Seeing the worried look on Blaise's face, Sean discreetly swept his gaze over the other Young Wizards at the Slytherin table. He noticed that some of them were furtively watching him, clearly waiting to see him make a fool of himself. Sean instantly became alert.
Withdrawing his gaze, he smiled and sat down beside Blaise.
Looking at the food spread across the long table, Sean helped himself to some roast chicken. As he ate, he said to Blaise, "Blaise, you got here pretty early today. How did your date this afternoon go?"
"Sean, I heard..."
After swallowing his food, Sean turned to Blaise and asked again, "Blaise, how did your date this afternoon go?"
Blaise looked at Sean. Sean was very calm at the moment, without the slightest sign of panic, as composed as ever. This gradually calmed Blaise, who had been rather nervous. A smile returned to his face as he said, "Not bad. Second-year girls have a maturity that first-years don't, and her lips were soft too. I liked that."
Relaxed now, Blaise ate with Sean as they chatted about what had happened that afternoon.
"You mean Granger from Gryffindor? She seemed pretty interested in you."
During class, Sean genuinely listened to the lessons. Blaise, meanwhile, watched girls during class while listening in on the side. With Sean beside him, he was not worried about missing any important knowledge.
Hearing Blaise's words, Sean smiled and shook his head. He knew perfectly well that Hermione had approached him because of her competitive spirit—or perhaps because of the attraction between two top students. It was not the kind of interest between a boy and a girl that Blaise meant.
"Granger is a very competitive girl. She probably approached me to discuss academic matters. As for romantic feelings between boys and girls, at our age, aside from you, probably very few people even think about that."
"It's not my fault I developed early and understand more than others."
Watching Blaise raise his eyebrows at him, Sean said with considerable disdain, "Don't try that girl-charming routine on me. I'm not buying it."
Chuckling, Blaise took a sip of Pumpkin Juice and glanced at the other Young Wizards, who were no longer paying much attention to them. Still smiling, he lowered his voice and said to Sean, "The second-year girl I dated earlier has some connections. She learned some news ahead of time.
"I heard some second-years want to deal with you. When you return to the common room today, they'll hold a traditional Slytherin Pureblood Duel. As long as you consider yourself a Slytherin, you can't refuse.
"If you insist on refusing the duel, the Slytherins will assume you've withdrawn from Slytherin. They won't allow you to have anything to do with Slytherin anymore—for instance, you won't be allowed to use the Slytherin Common Room or this long table. Things will become very difficult for you in Slytherin afterward."
A duel?
And he wasn't allowed to refuse?
What a fantastic opportunity!
How had I not known about this sooner?
If I'd known about this, I might have already dueled seventeen or eighteen people by now!
Sean was ecstatic inside, but outwardly, he put on a proper and dignified front, remaining calm as hell. He gently shook his head and said to Blaise, "Since I'm not allowed to refuse, I can only take part. But you can have a little faith in me. Second-years have only studied one more year than us; I might not lose in a duel. Besides, once I win, anyone who wants to challenge me in the future will have to think twice."
So once I win, I'll be the one challenging those guys!
Ever since coming to Hogwarts, he had had the panel but nowhere to put it to use. Hogwarts had few exams, and he could not casually duel others either, since Hogwarts rules prohibited private duels. Already burdened with a debt of -50 points, Sean did not want to rack up any more. As a result, his panel had gone unused for a long time.
Now that Sean knew Slytherin had an internal rule as advantageous as the Pureblood Duel, others might think he was about to be in trouble. But to Sean, there could not have been anything better. He was even starting to grow impatient.
So impatient that he began eating noticeably faster.
Seeing Sean finish his dinner in just a few bites, Blaise could not help speeding up as well. The two quickly finished eating, rose from their seats, and headed straight for the Slytherin Common Room. The moment they left, quite a few people at the Slytherin table got up and followed Sean and Blaise back to the Slytherin Common Room.
Among them were those looking to cause Sean trouble, as well as those who simply wanted to watch the show.
At the same time, Samuel and Ilina noticed this as well. Watching those people leave, Samuel asked Ilina, "Should we intervene?"
"No. They're all below third year. Strictly speaking, none of them are upperclassmen. We only need to keep those in fourth year and above from causing Sean trouble." At this point, Ilina glanced at those leaving and continued, "Besides, this is a good chance to see what kind of person Sean really is. If he can get through this, then combined with the talent he displayed before, even without the Bulstrode family bloodline in him, he'll be worthy of investment."
Samuel and Ilina had always had a good relationship. Now that they had both become Fifth Year Prefects, they had secretly formed an even deeper partnership. When Sean had first displayed remarkable talent, Samuel had already discussed with Ilina whether they should invest in him.
However, considering the influence of the Bulstrode family, Ilina had not supported Samuel's idea. But if Sean could overcome this hurdle and show them more potential, then even with the minor issues posed by the Bulstrode family, Ilina would still join Samuel in investing in Sean and deepening their relationship with him.
Back in the common room, Sean returned to his own room as if nothing had happened. First, he fed some Magical Menagerie special snake feed to Kulkan, who was curled up on the bed. Then he took off his wizard robes and changed into light athletic clothes and sneakers. Only then did he leave the room with Blaise, who had been waiting by the door, and head into the main hall of the common room. A group of people was already waiting there, and standing at the center was Janson, the one who intended to challenge Sean to a Pureblood Duel.
Janson looked at Sean in his ordinary clothes and gave a disdainful sneer. "You're actually wearing Muggle clothes. You look just like those Mudbloods. It's simply an insult to Slytherin!"
The next chapter will probably be around seven. Of course, if I finish early, I'll update early. Also, please bookmark and keep reading.
