Clay returned to House Manderly, became a witcher through the magic of Winterfell’s Heart Tree, and became entangled in Petyr Baelish’s scheme and the Three-Eyed Crow’s plans for Bran. He returned to White Harbor with a dragon egg promised and began preparing to manage the city and build his witcher strength.

• Clay arrived in White Harbor, reunited with House Manderly, and accepted Earl Wyman’s task to carry a letter to Winterfell with Wylla.
• At Winterfell, Clay befriended the Stark children, proved his identity to Eddard, and witnessed the execution of a Night’s Watch deserter and the discovery of the direwolf pups.
• Clay entered the Godswood during the royal feast, drew magic from the Heart Tree, and survived the Trial of the Grasses to become a witcher.
• Clay killed a Lannister noble who had harassed Wylla, and Robert ordered Clay imprisoned until the royal party left Winterfell.
• Clay used Axii to fool an assassin sent by Petyr Baelish, while Eddard recognized that Clay had handled the incident cleverly and urged him to help Robb.
• Earl Wyman arrived at Winterfell, and Clay drew the magic surrounding Bran into himself before the Three-Eyed Crow pulled him into a vision and demanded that he stop interfering.
• Clay bargained with the Three-Eyed Crow for access to the North’s weirwood magic and a dragon egg with a way to hatch it, then left Winterfell with Earl Wyman.
• Back in White Harbor, Clay learned he needed to begin managing the city and planned to seek Earl Wyman’s support for developing his witcher abilities and training a squad.
