"Gan Junda's disreputable friends have known all along," Chang Yu said. "Actually, quite a few people in the circle probably know."
Word spread from ten to a hundred. Nobody said anything openly, but behind their backs, everyone was watching the show.
"Our family's business is none of your concern." Yu Yan's chest heaved, whether from anger or panic, but the family's reputation was of great importance.
"If you have no evidence, I suggest you don't spread this around, or we'll sue you."
Chang Yu chuckled and left without lingering. He did not take the camera or recorder with him, either.
He knew that, as an outsider, they would all close ranks against him.
Gan Junda was, after all, the Ruan Family's son-in-law. It was perfectly normal for the Ruan Family to dispute his views for the sake of their reputation.
After leaving, Chang Yu tugged irritably at his tie. "What about the dogs I told you to catch?"
Qi Lezhi flattered him. "None of the dogs here are good enough for your dog, President Chang. I was blind and tried to make an unsuitable match."
Chang Yu was reasonably satisfied with that answer.
But if a certain tsundere dog heard it, he would surely be unable to stop his tail from sticking up again.
"What? Who did you say went to my wife's family's house?" Hearing his subordinate's report at the office, Gan Junda began to panic involuntarily.
At the same time, he told himself that his wife had never woken up while he was doing that. She definitely had not discovered anything.
There were only two households in their building, and the other household had been abroad on business for nearly two months. They could not possibly know.
So Chang Yu, an outsider, was even less likely to know what he had done at home.
With that thought, Gan Junda went home and searched the place thoroughly. There were no cameras or recording devices.
Still uneasy, he contacted the mole he had planted in the Ruan Family. "Are you sure Chang Yu only came to discuss business?"
Recently, he had deliberately lowered his material prices, and quite a few clients who had originally chosen Chang Yu had come to him instead.
Perhaps Chang Yu wanted to use the Chang Family's standing to have a proper talk with his father-in-law and get him to raise the prices back to normal.
The answer came over the phone. "There were only the four of them in the room. The servants weren't allowed inside."
"But Chang Yu's negotiations don't seem to have gone very well. Yu Yan even threw him out."
To be cautious, Gan Junda did not dare visit the club that night. He stayed home the whole time, watching for anything unusual in his wife's expression when she returned.
Everything seemed normal. Yu Yan was as caring toward him as ever and even told him:
"I know you've had a problem with Chang Yu for a long time. He came asking to collaborate today, and I wouldn't let Father agree."
Gan Junda smiled and kissed her. "My wife really does care about me more than anyone else in the world."
"You know I grew up without a mother, so you wish you could give me everything."
Yu Yan smiled as brightly as ever. "Of course. We're family. Naturally, I'm on my husband's side."
Dinner was still prepared by the housekeeper. Gan Junda watched Yu Yan's lips and throat, making sure she swallowed everything.
It seemed she really did not suspect him or the housekeeper.
When Chang Yu came home that evening, he did not even need to ask his assistant. A glance at WeChat Sports told him how many steps they had walked while taking the dog out that day.
"Only three thousand steps. That wasn't a very long walk."
After saying that, Chang Yu looked at the freshly washed Xiaotu. "Your dinner money went toward your bath. You're eating at home with me tonight."
-Are you sure you need to be this stingy when you're so rich? Back when I was a corporate slave, I might not have had money, but at least every meal left me satisfied.
Mostly, being a corporate slave had made him miserable, and food was his only source of momentary comfort.
Yet after becoming a rich family's pet, he could neither eat well nor sleep well.
This was not the home he had dreamed of.
Chang Yu ignored Xiaotu's internal complaints. Of course dinner needed to be light. That was healthier.
-Looks like I'll have to raid the fridge again tonight.
Chang Yu would not give him that chance.
"No walk for you tonight." Chang Yu carried the dog into the bathroom. "Your exercise tonight is washing my pants clean. No sleeping until you're done."
He had searched online. In spring, pets could be fed less. After all, warmth and a full belly bred ** thoughts.
Another option was to play with pets more and burn off their energy, so they would not focus on that sort of thing.
Unfortunately, Xiaotu was too lazy. He did not like playing and only liked flopping down to sleep. Chang Yu had to force this dog to exercise.
Yan Junye was too speechless to even complain.
He had already witnessed Chang Yu's pettiness many times.
He vented all his anger on the pants in the basin.
His paws trampled furiously on that spot. He had no way to rub or scrub now, only stomp and scratch. If he ruined them, he could not be blamed.
Chang Yu listened to the furious swishing without stopping him.
Once they had gotten that stuff on them, his germophobia would not allow him to wear them again even after they were washed clean.
Only after finishing his stomping did Yan Junye realize that he had left the pants all crumpled. How could someone as fussy as Chang Yu possibly wear them again?
Chang Yu was just toying with this dog!
He kicked the basin away, then began to ponder.
-Should I just borrow a scarf from the bathroom to wipe my paws? Or should I go for a stroll with wet paws?
In the end, Yan Junye chose the first option.
The second might earn him another scolding, while the first could be done without anyone knowing. Chang Yu would never notice.
Raising his front paws, Yan Junye began searching for a suitable towel to commit his crime with.
"What are you doing?" After hearing Xiaotu's thoughts, Chang Yu hurried toward the bathroom. He did not want dog paw prints on his towels.
The moment Yan Junye heard the door open, he immediately lowered his paws.
Faced with Chang Yu's questioning, he blinked his big, innocent eyes. "Woof, woof, woof."
[What could a cute big dog possibly do wrong?]
Chang Yu wanted to say, I think you have plenty of wicked ideas.
"Come out and eat dinner."
Yan Junye stared at the little bowl of stewed vegetables in front of him and sank into thought.
-Oh no. Why does it feel like Chang Yu is starting to turn into my bastard of a former boss?
Exploiting his labor and docking his money, too.
Who was supposed to get full on this little food?
Chang Yu looked at Xiaotu in displeasure. He actually dared compare him to Gu Hongzhuo?
Gu Hongzhuo could not compare to even a strand of his hair.
Before Yan Junye could wait for Chang Yu to fall asleep and sneak some food, he was locked inside his room.
He was so angry that he cursed Chang Yu all night, without even needing the pillow.
In his dreams, too, Chang Yu's alluring pant legs were replaced by steaming hot pot and malatang whose aroma filled the room.
Only then did Yan Junye realize.
Damn it. Chang Yu, who was human but more of a dog than any dog, was deliberately diverting his attention.
He was so angry that he slept badly all night. Meanwhile, Gan Junda's nightlife was only just beginning.
