Ch. 822The new Wind King

Aaron helped Thunderaan claim the Wind Lord’s throne and bring the Air Elementals under his control. After Thunderaan’s coronation, Aaron headed to Mount Hyjal to aid the Night Elves and Wild Gods against the Fire Elementals.

  • Aaron pressed Thunderaan to cooperate, and Thunderaan agreed to claim the crown of the Air Elemental King.
  • Aaron accompanied Thunderaan and a force of Titan Keepers to Uldum, where the Tol'vir had stalled near Skywall.
  • The Titan Keepers defeated Al'Akir, and his power passed to Thunderaan.
  • Thunderaan secured the Air Elementals’ allegiance, killing one Wind Lord from the Conclave of Wind during the takeover.
  • After witnessing Thunderaan’s coronation, Aaron traveled to Mount Hyjal to help attack the Firelands.

Ch. 823The battle in the Firelands

The Night Elves and Wild Gods fought the Fire Elementals at Mount Hyjal and in the Firelands, but a tremor greatly widened the passage and brought overwhelming reinforcements. Aaron considered using the Tidestone to reshape the Firelands, but the Titan Keepers warned that doing so could upset Azeroth’s balance.

  • The Fire Elementals began using hidden underground passages to attack Mount Hyjal, forcing the Night Elves to defend Nordrassil and clear the tunnels.
  • The returning Wild Gods joined the Night Elves, and together they defeated the Fire Elementals inside Mount Hyjal and sealed the passages.
  • A thunderous tremor widened the entrance to the Firelands, and the Night Elves struggled to hold a temporary camp as the Fire Elementals surged out.
  • Malfurion decided to plant a World Tree in the Firelands to provide a more favorable environment for the Night Elves and their allies.
  • Aaron joined the fighting, found the Firelands’ heat increasingly difficult to endure, and considered using the Tidestone to change the environment.
  • The Titan Keepers warned Aaron that using the Tidestone to drive back the Fire Elementals could disrupt the balance necessary for Azeroth to grow.

Ch. 824The Usurper

Aaron and several Titan Keepers entered the Fire Elementals’ stronghold to investigate their strength and disrupt their reinforcements. They found Ragnaros weakened and bound by fel, then learned that Garr the Unbreakable had usurped his throne.

  • Aaron and Malfurion agreed that Aaron should lead a group into the Fire Elementals’ main base to investigate their forces and interrupt their reinforcements.
  • Aaron flew into the stronghold with several Titan Keepers and saw vast armies of Fire Elementals preparing to join the battle.
  • Aaron discovered that some Fire Elementals and the flames around Sulfuron Keep showed signs of fel corruption, and he decided to confront Ragnaros.
  • The group found Ragnaros diminished and chained in a lava pool, where he said a betrayer had taken control.
  • Garr the Unbreakable announced himself as the new Fire Elemental monarch, and Aaron prepared to attack him.

Ch. 825The shadow of fel

Aaron and the Titan Keepers confronted Garr the Unbreakable after killing Ragnaros, whose death weakened the fire elementals. Aaron discovered fel corruption within Garr and helped defeat him, leaving the Firelands’ remaining resistance broken and its fire elementals to be dealt with.

  • Aaron had the Titan Keepers kill Ragnaros before confronting Garr, causing the Firelord’s death to weaken the fire elementals.
  • Beth'tilac and other fire lords considered attacking the outsiders, but some fire elementals preferred to settle matters with Garr or avoid fighting the Titan Keepers.
  • Garr attacked Freya, and Aaron used his Avatar form to intercept him while the Titan Keepers fought the other fire lords.
  • Aaron realized Holy Light was especially effective against Garr and poured it into him, causing his flames to turn gray-green as the fel within him emerged.
  • Garr went mad when the fel became uncontrollable and was killed by Aaron and Odyn; the remaining resistant fire lords were also defeated.

Ch. 826Clearing out the Twilight Dragons

After the elemental upheaval ended, Aaron and the Dragonflights turned their attention to the twilight dragons in the Twilight Highlands. They destroyed Sinestra’s forces but found no trace of Deathwing, leaving the Black and Blue Dragonflights in need of new rulers before the fight against him.

  • Odyn stayed in the Firelands to choose a new Firelord and use its flames to deal with the Helm of Domination.
  • Therazane and Neptulon agreed to aid Azeroth after the earth and water elementals repelled the Old Gods’ influence.
  • Thunderaan won the allegiance of most air elementals, allowing Azeroth’s mortals to focus on Deathwing.
  • The four Dragonflights entered the Twilight Highlands and discovered twilight dragons, surviving Dragonmaw Orcs, and Twilight cultists allied with Sinestra.
  • The Dragonflights defeated Sinestra’s forces and cleared out the twilight dragons, but found no trace of Deathwing.
  • The Dragonflights prepared to choose new rulers for the Black Dragonflight and the Blue Dragonflight before confronting Deathwing.

