Sitting at his new desk, Sean flipped through the notes he had gotten from Gavin, his brow furrowing tighter with every page.
With a sigh, Sean closed the notebook and pinched the bridge of his nose.
The notebook recorded many of Gavin's theories and academic achievements from his school days. In terms of sheer knowledge alone, it was remarkably impressive. After all, it contained most of Gavin's learning and research from his teenage years into adulthood. But the notebook had one major flaw.
Its contents were far too advanced, unsystematic, and could even be called chaotic. Gavin had probably written down whatever came to mind at the time. By then, he already possessed extensive magical knowledge, so he naturally understood what he was writing and felt brief notes were enough.
However, this made the notebook extremely difficult for Sean to study. The simpler material at the beginning was still understandable, but to comprehend the later sections, he would likely need to study systematically at Hogwarts and build up a certain foundation in magic first.
Other transmigrators learned loads of magic before even starting school. I can't even understand one notebook. I really am a fake transmigrator, aren't I?
After mocking himself, Sean temporarily closed the notebook and prepared to go out.
Yesterday, an Owl from Hogwarts had delivered a letter confirming Sean's enrollment at Hogwarts.
Sean himself did not feel much about it, but his parents were thrilled, as if they were the ones about to attend Hogwarts.
In truth, Sean understood how his parents felt. They had no magic, and ever since childhood, they had desperately wished to enter Hogwarts. Now that he had received a letter from Hogwarts, it was as though he had fulfilled their shared wish on their behalf. That was why they were so excited.
After changing clothes and entering the living room, Yad and Martha were already waiting at the door in their finest attire.
They looked even more impatient than Sean.
Yad and Martha knew where Diagon Alley was, so they reached the Leaky Cauldron without much effort. Going around the pub, they entered Diagon Alley through the small alley beside it with the help of a staff member.
Diagon Alley was crowded. A large portion of the people were Muggle families bringing their children to buy school supplies, though there were also wizarding families. They were simply far fewer than the Muggle families. It was not because wizarding families had fewer children, but because many of them had prepared their children's things long ago and only needed to buy a few books before term began.
Shopping was an activity that made people happy, and wizards were no exception.
After exchanging the Gold Ticket Gavin had given him at Gringotts, the family of three immediately threw themselves into a cheerful shopping spree.
Martha carried the robes she had bought for Sean, while Yad held Sean's books. The family of three entered Ollivanders Wand Shop, the place Sean had been looking forward to most on this trip.
Ollivanders Wand Shop stood on the southern side of Diagon Alley. From the outside, it looked like a shabby little store. Through the window, they could see Wand Boxes stacked densely inside. The moment Sean and his parents entered together, the shop immediately felt cramped.
Standing before the counter, Sean cleared his throat and called softly, "Is anyone here?"
"Good morning..." An elderly man with bright eyes and slightly disheveled hair emerged from the back of the shop. Looking at the family of three before the counter, he nodded to each of them before continuing in a gentle voice, "New Hogwarts student, are you?"
"Yes, sir. I need a Wand."
"Of course. Every new Hogwarts student who comes to me needs a Wand suited to them, doesn't they?" As he spoke, Ollivander took out something resembling a ledger from beneath the counter. Picking up a Feather quill beside it, he asked, "Every new student purchasing a Wand must be registered. May I ask your name...?"
"Sean. Sean Bulstrode."
Hearing the surname Bulstrode, Ollivander looked up at Sean before recording his name in the ledger-like book before him.
"Please hold out your dominant hand." Ollivander took out a Measuring Tape and measured every dimension of Sean's right hand, as meticulously as if he were tailoring clothes. Only then did he take a long box from the shelves behind him.
"Every Wand made by Ollivander is unique and impossible to replicate. Therefore, to find each customer the Wand best suited to them, Ollivander carefully measures their physical dimensions as a reference and selects the most suitable Wand. Wizards who enter Ollivanders Wand Shop can always find the Wand that suits them best."
Watching Ollivander open the box while rambling on, Sean's mouth twitched slightly.
Even if I didn't ask, I still have to hear all that, huh?
The skill of praising yourselves has been carved into the very souls of the Ollivander family.
"Silver Linden and Unicorn Tail Hair, twelve inches. Wizards who use this Wand usually possess exceptional talent in Divination and Memory Magic."
Ollivander took the Wand from its box, but the instant Sean held it, Ollivander shook his head. Looking rather regretful, he took the Wand back and returned it to its box before placing it on the shelf behind him.
"No, no. Suitable, but not entirely suitable. We need to keep looking."
After circling the shelves twice, Ollivander set up a ladder and pulled a dust-covered box from the highest shelf. Climbing down, he wiped away the dust as he said, "This one should work. I think it should suit you.
Blackthorn and Dragon Heartstring, eleven and three-quarter inches. This is a warrior's Wand. It possesses tremendous power, and whoever uses it will surely grow into a powerful wizard."
Sean held the second Wand and gave it a light wave. The shelves immediately exploded, and box after box of Wands tumbled from the shattered shelving, scattering across the floor.
His mouth twitching again, Sean carefully placed the Wand back into the box before Ollivander and quietly waited for the next one.
Ollivander did not take the destroyed shelves to heart. Instead, he looked at Sean as though he had encountered an interesting puzzle, a thrilled smile appearing on his face. He grabbed Sean's right hand and examined it closely, muttering, "Interesting, interesting. I like picky customers. I will definitely find a suitable Wand for you."
Ollivander turned around and continued searching for a Wand for Sean.
At this moment, Sean had nothing much to do, so he looked around idly. Then, a Wand Box that had fallen beside the counter caught his attention. It was one of the many boxes that had dropped when the shelves exploded, and it had happened to land not far from Sean's right hand.
As if drawn by some unseen force, Sean subconsciously reached out and grasped the Wand handle protruding from the box. In that instant, threads of Electric Light spilled from the Wand's tip and instantly burned the Wand Box away. When he lightly waved the black Wand, fine sparks of electricity traced a blue arc through the air before him.
Ollivander, who had just found another Wand and was about to have Sean try it, happened to witness the scene.
