Ch. 842Shadows over Argus

Aaron and his companions traveled across Mac'Aree, where he learned that the land's shadow corruption came from the fallen Naaru L'ura, now held at the Seat of the Triumvirate. They needed a fragment of the Crown of the Triumvirate from L'ura, but Void-aligned Ethereals stood in their way, and Aaron was wary when Alleria offered to contact her Ethereal teacher.

  • Aaron saw that Mac'Aree had preserved parts of Argus's original ecosystem, while Velen mourned the Draenei losses tied to the land.
  • Velen explained that the shadow power across Mac'Aree came from L'ura, who had fallen after exhausting her Holy Light while protecting the Draenei's escape.
  • Aaron learned that L'ura's shadow corruption had changed some Broken and attracted Void-aligned Ethereals seeking to take her away.
  • Aaron realized that he and his companions would have to confront the Ethereals to obtain the Crest of Knowledge from L'ura.
  • Alleria offered to contact her Ethereal teacher to help them avoid conflict, but Aaron remained wary of bringing the mysterious Ethereal into their affairs.

Ch. 843Crown of the Triumvirate

Aaron led the expedition to recover two fragments of the Crown of the Triumvirate while refusing Alleria’s repeated offers to seek help from her shadow-teaching mentor. After thwarting the mentor’s attempt to make Alleria absorb L’ura’s power, Aaron took the Crest of Knowledge and prepared to return to Antoran to breach Antorus, the Burning Throne.

  • Aaron refused Alleria’s suggestion to seek help from her teacher and sent Velen and the others to the Arcanum to retrieve Archimonde’s Sigil of Awakening.
  • The expedition defeated the Ethereals on the way to the Seat of the Triumvirate, while Aaron suspected Alleria’s teacher was nearby.
  • Alleria’s teacher emerged and tried to make Alleria absorb the corrupted Naaru L’ura’s power, but Aaron struck L’ura with the Silver Hand Warhammer and shattered it.
  • Aaron picked up the Crest of Knowledge, and Alleria’s teacher retreated after seeing the Holy Light and the heroic spirits.
  • Aaron warned Alleria that her teacher had ill intentions and planned to have Turalyon keep watch over her.
  • Aaron prepared to take the Crest of Knowledge and Sigil of Awakening back to Antoran and break the barrier around Antorus, the Burning Throne.

Ch. 844Intimidating Xe'ra

Aaron intervened after Xe'ra and Illidan clashed, then pressured Xe'ra into cooperating with the expeditionary force. He used the Crown of the Triumvirate to break Antorus's barrier, beginning the final assault on the Burning Throne.

  • Illidan disguised himself as a Demon Hunter and fought demons until Xe'ra recognized him and approached him.
  • Odyn intervened in the clash, stopping Xe'ra and Illidan, but the confrontation created a rift between the Army of the Light and the expeditionary force.
  • Aaron confronted Xe'ra with L'ura's fragments and the prospect of using Naaru fragments to forge Ashbringer, compelling her to cooperate.
  • Aaron installed the reassembled Crown of the Triumvirate on Tempest Keep, and the ship's bombardment shattered Antorus's barrier.
  • Tempest Keep and the Exodar led the assault on the demons inside the Burning Throne.

Ch. 845Kil'jaeden

Aaron’s expeditionary army broke into Antorus, the Burning Throne, and defeated Kil'jaeden after Velen struck him with the Holy Light. As the army advanced to disable the Legion’s portals, Aaron found one leading to Elunaria, where Eonar was hiding.

  • Aaron ordered the warships to bombard the demons pouring out of Antorus, killing thousands and crushing their counterattack.
  • Kil'jaeden appeared and directed the demons to concentrate their assault on Velen.
  • Velen struck Kil'jaeden with the Holy Light, and several Titan Keepers defeated him, sending him into the resurrection process.
  • The expeditionary army advanced through Antorus and began shutting down the portals that were supplying demons.
  • Aaron discovered a portal to Elunaria, where Eonar was hiding.

Ch. 846Saving Eonar

Aaron and his allies rescued Eonar from the Burning Legion and continued their assault on Antorus to free the tormented Titan souls. After defeating the Doomguard Witch Coven, Eonar began restoring the captive Titans, though their recovery would take time.