Ch. 827The new Dragon Aspects

Aaron helped the Dragon Aspects choose Onyxia as the new Black Dragon Queen and Stellagosa as the new Blue Dragon Queen, whose coronation required a difficult ritual to grant her the Guardian of Arcane’s power. As the ritual neared completion, Deathwing arrived and threatened to kill them.

  • Aaron gathered the remaining black dragons, and their recognition allowed Onyxia to become the Black Dragon Queen.
  • Aaron considered Ebyssian for the role, but Ebyssian had little interest in leading the Black Dragonflight.
  • Malygos chose Stellagosa over Arygos and Kalecgos to rule the Blue Dragonflight.
  • At the Nexus, Malygos empowered Stellagosa while Odyn granted her the authority of the Guardian of Arcane.
  • As Stellagosa endured the ritual, Deathwing arrived and attacked his former kin.

Ch. 828Clash of the Earth-Warders

Deathwing attacked the Nexus during Stellagosa’s coronation, and the Titan Keepers and newly crowned Onyxia tried to stop him. Aaron helped Onyxia damage Deathwing’s armor, and Archaedas used his Earth-Warder authority to bind Deathwing, leaving him vulnerable to the Keepers’ attacks.

  • Thorim mounted Veranus and flew to intercept Deathwing, but Deathwing knocked Veranus back with a charge.
  • The other Titan Keepers joined the aerial fight and tried to force Deathwing toward the ground, but his strength kept them from carrying out their plan.
  • Onyxia flew to confront her father, and Aaron rode on her back to join the fight.
  • Aaron and Onyxia combined Holy Light and dragon breath to strike the armor plates on Deathwing’s back.
  • Deathwing descended to draw on the earth’s power, but Archaedas overpowered his authority and bound him with earthen shackles.
  • The Titan Keepers seized the opportunity to launch more lethal attacks on the bound Deathwing.

Ch. 829Deathwing's doom

The Dragon Aspects and Titan Keepers defeated Deathwing after Stellagosa’s coronation disrupted his attempt to detonate his unstable power. With Deathwing dead and the Naga’s plans to free N’Zoth in ruins, Aaron prepared to eliminate the remaining threat.

  • The Titan Keepers and Dragon Aspects wounded Deathwing, whose armor broke apart and whose body began turning into magma.
  • Deathwing realized he could not survive and decided to detonate his power and destroy everyone around him.
  • Stellagosa completed her coronation as ruler of the Blue Dragonflight and received the title of Guardian of Arcane from Odyn.
  • The five dragon kings and Archaedas combined their powers, destroyed Deathwing’s twisted heart, and killed him in an explosion of obsidian fragments.
  • Mages transmitted Deathwing’s death to the Alliance nations, while Aaron concluded that the Naga and N’Zoth had to be dealt with next.

Ch. 830March into the deep sea

Aaron prepared an expedition to attack N'Zoth in his underwater prison, using the Tidestone to create a dry environment in the deep sea. After N'Zoth corrupted Stormsong Valley and threatened Kul Tiras, the Alliance, dragons, and Titan-forged assembled to join Aaron's campaign against the last Old God.

  • Aaron learned from Azeroth that the Tidestone could create a temporary dry environment underwater, then began assembling an expeditionary force to attack N'Zoth.
  • N'Zoth's forces corrupted the Tidesages and overran Stormsong Valley, while Kul Tiras's ships disappeared at sea.
  • Admiral Daelin led troops into Stormsong Valley, defeated the corrupted Lord Stormsong, and learned that the Tidesages had sacrificed missing fleets to their deity.
  • Daelin prepared to attack N'Zoth's waters, but Aaron stopped him, warning that Kul Tiras's fleet risked destruction and could not defeat N'Zoth alone.
  • The Alliance backed Aaron's campaign, and the mortal nations, dragons, and Titan-forged assembled forces to accompany him into the deep sea.

Ch. 831The battle outside Ny'alotha

Aaron led the expeditionary force through the seabed to Nazjatar, where they defeated Queen Azshara before advancing on N'Zoth. With Xal'atath's guidance, they uncovered the hidden entrance to Ny'alotha and arrived before its gates.

  • Stellagosa used the Tidestone and Scepter of Tides to part the sea and create a passage to the seabed.
  • Aaron brought Lady Vashj to guide the fleet to Nazjatar and agreed to eliminate Azshara before confronting N'Zoth.
  • Aaron led an elite force against Azshara's palace, and the heroes, Titan Keepers, and dragons killed the queen despite her powerful sorcery.
  • The expeditionary force found N'Zoth's domain concealed by shadow magic, and Xal'atath guided them in unraveling the spell.
  • The expeditionary force reached the gates of Ny'alotha.

