Song Yu had gone to bed a little late yesterday, and being woken up now put him in a very bad mood.
So when he opened his eyes, they were cold and irritated.
His gaze cut like a knife toward the person who had woken him.
The delinquent noticed too, tilting his head to size Song Yu up, his eyes narrowing slightly.
Seeing Song Yu properly dressed in his school uniform, looking delicate and thin, he immediately grinned, lowered his legs, and stood up with ill intent. "Hey, transfer student, let's discuss something."
Song Yu rubbed between his eyebrows, his expression gloomy.
The student in front of him now had eyes as red as a rabbit's. Sniffling and shedding tears, he crouched to pick up his books.
Most of the boys in this last classroom were slackers. Unable to afford offending the delinquent, they could only pretend not to see.
The delinquent regularly climbed over the wall to skip class and go online, so absorbed in games that he paid no attention to anything outside them. Naturally, he had no idea Jingcheng No. 1 High School had a new school bully, nor did he recognize Song Yu. He only thought he looked easy to push around. Moving closer, he planted a hand on Song Yu's desk and chuckled. "Help a brother out during the exam, will you? Pass me each answer as you finish it, or we can just swap papers. You don't look stupid. You should know what I mean."
Song Yu tugged at the corner of his mouth and raised his head slightly, his eyes mocking and his voice icy. "But you look stupid to me."
The delinquent froze, his face instantly darkening. Angry, he reached out to grab Song Yu's collar. "You won't do this the easy way? I don't think you need to take the exam at all."
Song Yu caught his wrist and yanked him forward, then kicked him in the knee, sending him to his knees on the floor.
The delinquent's eyes widened. He couldn't move at all.
Expressionless, Song Yu pressed down on his head and pointed at the books and stationery on the floor with his other hand. His voice was cold. "Pick them up and wipe them clean. Miss one thing, and I'll twist your head off."
His movements were so forceful and cool that the students who had been too afraid to voice their anger stared in astonishment.
Sunlight streamed through the glass onto the boy's pale hair. He looked clear and clean, his presence unrestrained.
Someone in the classroom recognized him. "Brother Yu!"
The whispering immediately grew.
"That's Brother Yu?"
"...Holy shit, he really is that handsome in person?"
Even the sobbing boy froze. Behind his thick glasses, his eyes were as red as a rabbit's as he looked at Song Yu.
Kneeling on the floor, the delinquent felt as though his knees had fallen apart. Realizing he had offended someone tough, he lost all his swagger and was scared shitless. With trembling hands, he scooped up all the books on the floor, wiped them clean on his clothes, and returned them.
Like a beaten dog, he limped back to his seat, supporting himself on the desks.
Everyone in the classroom sucked in a cold breath, marveling inwardly at how terrifying Brother Yu was.
Holding his pencil case, the boy said timidly, "Thank you."
Most of Song Yu's drowsiness had faded. He rubbed an eye, the hostility gone, and said, "No need. Punishing evil and promoting good is what a school bully should do."
Back in his seat, the delinquent was furious, rocking his chair with loud creaks and refusing to settle down.
Song Yu raised his eyes, his gaze sharp as a blade.
That side of the room immediately went quiet.
Turning back, Song Yu slowly added, "And maintaining discipline."
The whole class: "..."
You school bullies sure were busy.
The bell rang, and the invigilator walked in. The first exam was Chinese. The invigilator knew what to expect from the last exam room and would turn a blind eye. As long as they didn't go too far, they could pass notes all they wanted.
But today was different.
Being assigned to the same classroom, they were all about equally bad. With the imposing presence of Song Yu there too, they didn't even dare cheat.
The invigilator sat at the front playing on her phone. Partway through, she looked up and met the eyes of nearly half the class, everyone staring at one another.
The room suddenly went rather quiet.
The students: "..." Bewildered, they didn't know what to do.
The teacher: "..." Startled, she wondered if they objected to her playing on her phone.
The teacher coughed, put away her phone, and began walking around to keep up appearances. As she paced back and forth, her gaze was drawn to Song Yu in the last row. After all, the handsome boy quietly answering questions stood out in this classroom. Standing beside him, she glanced at his reading comprehension and classical poetry and prose recall answers. They were solid; he had secured all the points he should.
A smile in her eyes, the teacher nodded in satisfaction.
Everyone in the class saw that gesture, and it became a signal.
A suspicion silently formed in their minds-holy shit, Brother Yu really was a study god?
Chinese essays were probably something Song Yu had found particularly annoying in both his lives. The moment he handed in his paper, he felt refreshed.