  • Aaron took a chosen group through a portal to Elunaria Sanctuary, where Eonar was under attack by Fel Battleships.
  • Eonar's blessing strengthened Aaron, the Dragon Aspects, and the Titan Keepers, who destroyed the three Fel Battleships and secured her safety.
  • Eonar explained that the other Titan souls remained captive and that Argus's World-Soul would be especially difficult to cleanse of Fel corruption.
  • The expeditionary force reached the Doomguard Witch Coven and defeated the witches with help from the Titan Keepers, Dragon Aspects, and a captive Titan soul.
  • Eonar freed the Titan souls from their cages and began restoring them, though their damaged souls would need time to recover.

Ch. 847Rebuilding the Pantheon

The Pantheon helped Argus be born and used Aaron’s connection to Azeroth to cleanse his Fel corruption. With Argus asleep and safe, the Titans began summoning Sargeras, but the place where they found him shocked everyone.

  • The Titans decided to bring Argus into the world so they could cleanse him without purifying his entire planet.
  • Aman'Thul warned the expeditionary force that Argus would awaken in pain and might need help.
  • The Pantheon used its power to separate Argus from his planet and form his physical body, but Fel corruption left him clouded and destructive.
  • Aaron used the Holy Light and nature power radiating from his body to soothe Argus and remove the Fel corruption, after which Argus fell asleep.
  • The Titans began summoning Sargeras, and the location where they found him frightened everyone.

Ch. 848Sargeras's whereabouts

Aaron learned from Azeroth that Sargeras had been waiting outside the planet for her birth, and that she had delayed emerging until others could restrain him. As the Pantheon prepared to summon Sargeras, the Titans readied themselves to bring their fallen brother back.

  • Aaron learned that Sargeras had stayed near Azeroth for ages, waiting for the World-Soul to be born.
  • Azeroth explained that she had avoided acting openly because Sargeras might notice and attack before she was ready.
  • Azeroth told Aaron she had been nearly ready to be born after C'Thun's defeat but had postponed it to avoid facing Sargeras at full strength.
  • Azeroth said she needed others to tie down part of Sargeras's power so she could stabilize after her birth.
  • The Pantheon completed preparations for the summoning ritual, and the Titans joined forces to summon Sargeras.

Ch. 849Sargeras's fate

The Pantheon summoned Sargeras back, and Azeroth stopped his attempt to strike Azeroth with his sword. As Azeroth battered him along the way, Aman'Thul sealed Sargeras away for a later decision.

  • Aman'Thul and the other Titans used the Pantheon's power to summon Sargeras back, while the expedition soldiers recognized Azeroth near his hiding place.
  • Sargeras tried to drive his enormous sword into Azeroth, but Azeroth appeared and seized his sword hand.
  • Aaron recognized Azeroth as their ally and saw the many powers contained in her armored form.
  • Azeroth followed Sargeras toward the Pantheon and repeatedly struck him with attacks infused with her powers, especially the Holy Light.
  • Aman'Thul sealed the wounded Sargeras while he was unable to resist, despite his protest that the universe had to be reset.

Ch. 850Epilogue: A new adventure

After the Burning Legion’s defeat, Azeroth entered a long peace as its peoples rebuilt, migrated, and formed new ties. Aaron’s calm ended when Azeroth told him that unrest in the Shadowlands required his attention.

  • Illidan stayed on Argus with his Demon Hunters to hunt demons, while some Draenei remained to restore their homeland and most of the expeditionary army returned to Azeroth.
  • Azeroth grew more peaceful as Stormwind defeated the Gurubashi, Medivh restored Karazhan’s surroundings, and Gilneas rejoined the Alliance.
  • The Draenei left the Alliance to return to Argus, while Orcs fleeing collapsing Outland were allowed to settle in Northrend before the Dark Portal was permanently shut down.
  • Wild Gods returned to Kalimdor, and traditions and peoples from different races spread and mingled across Azeroth.
  • Azeroth summoned Aaron to the Frozen Throne and told him that unrest in the Shadowlands had made his next task a journey there.
