Ch. 121Deliberations

Dick returned to Odinburg with Pipi and Ruiwen after encountering yetis and berserkers in the Misty Mountains, and he arranged for Anson to shelter Pipi. He told Fisher about the berserkers and prepared to pass a warning to Queen Meve, leaving Fisher alarmed by the news.

  • Pipi agreed to ally with Dick against Manslayer, and she and Anson grew closer as the group returned to Snow Village.
  • Dick warned Gordon that bandits were coming from the Misty Mountains, and Gordon evacuated the village.
  • Dick and the others agreed to present Pipi as Anson's distant relative, and Dick planned to send Queen Meve a letter about Manslayer and the berserkers.
  • Dick's group reached Odinburg and received 50 energy points for completing the quest.
  • Dick left Pipi with Anson and told Fisher that he had encountered berserkers, prompting Fisher to panic.

Ch. 122Return to Withered Manor

Dick warned Odin III and Fisher that a united force of Misty Mountains tribes was preparing to invade the Northern Kingdoms, and Odin III set out to alert Queen Meve. After returning to the witchers, Dick told Vesemir that Kourtney Kardashian was gravely ill at Withered Manor, and they rode there together.

  • Dick told Fisher that the Misty Mountains tribes had united under a new Slaughterer and planned to attack the Northern Kingdoms with over a thousand fighters.
  • Dick gave Fisher a letter summarizing the threat, and Fisher relayed the news to Odin III.
  • Odin III and Fisher rode to Dawn Furnace City to contact officials and deliver Dick's letter to Queen Meve.
  • Dick told Vesemir that Kourtney Kardashian still hated him and was coughing up blood at Withered Manor.
  • Vesemir asked Dick to accompany him to Withered Manor, and they set off ahead of Russell and Geralt.
  • Dick urged Vesemir to slow down when their exhausted horses could no longer keep up the pace.

Ch. 123The leather hat and the flute

Vesemir told Dick about his past love for Lady Kardashian, then came to Withered Manor and found her near death. Lady Kardashian reunited with Vesemir and they shared memories of their time together, leaving him at her bedside as she tried to play her flute.

  • Vesemir told Dick how he met and loved Kourtney, then lost her after repeatedly leaving her alone.
  • Dick and Vesemir arrived at Withered Manor and learned from Jenna that Lady Kardashian was dying.
  • Lady Kardashian asked Dick to look after Jenna and her other young women after she was gone.
  • Dick brought Vesemir into Lady Kardashian's room, where she recognized him and confronted him about abandoning her.
  • Vesemir and Lady Kardashian remembered the leather hat and flute, and he stopped her from getting up to play by telling her that her words were the most beautiful music.

Ch. 124Arrangements

After Kardashian died, Vesemir mourned the woman he had loved and abandoned decades earlier. Dick and Vesemir persuaded Jenna to leave Withered Manor for safety, and Vesemir offered to adopt her.

  • Kardashian died in Vesemir's arms after telling him she had waited forty years for him, and Vesemir mourned her beside her grave.
  • Jenna grieved Kardashian's death, while Dick comforted her and confirmed that the man at the grave was Vesemir.
  • Vesemir warned Jenna that her inherited wealth without noble status left her vulnerable, and Dick urged her to move to [Dawn Furnace City] before the Misty Mountains Barbarians attacked.
  • Jenna agreed to sort out Withered Manor's assets and move to [Dawn Furnace City].
  • Dick suggested they keep in contact through the [Witcher Order], and Vesemir asked Jenna to become his adopted daughter.

Ch. 125Return to the Crossroads

Dick left Withered Manor after Vesemir agreed to protect Jenna and the other children, but Green summoned him to investigate a fire at the Inn at the Crossroads. Sheriff Darwin suspected the missing witcher Kayn had killed everyone there, and Dick faced a paid request to find the real culprit.

  • Vesemir stayed with Jenna and the others, while Dick rode alone toward the Witcher Order.
  • Green told Dick that Sheriff Darwin had posted a notice asking him to visit the Inn at the Crossroads.
  • Dick warned Green that his village might be unsafe and urged him to leave for the city.
  • Dick arrived at the inn and found it burned down, then met Sheriff Darwin and learned that everyone inside had died except for the missing Kayn.
  • Darwin asked Dick to investigate Kayn’s disappearance and offered him 100 crowns if he found the real culprit.

Ch. 126Where had Kayn gone?

Dick investigated the burned inn and concluded that Kayn had not killed its occupants, but he found no lead on where Kayn had gone or who had ordered the ambush. After riding to a nearby town, Dick stopped the inn attendant from dragging away the rambling old man Madigan.

