Nine Heart Begonia Lineage

Ye Lingling belongs to a long-established Soul Master clan whose history predates both the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan and the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. Her family were hereditary nobles of the Heaven Dou Empire before falling into decline 179 260.

The Nine Heart Begonia passes through a single line, with one successor per generation and no more than two living bearers at once. According to the clan’s inherited records, an ancestor moved the family to the Balak Kingdom to search for a Blue Silver Emperor, a plant-type Soul Beast exceptionally compatible with their Martial Soul 337 444.

Meeting Tian Chen

Ye Lingling first encounters Tian Chen while traveling with her escort, Niu Pi. Their journey is interrupted by a hostile Soul Master squad led by a Soul King. Tian Chen returns to their inn to evacuate them, carrying Ye Lingling away before he can fully explain the danger 132 134 135.

After the pursuit, Ye Lingling heals Niu Pi’s severe injuries. While later examining the wound on Tian Chen’s shoulder, her inherited Head Soul Bone reveals his human-skin mask. They agree to protect each other’s secrets: his concealed appearance and her possession of a Soul Bone 140 142.

Heaven Dou Royal Academy

Ye Lingling enrolls at Heaven Dou Royal Academy as a twelve-year-old rank twenty-three Support System Tool Soul Master. Dugu Yan recognizes her Martial Soul, becomes her roommate, and takes the initiative in befriending her 147.

Her relationship with Tian Chen develops through their travels and academy life. When she eventually asks for his true identity, he reveals his name and his connection to Spirit Hall’s Second Worship. The disparity between their backgrounds leaves her feeling unworthy of him, but his reassurance—and the sincerity she senses through her Martial Soul—persuades her to remain with him 144 150 179.

Flower Shop and Family Affairs

Ye Lingling and Tian Chen purchase a secluded flower shop in Heaven Dou City. It is not open to the public; she visits when free from classes, using its begonias as a small Mimicry Training Ground 206.

She and Dugu Yan eventually discover that Tian Chen has pursued both of them under different identities. Although deeply hurt, Ye Lingling accepts sharing the relationship specifically because the other woman is Dugu Yan. Tian E subsequently acknowledges her as his grandson’s girlfriend and welcomes her into the family 205 206.

Ye Lingling later brings Tian Chen to her family’s estate in Barak City. Their visit exposes the pressure placed on the Ye family by the kingdom’s third prince and his uncle. After the longstanding threat is resolved, she receives the Azure Vine Soul Bone from Tian Chen. Her grandfather later plans to relocate the family and Niu Pi’s group to Spirit City, with Tian Chen agreeing to arrange the move 214 218 221 222 256.

Supporting Dugu Yan and Later Cultivation

After receiving a letter from Dugu Yan, Ye Lingling chooses to leave Tian Chen temporarily to help her friend cultivate. She worries that Dugu Yan’s request for healing support means she has suffered serious injuries, and travels toward Heaven Dou City under guard 291 292.

Qin Ming later seeks her help for two Shrek Academy students whose Soul Ring absorption was forcibly interrupted. Despite her usual willingness to treat injured students, she refuses because Shrek’s dean, Flender, had previously clashed with her and Tian Chen 337 339.

Ye Lingling subsequently cultivates alongside Dugu Yan at the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. By the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament, she is no longer enrolled in an advanced academy and accompanies Tian Chen as a spectator rather than representing Heaven Dou Royal Academy 400 410 411 414.

Her latest major advancement comes from absorbing the Blue Silver Emperor Right Leg Bone. After reaching rank fifty-seven and gaining flight and limb-restoration abilities, she leaves the valley with Tian Chen and Dugu Yan to rest in Nuoding City before their planned travels across the continent 444 445 446.

Her refusal to assist Shrek Academy is notable precisely because it departs from that established generosity 147 339.

Her softness does not make her naïve or submissive. She recognizes dangerous situations, guards her family’s secrets, and openly challenges Tian Chen when he reprimands or deceives her. Beneath her delicate appearance, she is resilient enough to insist on continuing through difficult terrain even when exhausted 132 134 142 344.

She is shy about affection and often hides concern behind complaints or denials. At the same time, the cultivation gap between herself, Tian Chen, and Dugu Yan repeatedly troubles her, creating an urgency to improve.