Ch. 832Entering Ny'alotha

The expeditionary force entered Ny'alotha and endured its corrupting whispers and monsters as Lady Vashj guided them toward N'Zoth's prison. Aaron and the others reached N'Zoth, where his prison had become a nightmare domain, and faced the Old God at full power within it.

  • The expeditionary force entered Ny'alotha and discovered that the city itself seemed alive with N'Zoth's corruption.
  • Aaron and the soldiers used equipment made from C'Thun's remains to resist the city's whispers as they searched for N'Zoth's prison.
  • Archaedas could not locate the prison entrance, and Xal'atath avoided drawing N'Zoth's attention, so Lady Vashj used her Old God power to guide the force.
  • The expeditionary force fought flesh monsters and suffered casualties as it followed the growing resistance toward N'Zoth's lair.
  • Aaron and the others entered N'Zoth's corrupted prison, where his nightmares and whispers threatened to overwhelm the soldiers.
  • Aaron and the expeditionary force arrived before N'Zoth and faced the Old God as he stretched his twisted limbs.

Ch. 833The Last Old God

Aaron and the expeditionary army fought N'Zoth as Odyn and Archaedas used the Pillars of Creation to reinforce his prison. Azeroth's Legion of Heroic Spirits arrived under Tyr, who destroyed N'Zoth's core with the Silver Hand Warhammer and ended the Old God's threat.

  • N'Zoth attacked the expeditionary army with his tendrils, monsters, and corrupting whispers as Odyn and Archaedas reinforced his prison with the Aegis of Aggramar and the Hammer of Khaz'goroth.
  • Aaron and the others struggled to reach N'Zoth's core while the Old God regenerated his forces and drew strength from sacrifices by the Naga.
  • Azeroth sent the Legion of Heroic Spirits to the battlefield after Tyr awakened and became their leader.
  • The heroic spirits and expeditionary soldiers shattered N'Zoth's shell and exposed his thought core.
  • Tyr took the Silver Hand Warhammer from Aaron and destroyed N'Zoth's core with Holy Light, leaving the Old God unable to harm Azeroth.

Ch. 834Zandalar's last hope

After Zandalari Trolls tried to steal Lei Shen’s corpse in Pandaria, Ra-den summoned Aaron and warned him that they might be in contact with a living Old God. Ra-den admitted he had helped create that Old God, leaving Aaron with a new threat to investigate.

  • The Zandalari Trolls sent a force into Pandaria to steal Lei Shen’s corpse while others drew the Pandaren’s attention.
  • Ra-den defeated the infiltrators with lightning, and Zul escaped with a handful of followers.
  • Ra-den summoned Aaron, who had been traveling through Pandaria with Vereesa.
  • Ra-den told Aaron that the Zandalari Trolls might be in contact with a living Old God and admitted he had helped create it.

Ch. 835Zandalar's little trouble

Prophet Zul escaped confinement to awaken G'huun while Ra-den told Aaron that the artificial Old God was loose inside Uldir. Aaron took Ra-den and his companions to Zandalar aboard the Dreadwake, where Ra-den jumped off to confront G'huun.

  • After King Rastakhan reprimanded and confined him, Prophet Zul escaped with trusted followers and headed to Nazmir to awaken G'huun.
  • Ra-den told Aaron that G'huun was an artificial Old God created by the Titan Keepers and that Uldir had partially fallen out of control.
  • Aaron agreed to take Ra-den to Zandalar aboard the Dreadwake, and Vereesa and Xal'atath joined them.
  • Aaron piloted the Dreadwake past the Golden Fleet's blockade and fought off Zandalari priests who attacked from the air.
  • After they passed Zuldazar, Ra-den spotted Uldir in a cloud of blood-red mist and leaped from the Dreadwake to attack G'huun.

Ch. 836Preparing for the expedition

Ra-den killed G'huun and escaped Uldir as the laboratory collapsed, while Zul's failed uprising left Zandalar weakened by civil war. With Illidan having secured the Sargerite Keystone, Aaron decided it was time to assemble an expedition to Argus before the Burning Legion could threaten Azeroth.

  • Ra-den defeated G'huun in Uldir, whose structure collapsed after G'huun's death, and emerged with his fighting spirit restored.
  • Zul lost access to G'huun's power and was killed, ending his assault on Zuldazar and leaving Zandalar badly weakened and divided.
  • Illidan unified Outland, defeated Maiev's Watchers, destroyed Nathreza, and captured the Sargerite Keystone on Mardum.
  • Illidan sent word of the Keystone to Azeroth, and Aaron determined that an expedition to Argus should begin before the Burning Legion used Outland to invade.
  • Aaron concluded that the expedition would depend on the Draenei's Naaru-origin spacecraft, since Azeroth's own ships could not travel to Argus.