  • Dick examined the bodies and found signs that the innkeeper and his son had been strangled before the fire, while the guests had died after smoke filled the burning building.
  • Dick found an arrowhead coated with Devil's Dust and inferred that the killer had used burning arrows to set the inn alight and prevent anyone from escaping.
  • Dick told Sheriff Darwin that Kayn was not the killer, but Darwin could provide no useful information about the Black Cat Mercenary Company.
  • Dick accepted Darwin's payment and rode west, still wondering where Kayn had gone and who had sent the mercenaries to ambush him.
  • At a nearby inn, Dick stopped the attendant from dragging away Madigan, an old man shouting about the gods and a devil controlling the world.

Ch. 127Madigan's prophecy

Dick encountered a mad fortune-teller who recognized that he came from another world and recited a cryptic prophecy before dying. Dick paid for the man’s burial and learned that the mysterious woman who had visited him had been beautiful, though no one could see her face.

  • Dick asked the inn attendant to give the old madman food and a blanket, then agreed to let him tell his fortune.
  • The old man touched Dick’s forehead, recognized that he was not from this world, and recited a prophecy mentioning a white-haired man, Dick’s arrival, and blazing fire.
  • The old man collapsed and died, and Dick arranged to pay for his burial.
  • Dick considered the prophecy over a meal and wondered what it foretold about Geralt and the blazing fire.
  • Dick asked the attendant about the woman who had visited the fortune-teller, and the attendant said she was beautiful but her face could not be made out.

Ch. 128Longsong Harbor

Dick investigated the abandoned home of the seer Madigan, then rode west to Longsong Harbor, where he learned a rumored green dragon had drawn many mercenaries to the city. The duke was offering a large reward to hunt it, and Dick entered without paying the weapons fee because of his title from Queen Meve.

  • Dick learned that Madigan had gone mad after prophesying about an unknown woman, then searched Madigan’s ruined house but found nothing useful.
  • Dick rested at an inn, reflecting on his unresolved conflicts, the Black Cat Mercenary Company, Kayn, and Madigan’s prediction.
  • Dick rode west the next morning, passed through villages without finding work, and reached Longsong Harbor at sunset.
  • A gate captain demanded an entry fee from Dick because he carried weapons, but recognized him as the Dick of Rivia and let him enter for free.
  • The captain told Dick that rumors of a true green dragon near Deer Stair Village had prompted the duke to offer a reward and attract mercenaries.

Ch. 129A familiar face

Dick entered Longsong Harbor, learned that witchers faced growing hostility, and reunited with Geralt after helping him avoid trouble with the city guard. They went to a tavern to seek information, where they found a crowd of mercenaries watching a dancer.

  • Dick entered Longsong Harbor and turned back to ask the captain for directions to a tavern.
  • Dick recognized Geralt being charged extra at the gate, then paid the captain for information about a witcher sent toward Ravenstern City.
  • The captain described the prisoner as Ivan of the School of the Coyote, and Geralt learned that Ivan was probably not in danger.
  • Dick and Geralt discussed the strained relations between witchers and nobles, and Geralt thanked Dick for intervening.
  • Geralt told Dick that Ruiwen and Russell had returned to the Witcher Order while he stayed behind alone.
  • Dick and Geralt entered a crowded tavern, where mercenaries watched a dancer perform on a raised stage.

Ch. 130Leofu

Dick and Geralt met the charismatic Leofu and her twin companions, Aisha and Weisha, while looking for a place to eat. Over dinner, Leofu discussed the continent’s political situation and explained how the Eternal Fire church and Knights of the Eventide had destabilized the D’Shar Tribes.

  • Dick and Geralt accepted Leofu’s invitation to share her booth with Aisha and Weisha.
  • Aisha and Weisha flirted with the witchers, while Leofu identified Geralt and Dick as celebrated heroes.
  • Leofu hosted the witchers for food and wine, and her wide-ranging knowledge helped Dick understand the continent’s affairs.
  • Leofu explained that she came from the D’Shar Tribes, where tribal tensions and the Snake Cult had troubled the Bacchus Empire.
  • Leofu said the Eternal Fire church and Knights of the Eventide had seized Singal City and turned it into the City of Chaos, weakening the tribes’ faith in true dragons.

Ch. 131The legend of true dragons

Dick and Geralt questioned Leofu about the Knights of the Eventide, island swordsmanship, and true dragons while drinking at an inn in Longsong Harbor. Leofu explained the wounded green dragon’s discovery and the rumors behind Duke Yalike’s reward, leaving the witchers aware that greed may be driving the hunt.

