Hogwarts' First Flight

"So the rumors were true. The famous Harry Potter had come to Hogwarts." Pale-faced and sharp-chinned, Draco Malfoy walked step by step toward Harry, scrutinizing him as carefully as a slave owner inspecting a slave. Only when Harry was beginning to lose patience did he continue in that slow, irritating drawl, "But I have a question. Was your mother a witch or a Muggle?"

Sean looked at the obviously angered Harry, then briefly sized up Malfoy. Compared with the actor in the films, the real Malfoy had none of that likable arrogance. From head to toe, he radiated the pride and rot of pure-bloods. He was thoroughly unlikeable.

Of course, for someone like Sean, who aspired to enter Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff, it did not matter whether Slytherin was likable or not. Even in daily school life, there would be plenty of Gryffindors charging ahead to clash with them. All he needed to do was stay in his House, attend classes properly, live well, duel well, keep a low profile through seven years, and wait for Harry Potter to destroy He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. Then he could continue with his own plans and head to Hong Kong to make his way in the entertainment industry.

While Harry and Draco were still arguing over there, Sean was already preparing to take a step back and avoid the trouble.

But before he could retreat, Draco suddenly turned his attention toward Ron and Sean!

"Potter, some wizarding families are simply superior to others. If you want friends, you should find people like us—not those wearing old robes and sporting the red hair of inferior wizards. And..." Draco's gaze swept over Sean, and obvious contempt appeared on his face. "And sons of Squibs who are hardly any different from Mudbloods. Their parents are useless Squibs. Even if they carry noble surnames, the children they produce will never be superior!"

That was something Sean could not tolerate!

His brows lifted slightly as Sean stepped in front of Draco.

Draco looked at Sean standing before him and threatened disdainfully, "This is Hogwarts. My father is a governor here. What do you think you can do to me? I can have you thrown out of Hogwarts immediately!"

Sean looked at Draco with a half-smile. "So what you mean is, because someone in your family is a Hogwarts governor, you can do whatever you want, right?"

"That's right!" Draco's lips curled into a smile. He had seen plenty of people like Sean. Many wizards from small families attached to the Malfoy family, or wizards with no background at all, would immediately fawn over him upon hearing that he was the Malfoy heir. This was especially true of those born into Squib families or with one Muggle parent. In Draco's view, Sean would be no exception.

Sean looked at Draco and suddenly smiled. "As long as someone in your family is a Hogwarts governor, you can do whatever you want. That's what you mean, right?"

The same question, but with a different meaning.

However, Draco clearly failed to notice the difference. He thought Sean was merely repeating himself, snorted, and said again, "That's right! Even if you ask me again, my answer will be the same. As long as someone in your family is a Hogwarts governor, you can do whatever you want at Hogwarts!"

"Well, what a coincidence..." Sean stepped forward again, closing in on Draco. "My grandfather also happens to be a Hogwarts governor. So that means I can do whatever I want at Hogwarts too, right?"

"A son of a Squib like you, even if your surname is Bulstrode, how could you—"

Before he could finish, Sean swung his fist and smashed it into Draco's face.

Bang!

Draco stared blankly at Sean and subconsciously reached up to touch his nose. Two streams of blood ran from his nostrils, while his once handsome nose had been knocked crooked to one side, red and swollen.

He had been hit?

Hit by this son of a Squib?

It took Draco a long while to realize what had happened. Clutching his nose, he began shrieking over and over.

Seeing Draco's state, Goyle and Crabbe immediately charged at Sean. Their families were dependent on the Malfoy family, and before coming to Hogwarts, they had been instructed by their families to act when necessary. Now that something had happened, they naturally had to rush to the forefront.

Goyle and Crabbe were both fat and broad. If Sean truly got entangled in a fight with them, he knew he would not be their match unless he used magic. But something Malfoy had said earlier did make sense: Draco really could do whatever he wanted at Hogwarts. Sean could not.

He could beat up Malfoy, and that would at most count as a minor conflict between young wizards. But if he used magic to attack first, that would be a completely different matter.

Goyle and Crabbe's builds gave them a great advantage among young wizards, but like the others, they had almost no fighting experience. In a bare-knuckle fight, Harry's cousin Dudley could probably take on all four of them by himself. Sean could not fight four, but taking on two was entirely possible.

It was not because Sean was particularly strong. It was entirely because he fought dirty.

Quickly shifting his position, Sean faced Goyle head-on and used him to block Crabbe by half a body length. Then he stepped forward and feinted a punch. When all of Goyle's attention was fixed on Sean's fist, Sean suddenly kicked out, landing squarely between Goyle's legs. Goyle, who had been charging so aggressively, suddenly let out a quacking sound like a duck being stepped on the neck, clutched his groin, and collapsed to the floor.

Crabbe, behind him, froze for a moment upon seeing Goyle suddenly go down. Just as he was about to pounce on Sean, Harry and Ron threw themselves onto Crabbe together. The three of them fell to the ground and began grappling with each other. The sudden help caught Sean off guard, but he quickly smiled, turned, and charged at Malfoy.

Malfoy clutched his nose as blood and tears streamed endlessly down his face. When he had seen Goyle and Crabbe rush at Sean, he had thought Sean was finished. The result left him utterly stunned. Seeing Sean run toward him, he turned and fled without hesitation. He was clever enough to know he might not be able to outrun Sean, so while holding his nose, he ran toward the Great Hall where the feast was being held.

Just as Malfoy was about to push open the doors and flee inside, Sean launched himself forward and kicked him in the lower back. He actually sent Malfoy flying straight into the Great Hall, where he fell face-first onto the floor and spat out two bloodied teeth. The teeth bounced twice across the ground before landing right at the feet of Professor McGonagall, who was preparing to lead the young wizards inside.

For a moment, the Great Hall, which had still been somewhat noisy, fell instantly silent.
