Young Master Su felt a lump in his throat. He felt like this agreement was a trap!
This was killing him! Today was Saturday, and with two days in the weekend, Shen Yannian still had three chances left!
It was enough to make Su Cimu's vision go dark!
"Th-then fine. Starting next week, you have to stick to the agreement, or you'll have to pay a fine!"
"All right. I promise to stick to the agreement."
Wasn't it just a fine? There might be other things Shen Yannian didn't have, but money? He had more than he could ever spend. Little Good Boy Su probably hadn't realized just how rich he was. A million each time was an absolute bargain for him. He wouldn't even have to blink before breaking the agreement.
Su Cimu could only comfort himself that once he got through these two agonizing days, his wonderful life would begin next week!
After they settled their agreement, Shen Yannian ordered lunch. They ate together at the hotel before returning to Huaishan Manor.
"The old man's birthday banquet is next week. Do you want to come?"
Shen Yannian's sudden question caught Su Cimu off guard.
"Next week? What day?"
"Friday evening, at the Shen Family's old residence."
"Will Shen Kezhou be there too?"
"Of course. Whatever else he might be, he's still my father's grandson. If you don't want to see him, I'll have him show his face and then stay out of the way," Shen Yannian said nonchalantly.
"That wouldn't be very nice. I don't mind. I've already made a clean break with him. Now he's just my nephew."
Just thinking about how Shen Kezhou would have to call him "Auntie" when he saw him filled Su Cimu with delight. But-
"Could you stop making him call me Auntie and have him call me Uncle instead? You're his youngest uncle, and I'm your fiancé. It's perfectly normal for him to call me Uncle too, isn't it?"
"Sure. I'll let him know to call you Uncle."
Such a trivial matter was hardly worth mentioning to Shen Yannian.
Now Su Cimu was happy, and he started thinking about what gift to give the old man.
"How old is your dad turning this year?"
"Seventy."
"So he was forty when he had you? That counts as having a child late in life. No wonder everyone says the old man dotes on you."
Su Cimu's knowledge of the Shen Family was still based on outside rumors.
"Your dad's old enough to be my grandpa. It's just a shame my grandpa passed away so young. If he were still alive, he'd probably only be in his sixties. But your dad would still have to call my grandpa Uncle. Hahaha, just thinking about it is funny."
Hearing Su Cimu's words, Shen Yannian couldn't help laughing.
"He'll be your dad too. It's time you started calling him that."
"We haven't gotten married or registered it yet. There's no rush. Even if I'm going to call him Dad, he'll have to give me a red envelope for it first. Don't think you can take advantage of me."
Su Cimu was very shrewd about things like this. He wouldn't let anyone take advantage of him.
"Don't worry. My father is very rich. Make sure you squeeze a hefty red envelope out of him."
"Is it really okay for you to help me squeeze money out of your dad?"
"There's nothing wrong with it. He has so much money anyway. Giving it to his future son-in-law isn't letting an outsider benefit."
Shen Yannian didn't think there was anything wrong with it at all. Rather than give the money to his eldest brother to squander, it would be better to give it to his good boy. At least his good boy was obedient and sensible, and could provide emotional value too. How nice was that?
"Hahaha, all right. I'll be sure to squeeze a hefty sum out of the old man!"
"By the way, what kind of business does your uncle do overseas? Is he planning to come back and expand here?"
Su Cimu gave Shen Yannian a curious look. "Why are you suddenly interested in my uncle?"
"I was just asking. I haven't met your uncle yet. Since you're so close to him, when will you take me home to meet him?"
"Better not. My uncle would probably want to beat you up if he saw you." Su Cimu pursed his lips, not recommending that Shen Yannian meet his uncle so soon.
"What do you mean?" Shen Yannian was very curious.
"You know my uncle raised me, right?"
"I do."
"Ever since I was little, my uncle felt bad that I couldn't stay with my parents, so he treated me very well. You could call it spoiling me. If I wanted the moon, he'd never pick the stars for me instead. When he found out I was dating Shen Kezhou, he almost rushed back to beat him up. He didn't even come back for my engagement. He said he didn't want to see a wild boar rooting up the little cabbage he'd raised. In my uncle's eyes, you're no different from Shen Kezhou. You're both wild boars rooting up his cabbage."
Su Cimu looked at Shen Yannian with a face full of amusement, but hearing him say that only made Shen Yannian even more curious.
"In that case, I'll have to win your uncle's favor as soon as possible. I want your family's approval. I've already met everyone in your family except your uncle."
Shen Yannian was very confident in himself. He felt certain his personal charm would win over the elders.
"You haven't met my maternal grandparents either. But they've gone traveling around the world. Even I rarely see them, so you can forget about it."
Shen Yannian froze when he heard that.
"You have maternal grandparents? How come I've never heard about them?"
"It's normal that you haven't heard of them. Their identities are rather unusual. I'll tell you about them sometime." Su Cimu waved a hand, not wanting to say much about his maternal grandparents.
Seeing this, Shen Yannian frowned slightly. Why did he feel like Su Cimu had a lot of little secrets?
After spending two days at Huaishan Manor, Su Cimu ran back to stay at his own home. His own nest was still more comfortable.
Shen Yannian didn't stop him. After all, they weren't married yet, so it was only natural for him to return home. At worst, he could move into the Su Family's home too. It wasn't anything difficult.
Su Yunchao hadn't seen his little brother for several days, so he simply skipped work to keep him company at home.
"Brother, aren't you going to work? Old Su will scold you again if he finds out."
"Skipping one day isn't a big deal. Even if Dad finds out, it'll be fine. He'll just say a few words."
As far as Su Yunchao was concerned, compared with his little brother, nothing else mattered.
"Brother, what do you think I should give Shen Yannian's father for his birthday? I don't even know what he likes. I asked Shen Yannian, and he told me to just get him anything. It's so frustrating." Su Cimu propped his chin in both hands as he pondered.
"It's the old man's seventieth birthday. You can't just give him anything. People who don't know better might think our Su Family has no manners. Let me think. I heard the old man seems to like calligraphy and paintings. Why don't you pick one from Dad's collection and give it to him?"
Su Yunchao didn't hesitate in the slightest to take advantage of his father either.
"That makes sense. I'll go pick something from Dad's storeroom in a bit!"
"Your gift represents the Su Family's gift anyway, so the more valuable it is, the better. Dad won't say anything even if he finds out."
"You're the clever one, Brother. No wonder you've kept such a firm hold on the CEO position."
"Stop flattering me. Tell me what's really going on between you and Shen Yannian. Have you really fallen for him?"
Su Yunchao shot Su Cimu an exasperated glance, refusing to fall for his sugar-coated bullets as he focused on questioning him about his relationship with Shen Yannian.
