| Demon Emperor’s Sacred Heart integrated | 44 | The heart settles above his Life Spring, begins attuning to his body, and strengthens his physical potential. |
Background / History
Earth and the Journey to Big Dipper
Chen Yu retains knowledge of the original Shrouding the Heavens story and has read the trilogy thoroughly. Before meeting Ye Fan, he uses his check-in panel to visit potential reward sites across Earth and acquires the Heavenly Secrets Divine Calculation inheritance 2 24.
At Ye Fan’s Mount Tai reunion, he accurately recounts the classmates’ histories and warns that they will leave their homeland and face near-certain death that day. He then awakens his Void Emperor blood at the summit and advises tourists to leave before the arrival of Nine Dragons Pulling a Coffin 1 2.
On Mars, Chen Yu collects Buddhist artifacts from the Great Thunderclap Temple, obtains the Bodhi Heart, and retrieves the Bodhi Seed and nearly lifeless Ancient Bodhi Tree. When Divine Crocodiles attack, he protects the mortals with an ancient bronze lamp. His presence as a cultivator attracts the Crocodile Ancestor’s attention earlier than in the original story; after an unsuccessful appeal to his imperial ancestry, he uses temporary Saint King strength to force the ancestor back 5 6 7 8.
Inside the bronze coffin, he uses the Bodhi Heart to comprehend a mysterious scripture and teaches the Earth travelers a sage’s complete Sea of Bitterness scripture. He declines their requests to become formal disciples but permits them to call him teacher 9.
Jiang Tingting and the Li Family
After reaching the Desolate Ancient Forbidden Land, Chen Yu shares divine fruit with Ye Fan and Pang Bo, collects Divine Spring Water, and gathers valuable medicinal plants. He leaves the forbidden land cautiously enough to avoid being recruited by the Yan Kingdom’s six great cultivation paradises 10 11 12.
In Qingfeng Town, he learns that the Li Family has persecuted Old Uncle Jiang and his granddaughter, Jiang Tingting. Recognizing Tingting’s Taiyin Body and its potentially fatal lifespan limitation, he accepts her as his disciple and begins seeking a suitable cultivation path for her 13 14.
Before attacking the Li Family, Chen Yu investigates its crimes. He kills its evildoing members while sparing those who have done no evil, conceals his identity, and later kills the returning family cultivator. He leaves Tingting with a King-level Forbidden Artifact before departing to seek allies 14 16 17.
Alliance with the Azure Emperor Lineage
Chen Yu locates the Azure Emperor’s descendants at the Profound Origin Sect. When their guards attack him, he draws on a forbidden artifact to suppress them without killing them. His concentrated imperial blood convinces Yan Ruyu that he may be a Great Emperor’s direct son, an assumption he neither confirms nor denies 18 19.
The two sides establish an alliance: Chen Yu receives the Azure Emperor’s inheritance and supplies a complete scripture created by a demon Saint. Knowing the Qing Emperor’s Tomb lies near Spirit Ruins Paradise, he stages a divination and apparent backlash to make his discovery credible without genuinely attempting such a dangerous calculation 21 22.
While the Azure Emperor Lineage searches for the tomb’s entrance, he stays with Ye Fan and Pang Bo, helps them exchange messages with their families on Earth, and guides their cultivation. When Han Feiyu plots to frame him as a spy and target Ye Fan, Chen Yu kills Han Feiyu, Elder Han, and Han Yishui, then leaves their possessions to his friends 28 29 30 31 32.
Tomb Rewards and Physique Transformation
During the tomb events, Chen Yu obtains the Source Emperor Scripture through a check-in involving Duan De. He also reads the complete Sea of Bitterness chapter of the Dao Scripture and transmits it to Ye Fan 34 35.
To free Pang Bo from possession, Chen Yu offers the old demon a Human Origin Fruit capable of extending a Mighty Figure’s life by a hundred years. The demon accepts and leaves Pang Bo’s body; after recovering, Pang Bo pledges his life to Chen Yu 37 42.