At noon, he returned to the apartment with Xie Sui.
Song Yu said, "I think I should make the top hundred in our grade this time, as long as my essay wasn't off-topic."
Xie Sui smiled. "Well done."
Song Yu was enthusiastic. "Let me check the multiple-choice answers with you. Was it AAAD?"
Xie Sui glanced at him. "Forget it once the exam is over. Prepare for the next one."
An ominous feeling crept over Song Yu, and his eyes widened. "Fuck! Don't tell me I got them all wrong!"
Holding back laughter, Xie Sui said casually, "It's fine. Only twelve points."
Song Yu stood rooted to the spot, his expression as though the sky had collapsed. His mood instantly plummeted. After all that effort, he had messed up the very first exam, Chinese. He immediately wilted like a deflated ball.
Xie Sui said, "That's enough to upset you?"
Song Yu looked listless and said nothing.
Xie Sui smiled. "I was scaring you. It was AAAD. Every one of them."
"Really?" Song Yu immediately looked up, his pale tea-colored eyes bursting with wild delight. Then he caught on and grew especially angry. "Why would you scare me? Are grades something you can joke about?!"
Xie Sui only smiled at him. "Learned your lesson?"
Song Yu said, "Huh?"
Xie Sui said, "Don't compare answers with people after exams."
Song Yu: "..."
True. That sudden disappointment and dejection after comparing answers really did feel awful.
For the next few subjects, Song Yu didn't ask Xie Sui to compare answers again.
The monthly exams went fairly smoothly.
With Xie Sui highlighting the important material for him and focusing on a few topics, math and physics weren't actually that difficult.
Even the final problem was similar to one he had done before.
The answer hadn't even changed: a equaled 5.
The last exam was English.
The moment he handed in his paper, Song Yu felt reborn.
Although the results weren't out yet, this monthly exam agreement was finally over. Besides, he was inexplicably confident that the outcome would be good.
No. 1 High School was famously fast at marking papers. The monthly exam results would probably be out the day after tomorrow.
During evening self-study after the exams.
Song Yu began tossing a coin, treating it as a sort of psychological comfort. Heads meant good, tails meant bad. If it landed tails, that meant something was wrong with the coin and he needed another one.
After the English exam, Ma Xiaoding looked as though his soul had left him. Rolling his eyes, he said, "The English essay was about Li Hua yet again. This Li Hua goes shopping, eats out, and does activities with male classmates every day. Is he gay?!"
Xi Bowen laughed beside him. "This essay was pretty easy to write, wasn't it?"
Ma Xiaoding asked Song Yu, "Brother Yu, how did English go?"
Song Yu tossed another coin. Heads up. His luck was good. Smiling, he drawled, "When it comes to exams, three points are destined by heaven, seven points come from hard work, and the remaining hundred and forty depend on the teacher's mood."
Ma Xiaoding: "..."
Xi Bowen's eyes lit up as he asked Song Yu, "Brother Yu! I heard you even taught a delinquent a lesson during the exam? Maintained discipline in the exam room? There's a forum thread praising you to the skies. Just and handsome-you're not the school bully, you're the nation's husband."
Song Yu closed his hand, smiling brilliantly. "Really? I'll check it out when I get back."
Once he got back, he called home first. With the exams over, he had more confidence.
He dialed his dad's private number.
Song Yu got straight to the point.
"Dad, congratulate me in advance on making the top hundred in my grade. Got any rewards for me?"
Busy President Song sounded surprised on the other end. "The results are out?"
Song Yu's tone was light. "Not yet. Congratulate me in advance. Whether they're out doesn't matter."
President Song: "..."
What followed was another scolding from the irritable President Song.
Even through the phone, it blasted Song Yu's ears painfully.
Soon, President Song's anger subsided.
In fact, he had only made this monthly exam agreement to give Song Yu something to do and keep him settled at school.
President Song asked about what worried him. "It's been three months since you left the hospital. How do you feel?"
"Pretty good." Song Yu hadn't experienced anything unusual in three months. He could eat, fight, and argue, and was still somewhat curious about the original owner's illness. "Dad, how exactly did I get this illness?"
President Song spoke bitterly. "Blame your third uncle. He bought an island and went around showing off, insisting on taking you there. Then you nearly drowned while playing by the sea on that island and stayed unconscious for over half a month. After you woke up, your health was poor."
Song Yu froze.
President Song paused, then sighed again. "You were to blame too. There was a downpour, but you insisted on going out. No one could stop you. Forget it... Last time you left the hospital, Doctor Xu said your condition was beginning to stabilize. Don't worry too much about this illness. It's not terminal."
