Arc 1The Six Paths of Reincarnation

Mu Chen remained in seclusion while his choices shaped the rise of the Human Race and the Witch-Demon conflict. After guiding Houtu toward reincarnation, he declined the chance to rule Yellow Springs and returned to cultivating.

  • Mu Chen cultivated through the Dragon-Han Tribulation, built the Cloud Sea Grand Formation, and saved the injured Qi Yan from Ao Tian before keeping both of them in his domain.
  • Mu Chen met Hongjun, advised him about the Heavenly Dao, and later declined Hongjun’s invitations to attend the Purple Firmament Palace lectures.
  • Mu Chen saved Hong Yun from Kunpeng and guided Nuwa to understand the potential of the soil she had gathered, after which Nuwa created the Human Race and attained Sagehood.
  • Mu Chen chose a human body, raised Nuwa’s three phoenix chicks, and later helped humans aboard a ship by killing the flood dragons that threatened them.
  • Mu Chen confronted Zhurong and Gonggong during their quarrel and sent them to fight near Mount Buzhou, where Gonggong’s fury caused the mountain to collapse and the heavens to break.
  • Mu Chen guided Houtu to see that reincarnation could give wandering souls a path and end the slaughter, and Houtu later established the Six Paths, the Underworld, and the Yellow Springs.
  • The Sages suspected that an unknown fellow Daoist had guided Houtu, while Mu Chen chose secluded cultivation over joining the Witch Race to rule Yellow Springs.

Arc 2The Endless Sea Sanctuary

Mu Chen advanced his cultivation, preserved Hou Yi and Kuafu, and avoided entanglement with the Witch-Demon war while shaping the Human Race’s path. After visiting Tongtian’s sermon and rescuing Xiao Shi, he established the Endless Sea Daoist Sanctuary and left its management to Prime Minister Turtle.

  • Mu Chen broke through to the Daluo Golden Immortal Realm, then chose not to kill the Ten Golden Crows and instead punished Yin You for scorching his territory.
  • After Hou Yi killed the nine Golden Crows and the Witch-Demon war devastated the Primordial World, Mu Chen saved Hou Yi’s and Kuafu’s souls and sent them to reincarnate as humans.
  • Mu Chen gave Xuandu the incomplete Great Way of the Golden Elixir, declined Laozi’s offer to join the Human Sect, and returned to seclusion.
  • Mu Chen sent a disguised clone to Tongtian’s sermon, defeated Zhao Gongming over a fruit, auctioned his front-row seat, and slept through the lecture before claiming he had merged with the Dao.
  • Three demons and the sermon attendees pursued Mu Chen for his treasures, but Xiao Shi arrived and defeated or captured his pursuers.
  • Mu Chen revealed himself to Xiao Shi, taught him new abilities, made him his second disciple, and sent him to challenge Lu Ya and investigate Kunpeng.
  • Mu Chen allowed creatures to settle beneath his sanctuary, named it the Endless Sea, and appointed Prime Minister Turtle and three demons to manage it.
  • When powerful creatures resisted the Endless Sea Daoist Sanctuary, Mu Chen killed the instigators and sent an avatar to follow the Three Teachings’ preaching.