  • Leofu told Dick that the Knights of the Eventide had once been the Order of the Knights of Dawn and described the pirate-led islands and Meteng Island’s sword traditions.
  • Leofu amused Dick and Geralt with the story of a swordsman who tried to use three swords and lost his teeth when the one in his mouth was struck.
  • Leofu explained that she had come with her partners Aisha and Weisha to find her husband Feicui after breaking her vows, and said her two children were asleep.
  • Leofu told Dick and Geralt that true dragons still existed and that dragon tear gems were tears shed by the Dragon God, Tiamat.
  • Leofu recounted how villagers poisoned a green dragon’s food and soldiers wounded it with a giant crossbow before it escaped into the mountains.
  • Leofu said Duke Yalike had offered a reward to kill the dragon, though rumors claimed he wanted its blood to revive the dead and improve male performance.

Ch. 132Gwent

Dick, Leofu, and Geralt discussed whether to hunt a green dragon, and Dick agreed that they should first see if it could make peace with the villagers. Over drinks, Geralt shared painful stories about his relationships and a boy named Puck, before Leofu invited everyone to spend the night together or play Gwent.

  • Dick reconsidered his urge to kill the green dragon after Geralt argued that an intelligent creature who had harmed no one could negotiate with the villagers, and the three agreed to join the duke's expedition the next day.
  • Leofu teased Geralt about his love life, and Geralt explained that Little Yennefer's friend Alice had fallen for him.
  • Geralt told them he had once left Puck, a boy with the Blood of the Source, with a farming family and later found the village dead after a Ghoul attack.
  • Geralt said Archbishop Duncan resembled Puck and used a similar blinking move, but he had no proof that Duncan possessed the Blood of the Source.
  • Leofu invited Dick and Geralt to share her large room, spend time with her lovers, or play Gwent, and Geralt said his heart needed soothing.

Ch. 133Outside the city gates

Dick joined Duke Yalike’s dragon-hunting expedition with Geralt after meeting the duke’s steward, Brownie, at the tavern. At the city gates, the party gathered and prepared to set out, while an unfamiliar woman emerged from behind a heavily armored man.

  • Dick confirmed the monster-hunting contract with the tavern proprietor, and Brownie recruited him and Geralt to hunt the dragon for five hundred Kelang each.
  • Dick spent the night at the tavern, then learned from Geralt that Leofu and the others had left early.
  • Dick and Geralt ate breakfast and discussed Geralt’s relationships before heading to the city gates.
  • Dick and Geralt found Brownie waiting with soldiers and several groups of mercenaries, including ten disciplined fighters in full armor.
  • A mercenary dismissed the need to get acquainted, and a woman stepped out from behind the broad soldier as the expedition prepared to leave.

Ch. 134Little Yennefer

Dick met Little Yennefer during the dragon-hunt expedition and watched Geralt eagerly try to win her attention. As the party traveled toward the hunt, Leidi told Dick about his drought-stricken homeland and a formidable swordsman who had attempted to master Three-Sword Style.

  • Little Yennefer reunited with Geralt and introduced herself to Dick, while Leidi stopped Geralt from approaching until she learned they were friends.
  • Little Yennefer praised Dick for having only Xiya as a partner, leaving Geralt chastened as the expedition set out under Brownie's command.
  • Dick and Leidi talked about Meteng Island's famine, and Leidi explained that he had become Little Yennefer's guard after saving her from mounted bandits.
  • Leidi told Dick that a swordsman from his island had been skilled with two swords but later went astray while trying to develop Three-Sword Style, and Dick stopped him before he could continue.

Ch. 135Wyverns

Dick and the others crossed a bridge where wyverns had set an ambush, while Brownie and the main force stayed behind. Dick realized the creatures were targeting the bridge and helped bring one down, leaving the attack underway.

  • Leidi told Dick about his role as a former captain of the Mettenheim Forlorn Hope and said he could keep pace on foot.
  • Brownie halted the column at a narrow bridge and ordered the witchers and mercenaries to scout ahead on foot.
  • Dick noticed Brownie had not crossed the bridge and saw ten armored mercenaries reach for their swords as wyverns flew out from beneath the bridge.
  • Dick warned that the wyverns were trying to destroy the bridge, then fired at them alongside Geralt.
  • Geralt wounded a smaller wyvern with a bolt, and Dick struck its eye with both of his bolts, sending it into the river.