A sudden pang rose in Song Yu's heart, and he sighed.
It is terminal, Dad. In five years, it's GG.
After a long while.
President Song said awkwardly, "You've had everything you wanted since you were little. You're this old and still demanding rewards. Isn't that childish?"
But then he changed tack. "Tell me. What do you want?"
For this father and son.
Whether the results were out really didn't matter.
Song Yu's slightly low spirits instantly recovered. After a moment's thought, he smiled, his eyes bright. "Dad, have someone buy me a watch. I want to give it to someone."
President Song: "???"
The reward was a gift for someone else.
President Song sounded sour. "For that friend you told me about?"
Song Yu's lips curved. "Yeah."
After talking with his dad, Song Yu held his phone and stared into space for a moment. Actually, since coming to this world, his earlier memories had been very vague. Everything before age six, in particular, was completely blank.
Yet those ten-odd years of hazy memories hadn't caused him any discomfort or made his family suspicious.
"Is this the system's automatic repair function?"
Song Yu frowned, then shook his head and pushed it out of his mind.
He sat at his computer and opened the school forum. He wanted to see how the thread Xi Bowen had mentioned praised him, but once he actually clicked in, it felt dull. As expected, they praised his looks, his dominance, his kindness and justice. It was all sobbing, screaming, and rainbow farts, along with objective analyses from a few boys who had gone from haters to fans.
233: Sob, I still remember yelling on the first day of school that I was cheating on Brother Yu and jumping ship for God Xie. Sob, I was wrong. Brother Yu, I'm sorry. You're so handsome and God Xie is so outstanding. You're a match made in heaven.
234: So nice. I just want to watch handsome boys fall in love qwq
235: Sister upstairs, restrain yourself! Go to the dedicated thread, go to the dedicated thread!
236: [nose picking][nose picking] Aren't you worried about Brother Yu's monthly exam results?
237: Just timidly putting this out there, I think Brother Yu should make the top hundred. During the exam, the teacher smiled at his paper. TUT Don't let us down, Brother Yu. Your little bro is kneeling here.
He was probably the only school bully whose monthly exams had everyone else worried sick.
Song Yu clicked out and saw that dedicated thread for who knew how many hundred times.
It was constantly being bumped to the front page now.
Holding his mouse, Song Yu thought for a moment, then clicked in anyway.
[A future vast as the sea, finding peace with Sui and Yu]
He scrolled down. It was all check-ins and people scraping together shipping crumbs, spinning romantic declarations out of their names, looks, birthdays, and things that didn't exist. Forcing them into a match made in heaven.
Song Yu felt he would get brainwashed too if he kept reading, so he clicked straight to the last page. What greeted him, however, was a promotional message being spammed across the page.
[Sisters, hehehe, I wrote a story! I'll use this alt. Click "view only this poster" for happiness. It's for secretly enjoying our ship, so don't leak it! Don't leak it! I'm afraid of disturbing their lives qwq]
[Hahahahahahaha that survival instinct]
[Don't worry!! We'll keep our fun in our own circle!!]
[Written as "afraid of disturbing their lives," read as "afraid Brother Yu will smash my dog head in"]
Song Yu: "..."
For some inexplicable reason, he clicked "view only this poster."
[I'm starting!! It's made up! Made up!]

[Synopsis:
Everyone at Jingcheng No. 1 High School knew their school heartthrob, Xie Sui, was aloof, languid, and unattainable. Rejecting countless admirers, he was cold and abstinent, like a flower on a lofty peak, as though he would never fall in love.
Then a boy transferred in, delicate-looking, willful, and ready to take on heaven and earth. As soon as school began, he took down the former school bully and became the nation's husband.
These two became deskmates.
One mountain couldn't hold two tigers.
Everyone thought they would either never speak and remain strangers, or clash with each other, neither able to stand the other.
Until one day, they saw the ever-aloof school heartthrob pin his little deskmate against a wall and kiss him.
The whole school was stunned.]
[Holy shit hahahahahahahaha]
[Pinned against a wall and kissed????!!!]
[Full marks for the synopsis, full marks]
[Keep going, author!]
Song Yu: "..."
The person supposedly pinned against a wall and kissed.
He logged into his account.
Among all the hahahahas.
One comment stood out.
2515: Your husband Brother Yu: ...
There was a brief pause.
[????]
[Am I blind? Can one of you girls dig out your eyeballs and lend them to me?]
[Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck!!!!!! It's really Brother Yu!! It's Brother Yu!!]
