and explained their potential to transform Sunagakure and the wider Shinobi World. After leading a stunned Arai back to his office, Yubi asked whether he could trust him.

  • Arai met Yubi at the hospital, and Yubi brought him to the research laboratory.
  • Yubi showed Arai several newly developed medicines and described their effects and advantages over existing treatments.
  • Yubi explained that he had also developed medicines for ordinary people and had kept the results from the village leaders until they were proven.
  • Arai realized the medicines could ease medical shortages, sustain Sunagakure's fighting strength, and bring the village great wealth.
  • Yubi locked his office door, looked at Arai, and asked whether he could trust him.
