Some people might say the Food System is at the bottom of all the systems, but what I have to say here is: maybe?
If the protagonist only had one Martial Soul, he definitely wouldn't take the Food System route.
But the protagonist has two Martial Souls, so he can.
He's the protagonist, after all. Who says the Food System has no combat power later on? Aren't Oscar and Xu Lizhi examples? They're even just supporting characters.
As for Food System boosts having time limits?
Well, what kind of boost Soul Skill doesn't have a time limit?
The most classic examples are Dai Mubai's three major boost Soul Skills: White Tiger Protective Barrier, White Tiger Vajra Transformation, and White Tiger Demon God Transformation. Stacking all three gives very high stats, but it also consumes a great deal of his own Soul Power.
But a Food System Soul Master's food can be prepared in advance. Eating it provides a boost, and it no longer requires any Soul Power expenditure. That's an advantage too, isn't it?