Ch. 136Our true identities

Dick and his companions escaped the collapsing bridge, then learned that the armored mercenaries were elite warriors under Brownie's command. Dick refused to trust their captain and arranged for his group to bring up the rear as they continued toward the green dragon.

  • Dick killed the injured mercenary who had tangled a barbed whip around his leg, then climbed the collapsing bridge as it swung over the river.
  • Little Yennefer, Geralt, and Leidi used a magical whip to pull Dick safely onto the opposite bank.
  • Brownie led his soldiers away without explaining himself, while the armored mercenary captain revealed his men’s true allegiance and killed a mercenary who challenged him.
  • Dick refused to trust the captain and insisted that he, Geralt, Leidi, and Little Yennefer bring up the rear.
  • The captain ordered the remaining mercenaries to lead the way as the group continued toward the green dragon.

Ch. 137Danger Amid the Green Leaves

Dick and Geralt sensed danger in the forest, but the captain ordered the party onward, where they were ambushed by intelligent emerald-green vipers. The venomous attack killed a mercenary, while the soldiers counterattacked and Little Yennefer began casting a spell.

  • Dick warned Geralt that the fully armored soldiers seemed hostile, and they agreed to stay alert and protect Little Yennefer.
  • Dick sensed danger in the forest and urged the captain to stop, but the captain dismissed his warning and sent the mercenaries ahead.
  • Dick and Geralt heard strange rustling overhead and discovered emerald-green vipers coiled among the branches.
  • The vipers spat corrosive venom at Dick and his companions, and Dick and Geralt blocked the attack with their Mind Shockwaves.
  • The vipers attacked the scouts; one mercenary died from the venom, while the soldiers used shields to defend themselves and climbed the trees to kill the snakes.
  • Geralt shielded Little Yennefer as she began casting a spell.

Ch. 138Gale

Little Yennefer used a powerful whirlwind to destroy the vipers and mercenaries threatening the group, while Dick and the soldiers finished the surviving snakes. The group reached the green dragon’s cave, where Dick’s Witcher Senses detected the dragon and two other creatures inside.

  • Geralt used Sword Qi to deflect the vipers’ venom while Dick and Leidi guarded Little Yennefer.
  • Little Yennefer summoned a huge whirlwind that swept through the woodland, killing the mercenaries and many vipers while sparing the soldiers in the trees.
  • Dick killed the surviving vipers and gained energy points as the soldiers finished their fight without casualties.
  • The mercenary captain questioned Dick for not helping, then ordered the group to continue searching for the green dragon.
  • Dick followed the blood trail to a cave and detected one enormous heart and two human-sized hearts within.

Ch. 139Fanjin

Dick and Geralt refused to help the soldiers attack the golden dragon Fanjin after realizing she was trying to protect her mate, Feicui. The soldiers wounded Fanjin with a combined Mind Shockwave, and their captain revealed his monstrous appearance and ordered his men to kill the two witchers first.

  • Fanjin appeared above the cave and offered to compensate the villagers for Feicui's theft of sheep if they spared him.
  • Dick recognized Aisha and Weisha near the cave and realized that Fanjin was Leofu's missing husband, Feicui's mate.
  • The captain ordered Dick and Geralt to attack the dragon, but they refused and Dick offered to return the commission fee to Brownie.
  • The captain and nine soldiers struck Fanjin with a combined Mental Shockwave, injuring her and knocking scales loose.
  • The captain removed his helmet and revealed his skinless body, explaining that he wanted Fanjin's blood to cure his condition.
  • Dick and Geralt stood against the soldiers to protect Fanjin, and the captain ordered his men to kill them before dealing with the wounded dragon.

Ch. 140[Giant Transformation]

Dick and the captain fought to a standstill while Geralt, Little Yennefer, Leidi, Aisha, and Weisha battled the captain’s soldiers. The captain transformed into a protected giant, broke Dick’s sword, and injured him badly, but a huge fireball struck the captain before he could attack again.

  • Geralt and the Wyverns stopped most of the soldiers from reaching Little Yennefer, while Aisha and Weisha joined her and Leidi to defeat the two who remained.
  • Dick and the captain traded sword blows and Signs without gaining an advantage, as Geralt fought the other soldiers and gradually damaged their armor.
  • The captain activated Giant Transformation and Protection Sign, grew into a three-meter red giant, and punched Dick through his broken silver sword and into a tree.
  • Dick suffered several broken ribs and vomited blood, but survived without his ribs piercing his organs.
  • As the giant captain charged at Dick again, a huge fireball struck him and weakened his Protection Sign.