Back at the Profound Origin Sect, check-ins at the Azure Emperor Weapon and Demon Emperor’s Sacred Heart yield the Fortune Mark and Origin Blood of All Things. Chen Yu uses the latter to refine his imperial blood, restore and evolve his Divine Body, and ultimately form the Divine Sacred Body 38 39 40.
Marriage Preparations
Chen Yu agrees to nurture the Demon Emperor’s Sacred Heart within his body and to marry Yan Ruyu. After they discuss an auspicious wedding date, he leaves to bring Jiang Tingting to the ceremony 43 44.
In Qingfeng Town, Jiang Yifei recognizes a Jiang Family bloodline within him. Chen Yu acknowledges a possible ancestral connection through Shennong and Emperor Hengyu but refuses to join the family. He subsequently brings Tingting and her family to the Profound Origin Sect and enters seclusion after rebuilding his cultivation foundations; the wedding itself has not occurred in the provided chapters 48 49 50.
Appearance
- Youthful features: Exceptionally handsome, appearing approximately fifteen or sixteen 46 47.
- Clothing: Wears a long blue-green Daoist robe 46.
- Imperial-blood bearing: Awakening his Void Emperor blood leaves his appearance unchanged but gives him an ethereal, otherworldly presence 2.
- Divine Sacred Body presence: After his transformation, he appears like a distant god-king even while standing nearby. He gradually learns to restrain this aura, though it later leaks out before the Jiang Family visitors 42 48.
Personality
Chen Yu is laid-back and uninterested in competing for supremacy on the imperial path. His goal is longevity and eventual immortality with as little unnecessary struggle as possible. He considers gathering a superior physique, cultivating steadily, and eventually following Ye Fan into the Immortal Domain preferable to fighting every prodigy of an era 24.
His caution is practical rather than passive. He prepares expendable trump cards before approaching stronger cultivators, disguises himself when attacking the Li Family, and avoids fighting Duan De over weapons he considers unimportant. He also knows when to substitute his foreknowledge for a genuinely dangerous divination 14 18 22 34.
He is generous toward friends and students, readily sharing Source, divine fruit, cultivation teachings, and precious medicine. He treats Jiang Tingting affectionately and takes responsibility for finding a solution to her constitution’s shortened lifespan. Nevertheless, his amiable manner gives way to decisive violence when enemies threaten him or those under his protection 14 23 31 32 37.
His kindness also has a strategic dimension: he recognizes Ye Fan’s future importance and deliberately builds lasting goodwill with him and his companions. Helping Ye Fan contact his parents is both a genuine favor and an investment in a relationship Chen Yu hopes will protect him in the distant future 3 28.
Abilities & Skills
Check-in Panel
The system accompanying Chen Yu can draw rewards by absorbing traces of fate associated with special people, places, and objects 2.
- Rewards are random but often connected to the check-in subject 2 38.
- Can grant bloodlines, physique origins, scriptures, materials, medicines, and temporary combat power 2 5 11 34 38.
- The same subject can be checked in with more than once; an immature or unawakened constitution may provide only a small portion of its origin 13.
- Chen Yu plans to complete his Divine Sacred Body by checking in at deceased Sacred Bodies on Big Dipper 41.
Heavenly Secrets Divine Calculation
A powerful inheritance of the heavenly secrets master lineage, obtained through a check-in 2.
- Reveals detailed past experiences, including those of Ye Fan’s classmates 1 2.
- Locates people and groups, such as Ye Fan and the Azure Emperor’s descendants 15 16 46.
- Can determine the timing of events, including the Li Family cultivator’s return 14.
- Risks heavenly-secrets backlash. Chen Yu limits his targets and relies on prior information to keep the danger manageable 15 16.
- Includes a method for transmitting scripture directly to another person 35.
Divine Sacred Body
A constitution formed by combining Divine Body and Sacred Body origins. Chen Yu judges it comparable in overall tier to an Innate Sacred Body Dao Embryo, while differing in its strengths 40 41.