Ch. 837First arrival on Argus

Aaron led an Azeroth expedition through a portal to Argus, where the fleet defeated the Burning Legion’s ships and began landing in Krokuun. As ground defenses opened fire, the Xenedar appeared before the Exodar.

  • Bolvar and elites from across Azeroth joined Aaron’s expedition, which stopped in Outland to collect Illidan and his followers before traveling to Argus.
  • Illidan activated the Sargerite Keystone, and Khadgar’s mages helped open a portal through which the five warships entered Argus’s orbit.
  • The expedition’s fleet fought and destroyed a dozen or so Burning Legion Fel Battleships, though its own ships suffered damage.
  • Velen identified the land beneath the fleet as Krokuun, and the ships began landing under fire from Legion ground defenses.
  • A golden vessel appeared before the Exodar, and Velen recognized it as the Xenedar, Xe'ra’s ship.

Ch. 838Joining Forces with the Army of the Light

Aaron and the Azeroth expeditionary force found the Xenedar and rescued the Army of the Light from a Legion attack. After meeting Turalyon, Alleria, and Xe'ra, the allies gathered aboard the ship to discuss the campaign against the Burning Legion on Argus.

  • Aaron warned Illidan to stay off the Xenedar because someone there wanted to infuse him with Holy Light, and Illidan stayed aboard the Exodar.
  • Aaron and the expeditionary force found the crashed Xenedar surrounded by demons, where Lightforged Draenei led by Turalyon and Alleria defended the ship.
  • Aaron sent dragons and half the Legion of Heroic Spirits to drive back the demons, then Vereesa brought him to meet Turalyon and Alleria.
  • Aaron met Xe'ra aboard the Xenedar, and the ship entered stealth after the first wave of demons was repelled.
  • Xe'ra and representatives of the Azeroth expeditionary force began a meeting, where Turalyon described Argus and the Burning Legion's stronghold, Antorus.

Ch. 839Strategic Decisions

Aaron and Turalyon assessed the expeditionary army, the Army of the Light, and the Burning Legion before planning an assault on Antoran. Aaron concluded they had to strike the Legion’s nerve center quickly, beginning with the shipyard, before the Legion could gather its forces on Argus.

  • Aaron and Turalyon agreed to begin the conference by reviewing their own forces, which included Azeroth’s elite troops, Titan-forged, and Dragonflights, while its top leaders stayed behind.
  • Aaron judged that the Army of the Light could contribute about ten thousand Lightforged soldiers but lacked the strength to confront the Burning Legion alone.
  • Aaron assessed that Argus held limited demonic forces for now, with most demons concentrated in Antoran, while the Legion’s wider armies remained scattered across other planets.
  • Aaron concluded that the expeditionary army had to fly from Krokuun to Antoran and attack before the Legion could assemble reinforcements on Argus.
  • Aaron identified Antoran’s shipyard as the first target, followed by its central forge and armory, and hoped the army would avoid being overwhelmed when it landed.

Ch. 840Operations in the Antoran Wastes

Aaron’s expedition invaded the Antoran Wastes, capturing the Felfire Armory and destroying the demon shipyard before fighting its way to the central furnace. The furnace was destroyed and its stored souls scattered, though the expedition suffered casualties and the demons across Antoran were alerted.

  • The expedition and the Army of the Light traveled from Krokuun to the Antoran Wastes while the forces left behind concealed their presence.
  • The expedition fought through the demons’ war machines and captured the Felfire Armory, using stolen weapons to support the assault.
  • A squad reached the southern shipyard, and the expedition used captured fel weapons to destroy the facility and the ships there.
  • The alerted demons fought fiercely as the expedition advanced on the central furnace, with the dragonflights and Xe'ra helping limit the expedition’s casualties.
  • The expedition destroyed the central furnace, scattering the souls inside and leaving the demons of the Antoran Wastes bewildered by their defeat.

Ch. 841The barrier of the Burning Throne

Aaron’s expeditionary force reached the gates of Antorus, the Burning Throne, but its barrier was too strong to break before demons could gather inside. Aaron and Velen set out for Mac'Aree to recover the other pieces of the Crown of the Triumvirate, while the ships continued bombarding the barrier.

  • The expeditionary force fought through the Antoran Wastes, where demons kept resurrecting, and reached Antorus, the Burning Throne.
  • Aaron ordered the ships to bombard the Burning Throne's barrier, but estimated it would take a week to break through while the demons might gather enough strength in two or three days.
  • Aaron realized the Eye of the Prophet on Velen's scepter could be combined with the other Crown of the Triumvirate fragments to breach the barrier.
  • Velen prepared to retrieve the fragments held by Kil'jaeden and Archimonde in Mac'Aree, and Aaron joined him.
  • Aaron and Velen boarded a lifeboat with Draenei vindicators and headed for Mac'Aree as the ships continued their bombardment.
