An Incident Outside Flying Class

"Very good, excellent, one point to Slytherin!"

Sean lowered his Wand, and the Feather before him slowly drifted back down.

During Charms Class, Sean was the first to use the Levitation Charm steadily, controlling the Feather as it floated slowly before him. Professor Flitwick, the Charms professor and Ravenclaw's Head of House, awarded him one point. This was actually the normal pace at which professors awarded points.

Professor McGonagall and Professor Snape had both taken Sean's circumstances into account to some extent and given him extra points. Of course, that was also because Sean's performance had been exceptionally outstanding.

For example, in Transfiguration Class, apart from Sean, only Hermione and a handful of others could make their matches change even slightly toward needles. The vast majority of Young Wizards had made no progress at all.

Just as Snape had said before, under normal circumstances, points would not be awarded so frequently or in such large amounts. For instance, Professor Flitwick, who held no ill will toward Sean but did not particularly admire him either, had only awarded him one point despite his excellent performance.

As for History of Magic, Herbology, Astronomy, and Defense Against the Dark Arts, Sean was not particularly outstanding in any of those four subjects, nor was it easy for him to stand out. Any opportunities for points had been snatched up by Ravenclaw's Young Wizards. The only subject where he might still have had a chance to compete for points was Defense Against the Dark Arts, but its professor was a two-faced monster with ulterior motives who was merely muddling through. Sean did not want to attract his attention, so he kept as low-profile as possible.

Flying Class.

It was the last of the first-year subjects to meet the Young Wizards.

Sean stood on the lawn behind Hogwarts with the other Slytherins, looking at the battered old brooms taken from the broom shed at their feet and feeling deeply concerned about Hogwarts' financial situation.

He lifted his foot and gently kicked the broom beside him.

Sean sighed helplessly.

Whether this broom could even fly was questionable. Was it really safe to let Young Wizards who had never used a Flying Broomstick before learn to fly on this thing?

As long as this thing doesn't make me the first person in Hogwarts history to be killed by his own broom during Flying Class, I'll be satisfied.

Amid Sean's continued grumbling, Madam Hooch, the Flying Class professor, arrived on the lawn and began explaining how to use Flying Broomsticks. What happened next was not too different from Sean's memories. Most Young Wizards were unable to control their Flying Broomsticks right away, but there were also a few who displayed their talent the moment they touched one.

Like Harry in Gryffindor.

Like Malfoy in Slytherin.

"Up!"

"Up!"

"Up!"

Sean looked at the broom by his feet, which was continuously doing push-ups, and the corner of his mouth twitched. Ever since coming to Hogwarts, he had been a benchmark in many classes. Even in subjects he was not good at, he had still been among the few at the front. He had once thought he might run into trouble with Transfiguration, and he had considered that Potions Class might pose an obstacle, but he had never imagined that he would suffer such a crushing defeat in Flying Class.

Even Ron had successfully summoned his broom. Even Hermione, who was not good at flying at all, had unsteadily gotten hers into her hands. At present, the only ones whose brooms were still doing push-ups on the ground were him, Goyle, and Crabbe!

Madam Hooch slowly walked over to Sean. Looking at the broom bobbing up and down, she sighed helplessly.

Seeing this, Sean softly asked Madam Hooch, "Professor, could this broom be broken?"

Madam Hooch glanced at Sean and said in a low voice, "When something happens, you should try to look for the reason in yourself first. I admit these brooms are very old, but I inspected every one of them before they were brought out. They are all up to standard...

"Up!"

With a wave of Madam Hooch's hand, the broom at Sean's feet instantly flew into her grasp. Sean's mouth twitched again. If Flying Broomsticks had minds of their own, he would definitely Duel this one ten times or more. It would not be over until he got a flying skill out of it!

Madam Hooch stuffed the broom into Sean's hands and continued the lesson. She taught the Young Wizards how to sit on their brooms and how to take off. Just as Sean remembered, Neville's broom went out of control, and he fell and broke his arm. Madam Hooch took him away to the hospital wing for treatment.

Speaking of treatment, Sean suddenly remembered that Millicent had been lying in the hospital wing for three days already. The potions affecting him seemed to be even more troublesome than what Neville had originally suffered from. He had heard that it would take at least three to five days for him to recover, so he had not come to Flying Class today at all.

Watching Madam Hooch take Neville away, Sean quietly watched Malfoy pick up Neville's Remembrall and begin provoking Harry. Then he watched Harry show his might and catch the ball. Genes really were impossible to argue with. His father had possessed astonishing flying talent, while his son's talent was even more terrifying.

Sean lowered his head and looked at the Flying Broomstick in his hands before tossing it onto the ground. Flying was not for him. There was no need to waste time on something that did not suit him.

Millicent watched Madam Hooch bring Neville in. He said nothing, merely watching Madam Hooch leave in silence. By the time Madam Hooch hurried back to the Flying Class, a second-year boy brushed past her, gave her a slight nod in greeting, and entered the hospital ward.

Walking up to the bed, the second-year boy smiled at Millicent and said, "Millicent, I heard you were looking for me. What is it?"

Millicent looked at him. Although the other boy was a year above him, his family had been doing terribly in recent years and could now be said to have become entirely dependent on the Bulstrode family. Whenever he encountered Millicent at home, he always wore a fawning expression. Even at Hogwarts, he had come running the moment he heard Millicent summon him.

"Janson, I want you to teach Sean, that son of a Squib, a lesson for me."

Millicent did not beat around the bush and directly stated his demand.

Hearing this, Janson's expression changed slightly, but he still forced a smile and asked, "Millicent, didn't the seventh-year Prefects say at the start of term that upper-year students were not allowed to trouble Sean before he earned the points back?"

"Upper-year students... Seventh Years, Sixth Years, Fifth Years, even Fourth Years can count as upper-year students. But Second Years and Third Years can't possibly count as upper-year students, can they?"

"This..."

Janson knew Millicent was twisting the meaning of the words, but before he could speak, Millicent continued, "Janson, you need to understand your place. Are you going to listen to the seventh-years, or to me? I think you know which choice to make, don't you?"