- Greatly enhances physical strength and divine sense 41.
- Emphasizes physical power more than the Innate Sacred Body Dao Embryo, but has less affinity for integrating the myriad Daos 41.
- Instinctively draws in surrounding essence Qi and develops a manifestation within the Bitter Sea 40 41.
- Causes surrounding laws to bow to his presence and dominates the other awakened bloodlines within him 41 42.
- Remains incomplete because its Sacred Body Origin is only sixty to seventy percent restored 41.
- Resists complete suppression even by the Demon Emperor’s Sacred Heart 44.
Forbidden Artifact Refinement and Temporary Power
Chen Yu carries forbidden artifacts that he personally refined. Because their stored divine power and Dao laws originally belonged to him, he can briefly reclaim that power rather than merely discharge it externally 18.
- Uses artifact-derived Mighty Figure strength to defeat and seal the Azure Emperor Lineage’s guards 18.
- Gives Jiang Tingting a King-level Forbidden Artifact capable of unleashing an unrivaled King’s power 17.
- Stored power is finite and cannot be replenished; the artifacts are ultimately destroyed when exhausted 18.
- Separately uses the Saint King’s Power check-in reward against the Crocodile Ancestor. That reward lasts only ten breaths and does not constitute a permanent realm advancement 5 8.
Scriptures and Source Arts
- Sage’s Sea of Bitterness scripture: Possesses a complete scripture and teaches it to the travelers from Earth 9.
- Bronze-coffin scripture: Uses the Bodhi Heart to perceive and record mysterious teachings he initially cannot comprehend 9.
- Azure Emperor’s inheritance: Receives it through his alliance with Yan Ruyu’s lineage 21.
- Dao Scripture: Reads its complete Sea of Bitterness chapter and passes it to Ye Fan to strengthen his foundations 34 35.
- Source Emperor Scripture: Contains the Source Arts system rather than a conventional cultivation method. Chen Yu uses its formations to contain disturbances and gather essence Qi for cultivation 34 38 50.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Bodhi Heart: A rare heart of an Immortal Medicine that assists Dao comprehension. Consuming it can permanently improve comprehension and grant another lifetime; Chen Yu uses it as a comprehension aid 5 9 34.
- Bodhi Seed: Unearthed beneath the bodhi tree and loaned to Ye Fan on the condition that he return it when asked. Chen Yu later conceals its aura so Ye Fan can continue using it 5 6 50.
- Ancient Bodhi Tree: Collects the nearly lifeless tree with the intention of reviving it 6.
- Ten Thousand Longevity Divine Flower: A treasure capable of extending his life by ten thousand years 5.
- Ancient bronze lamp and Buddhist artifacts: Retrieved from the Great Thunderclap Temple; the lamp protects the Earth travelers from Divine Crocodiles 5 6.
- Divine fruit and Divine Spring Water: Collected in the Desolate Ancient Forbidden Land and used for physical improvement and cultivation 10 11 25.
- Great Luo essence gold: Obtained by checking in at a divine-fruit tree 11.
- Aged medicinal herbs: Includes medicine kings approximately a hundred thousand years old, gathered in the forbidden land 11.
- Cross-domain altar: A family treasure that sends messages between Big Dipper and Earth; Chen Yu cannot use it to send Ye Fan and Pang Bo home 28.
- Human Origin Fruit: Obtained through a check-in at the Dao Scripture page, then exchanged to secure Pang Bo’s release from possession 34 37.
- Fortune Mark: Can awaken intelligence in plants, metal, and stone, transforming them into living beings. Chen Yu considers using it on an Immortal Medicine or immortal gold, but no such use is shown 38.
- Origin Blood of All Things: Restores ancestral bloodlines and physique origins. Chen Yu obtains roughly ten drops and uses three during his transformation 38 39.
- Golden vial: Holds the Origin Blood of All Things and allows him to perceive the bloodline pillars within his body 42.
- Demon Emperor’s Sacred Heart: Housed above his Life Spring to be nurtured by his physique while enhancing his potential 43 44.
